So what do you do when you come across objectionable content then?

If you mean personally, I triage if the story is worth continuing or not.  Research if the writer gets better in later works, etc.  I have given up on authors because they stared getting really bad.

But then, I'm not really active in fandoms.  I know fans have gotten very critical of directions some authors end up taking (Laurel K Hamilton comes directly to mind)

Why?  Even if it can't be done atm, it's still a feature some people would like to see in the future.

Not that I disagree, but if people are actually serious about this, then this thread's purpose is pretty much spent. That's where the problem lies: Bioware has made it clear. They do not currently believe there is anywhere near enough support even to consider researching this feature. That's how low priority they see this and this thread has not changed their minds. If the toggle is going to be implemented, a couple fans posting "I hope it happens" repeatedly isn't going to do it.

Hey you called yourself awesome first :P

That's because it's true. Duh. ;)

At last count, four people. OP has stopped posting and the Reddit thread is dead.

And to be perfectly honest, I believe it's the very small but very loud minority that got us things like underwear showers. How about you guys stop taking away things from the rest of us?

No, professionally. What do you do when a patron complains about the content of a book?

Edit because phone. And as far as personally, you stop reading, correct? You don't write angry letters to publishers asking for a different version of the story. You're just done. The same principle holds here too.

I (and others) complained in DA2 about the silly Ludicrous Gibs enemies could explode into from seemingly minor hits like a shield bash, for example.

DA2 has a gore toggle. I use it in all DA games because I don't care for gratuitous displays of violence... so I don't see your problem. Or did you play with the toggle off?

I've only read some of this thread, but I think what they are asking for is already in the game, at least in DAI.

I've never been in a conversation, or cut scene that I couldn't skip through the sections I didn't feel like seeing. This includes the sex scenes.

( I only skip to save time in later play throughs)

There is already a gore toggle, and I use it because I don't like the messy look on my pc.

What are you referring to with "Harder =/= Absolute"?

Stating that something is either black or white.  Absolutes meaning extremes.

Assuming again. One may dislike vulgarity for many reasons. Bioware uses it in their games, but it is not allowed in the forums for purposes of communication. Doubt they have 'delicate sensibilities'.

That's because anybody and their brother can come on here.  They'll be fifteen or under.  BioWare has, in the past I believe, made some games that are rated T.  They don't want that fifteen year old reading those words.

They are much more easy and free with a mature rated game.  Because that's only supposed to be for people 18 and up.  But that doesn't mean they'll allow anyone to curse like a sailor on their forums.

I don't recall the gore toggle in DA2, or any DA game, affecting the effect certain moves had on enemies. I always turn persistent gore off, only because the character being speckled with blood always looks kind of dumb, but when I use assassinate or twin fans on lesser enemies, they still explode into bloody chunks. The same is true of Inquisition. A mage's lightning attacks will still end in them blowing up in a bloody pool.

Evidently based on some other input, some cut-scenes do not have the Escape option. Personally would be fine if all cut-scenes were made with that function, and that Bioware continued to make fewer of them overall. And I also use the Gore toggle; simply providing support for the use of one with language.

Nothing. Am against librarians, professors, rocket scientists, laborers, etc that misstate my own posts. So I Ignore them, and keep the others on the screen. The power of choice at work.

You ignore me but still respond to my posts AND report them? Damn, but that's some passive-aggressive **** you need to work out.

Edited because it's also quite possible it was deleted. I don't know.

I don't like sex scenes.

I've learned to hold my hand in front of my face when one comes on.

It's free, and doesn't cost anything in terms of resources and development time.

Nope, a mod warned him.

(I know, because I had something very similar happen)

EDIT :  Or just possibly only I can see that.   Hmmm.

A warning for the post I quoted? There was nothing objectionable in that. And if so, the mod would have also deleted my post as it quoted him.

(If you're pointing to your warning points, I can't see them. You can only see your own warning points.)

Don't you think it's a bit different when it involves a character you are role-playing versus some non-interactive media?

If the next title has as many cutscenes as ME3, I'd hope they'd make all of them skippable. Also, with the amount of cinema in some games, I'd really like fast-forward and pause features.

It almost never happens.  But when it does happen, my library has a process to review "challenged" books.

As for your edit:  yes, that's what I do.  But I also happen to know that people do write angry letters to publishers, to authors, etc.  As my example above, LKH's fandom suffered a pretty broken base when her work shifted in genre.

The gore toggle prevents the explosion of blood, but doesn't keep bodies from flying apart.

I still remember seriously rolling my eyes when my sword and shield Hawke did a shield bash and three bandits literally exploded   :o

At this point it seems to be less about convincing devs and more about keeping from being shouted down by all the naysayers.

What difference does it make? I'm determined to skip content in both cases and posses readily available means to achieve my goal.

The consumer is satisfied, the publisher spent less resources and the designers get to spend extra time hopelessly hitting on the receptionist. Everybody wins.

To be fair, so far the request is, "Because I want it" without any other reasoning. It doesn't fit the theme of the franchise. People who consent to sex rarely, if ever, have sex with their underwear on. Soldiers in combat (as has been clarified in a previous post) often use profanity. Soldiers in combat generally are required to kill. It's not just that it seems technically difficult, it's that it's unreasonable because it doesn't fit within the themes of the universe as presented.

If you can give me a reason to implement such an expensive toggle that doesn't involve personal taste, then I'll listen. As it is, yes, I'll continue to recommend people play other games as the theme of Mass Effect clearly does not fit with what they want as part of their entertainment options.

That shows a lack of imagination on your part.
