This frightens me, because my girlfriend is Welsh... >_>

If you catch her glancing wistfully at fog shrouded valleys and trying to make a rudimentary now from household appliances then you are in trouble.

I am not going to go into a debate about censorship or artistic impression or anything like that. I am going to go down and dirty and into the meat.

Putting any such restrictions/options into the game where you could pick and choose if you want to see blood, gore, excessive violence, sex, nudity would complicate the game so much that its going to be a nightmare to actually make it, double even triple the amount of contenct and cutscenes required(since you need the cutscenes for story but if you have option for "no gore" and "no ******" switched on you need at least 3 different ones) for the game designers to make.

Games are getting more complex all the time and are quite buggy because of that since the production schedules are set. You can't spend a year just debugging the game, no one is going to pay for all that time. Adding another layer of complexity on top of the whole game is just too hard and too expensive. No big publisher or game production company is going to go for that.

Witcher level nudity wooo!!!!  I second that jaja. But I only think it would be fair if both male and female genitalia was shown, unlike GoT where boobs and lady-bushes are shown all the time, but not a single man shaft... Not that I long to see them, but I guess it's only fair. Otherwise it's better to keep it on fades to black

It seems that it's only "natural" to show nudity where lady bits are involved. We see them in several ways in the ME series, including plenty of T&A and cleavage - but not a single man bit or appreciable bulge to be found anywhere.

Apparently, the c word only applies where female nudity is concerned. That male parts are always hidden away does not constitute censorship. It is only normal and natural for every male in fiction to be a never-nude. They never shower or sit in saunas, either.

Of course, if showing male bits ever gets the same amount of attention as showing female bits gets, I might actually be willing to call it mature content. Until then, it's standard puerile male-gaze crap.

I disagree. I don't think it's far from being censorship. I think it's very, very close to being censorship. So close as to actually be a degree of censorship. I'll own the fact that I'm using the most provocative term available to me, but I'm doing so with complete sincerity. I think this the premise of this thread asks for something equal parts impractical and discourteous, and worst of all, I think it does so disingenuously. There's a pretense here that those on the pro side are becoming something of a persecuted minority, and unfortunately, it's not completely unwarranted. There's a lot of people coming in here and deriding them on a personal level, which isn't cool.

But I'm trying to help represent the side that opposes this request for reasons a little above, "Ha ha, those guys are prudes." I think this idea is a really bad one, for many reasons, not the least of which that it's completely impractical to expect the Devs to have all the necessary time it would take to write two different versions of dialogue and integrate it well into scenes.

I can support the notion of a gore toggle, and always skippable cutscenes, but absolutely not a dialogue toggle.

I remember Turok for N64 had a blood toggle. Could even make it green, or not happen at all. So I guess that could work.

But in a way. If ppl don't like blood, or mature themes. Then why are they playing a mature game?

::shrug:: I don't care. It's not my concern to police the motives and interests of other gamers. I'm in this discussion for fear of a dialogue toggle, because that could potentially affect the content as a whole. I don't care about visual toggles, and I actually think it's a little silly to assume that because someone likes one type of adult content, they should like all things classified "adult."

It always struck me as odd that people complain vociferously about Traynor's underwear shower scene while remaining silent about the fact that tank-bred Krogan come fully armored. That was a perfect, and wasted, opportunity to show us the infamous Krogan quad.

They would not have needed to do a complete nude Krogan model, just a texture to apply on the tank. Once he was released, the rest of the scene was mostly head and shoulders, which would have required minimal modeling.

I suppose that could have effected the last part of the recruitment mission, though, where you are fighting Krogan freshly released from their tanks. Minor tweaks to that - perhaps in the form of allowing time to gear up between their release and them entering battle - would have resolved it. They did seem to have weapons in hand freshly out of the tanks, after all.

I agree about the opportunity and Bio's failure in this regard.  Perhaps, ME:A will surprise us.  Possibly even allowing us to do some modest Mods... pun intended....

You could just play Rust (not pixellated in game AFAIK) - yes, you start out bare-arsed naked with a rock:

That's an interesting interpretation of a simple, straightforward, perfectly neutral question. I'm guessing you're choosing not to answer it.

That's mostly down to the fact that when censorship is thrown about it is always about the different treatments given towards male/female chest/breast area. AFAIK usually both are censored down below in games in most cases.

As for GoT they showed dick, not so much vag tbh, in fact I think in most movies where they do show genitalia they show the male member but never the female member, but that may be down to the rules; If I remember right it goes like this;

Male and Female genitals may be shown nude after the watershed provided they are not shown in an erotic state (i.e. ready for sex), so no hard-ons and spread vag's but a limp-dick is a-ok.

Anyway, I understand your point but in the fight against censorship you have to go slowly, uncensor ****** and nipples first before you can go for stuff downstairs, wouldn't want the bible-belt to conveniently turn blind all at once if we rushed it now would we? >_>

http://www.rockpaper...-female-models/

Anyway, one thing I have noticed is that although bioware are ahead of developers in some senses (e.g. differing sexuality and the portrayal of some female characters which is improving, and male for that matter) in other areas they are still woefully behind.

For example Life is strange has shown me how decisions can be done that matter (as well as maturely handling adult themes ); witcher 3 shows a very progressive (or normal European ) attitude to sex and nudity.

This is of course notwithstanding other games improvements in gameplay mechanics, graphics and presentation.

What I wouldn't have given for DA:I to have divinity original sins combat system.

Fair enough; I find that system miles better than the DA:I one, and much more varied and interesting (especially given all the environmental interaction ).
I found DA:I combat frankly rather dull and unimaginative. DA:O was better, but even then not exactly varied.

U pointed out the most important point. Geography ! The witcher is from Europe, they don't see nudity as a threat but a natural treat.
