Not really, seems many here like it all. As for myself, dislike the profanity, and can generally skip most of the nudity and sexual content. But a Toggle is a good idea.

A choice that has a measurable impact even on people who decide not to use the toggle is still censorship. At the least it would mean the writers have to censor themselves.

Did someone turning the gore toggle on in DA2 change your experience of the game?

Does hitting a button to skip past the sex scene in ME1 mean you no longer have access to the full show?

Do we need a toggle for the banshee as well?

Thanks for posting, but I use a Gore toggle and skip many Romances.

And it is not necessary to sign the post; already included at the top....

While I would not typically use this feature myself, I certainly would have no objection to its inclusion (pending details).  If the feature obeyed parental control settings on the console, it might even cause me to let my younger nephews try out parts of the game (depending on details I don't have yet).

A big IF and an important one to consider as this directly relates to part of the potential player base that could access Mass Effect with content controls sliders. If a dev study on the slider/toggles is done this is an area of focus.

Obtuse again?

We've been talking about a toggle to filter dialogue (voice & subtitle) for profane, vulgar and obscene words. Did the topic of the thread escape your notice or are you conveniently ignoring that part?

The gore thing was resolved pages ago, most people here agreed that a. violence should only be used and displayed when necessary and b. that they wouldn't mind a gore toggle.

About nudity: It's not our fault that people in the US are such prudes that every bit of skin that is shown is being sexualized. If you don't like it, skip the scenes... but asking for a censored version that can be toggled is nonsense.

Personally I think it's a bad idea to demand any kind of content filter/toggle for mature games... if you don't like the content, then don't buy M rated games.

Ok, thanks for clarifying that. I haven't played DA:I since January, so I wasn't sure. I probably have (persistent) gore disabled, because that's what I did in DA:O and DA2, too. Don't care much for excessive blood.

Not surprising. Most people pick and choose what parts of their religion they adhere to and ignore everything that's inconvenient.

Oh very true. I went to a Catholic Primary and Secondary school so know my Bible pretty well; funny how they never discussed the incest or sending your daughter out to get gangraped stuff.

Ho hum.

Never knew there was one for DA2. I'll check the next time I play. Would it change my experience if it was turned off? No.

Since I never romanced anyone in ME1 with my femshep, I didn't have to worry about it

No, but I think that the more general concerns expressed in this thread are for what people perceive to be the over-sanitising of their popular entertainment. Honestly, making the case for a mature content filter to be added to a game developed with a mature audience in mind seems more than a little silly to me.

Just started DA2 up to check: There is indeed an "Enable Persistent Gore" option in the Gameplay menu. In mine it was turned off.

If your going to insult me, you're going to have to do better than "obtuse".  I've been here a while and been insulted by the best.

At any rate, the topc of the thread is explicit content.  Which is way more than vulgar language.  In fact, I've deliberately been stepping around that particular aspect since I see no good way to filter that outside of writers using good judgement and taste.

As for gore, well, if you say so, it's nice that some sort of consensus has been reached, but somehow I have the feeling that there are people here who thing a M rated game just isn't M unless you can see brain matter.

Nudity:  skipping the scenes is exactly what I'm saying.  You could do that in ME1, great!  People who don't want that don't have to see it and still get romance content.  Those who want to see Liara's blueberries get that too.  Are you saying ME1 was censored?

I'm actually impressed that a moderator hasn't put this thread to bed yet, it's pretty much run its course.

The topic of how these sliders may interact with console parental controls and the effects haven't been discussed. Although, by all means, resign yourself if you feel your position is depleted.

It's times like this that I miss Allan's presence around the forums.  I've said my piece about it, but it's now just getting rather ugly at this point.

And what is "mature content"?

As I said way back when, Life is Strange is very much mature without nudity or especially graphic violence.

It's less about what's been discussed and more the general tone of the conversation at this point. In theory, we could provoke a discussion to the end of time, if we were inclined.

Insulting you is not my intention but you just don't get it. It's like you didn't read the last ~10 pages.

At any rate, the topc of the thread is explicit content.  Which is way more than vulgar language.  In fact, I've deliberately been stepping around that particular aspect since I see no good way to filter that outside of writers using good judgement and taste.

Which would mean they'd have to censor themselves instead of writing what they want.

As for gore, well, if you say so, it's nice that some sort of consensus has been reached, but somehow I have the feeling that there are people here who thing a M rated game just isn't M unless you can see brain matter.

I assume those people are a minority cause excessive gore serves no purpose outside of shock effects and that gets old quickly.

Nudity:  skipping the scenes is exactly what I'm saying.  You could do that in ME1, great!  People who don't want that don't have to see it and still get romance content.  Those who want to see Liara's blueberries get that too.  Are you saying ME1 was censored?

I am aware that you can skip cutscenes. This is not what was asked by the OP and not what has been discussed in this thread.

There are several instances in DA:I where nudity pops up during dialogue, which means you can't easily skip it without missing out on content. To counter this issue it was proposed to introduce a toggle which would hide/remove the nudity in some unexplained way so the player could still have the conversation with their LI.

Additionally this request is preemptive for ME:A, asking for a nudity toggle option.

I am opposed to this on principle, not only is nudity not a bad thing that needs to be censored but these games are rated M and thus the larger part of the  demographic doesn't mind or actually wants nudity in their game.

Not asking for anyone to sanitize the game for you; asking for a Toggle so I may craft the experience for myself.

SO yeah, just because there's an "M" stamped on a game, doesn't mean it's necessarily "Mature"

Indeed. And Saints Row 4, is 'Mature', though that's not the word I'd use  :P

(fun though)....
