Could supply a deli for a month on the bologna from this paragraph. This is about indv control over personal content; not some Reaperfied attempt at indoctrination. Sad thing is that some actually believe this mass hysteria call to arms.

No, my statement was about the trend of Nanny-State politics.  People who are unwilling to take personal responsibility for their own lives expect other people to do it for them, in the form of corporate censorship, government regulation, and so forth.

Why ask Bioware to self-censor or add a toggle?  Why not protect your own offended sensibilities and morals by taking responsibility for what you do, what you watch, and what your choices are?

It's not bologna to expect mature adults buying and playing a mature-rated game to have some level of responsibility, nor is it bologna to be suspicious of those who insist and demand others 'save them' from their own decisions.

If you don't like what's in the games; don't buy them, don't play them, and for heaven's sake... don't go picking the optional content that displays what you find objectionable.

Good point. Seeing that the only way for him to find something objectionable is to look at it first.

EDIT: Reminds me of the old movie censorship boards

You're acting like people are asking to take away all this stuff, when really what's being asked for is a way for a player to avoid or minimize exposure to it should they so choose.  It's about adding choices to a game.

"Nanny state politics" would be dropping the game down to T level or lower for everyone

Seriously, do people keep saying "Don't like it don't buy it" to people begging to play aliens in Mass Effect instead of human?  Is it censorship to turn on the gore toggle in Dragon Age?

This is like asking for stuff you want to enjoy to be set at your preferred level. Why do you insist that things be set that way, do you go on Bethesda forums making these same demands so you can finally enjoy a Fallout game to the toggle options you proposed?

See how far asking for these kinda things get you on other forums, I can tell you that you will probably get the same reaction on those forums as these. There are actually people who don't believe in kid safe material. Some people think exposure to these kinda things is more beneficial than hiding it. You got to also remember if your kid is asking a question s/he is old enough to receive the answer because s/he will find another way to seek the answer they want if you lie to them. But doing so much censorship that we do these days is the exact problem with our society so ask yourself this: Do you want to be part of the problem we have these days or do you want to help solve it?

Let Bioware make the game they desire don't try to be pushing your own agenda on them. We can already see that effect from Fox News with Mass Effect 1 because ME2, DAO, DA2,and ME3 all had underwear romance scenes besides Liara in ME3 if you romanced her. Censorship is the problem not the answer.

Bioware already has a gore toggle option, I don't think much more will be added to the option menu than what we have already seen. Asking for a toggle on nudity will make them have to make two versions of the romance scene because lets face it we all know the nudity in Bioware games will be at the romance scene. I either didn't get far enough in DAI or I missed something but I don't recall seeing anyone running around in the nude or barely wearing anything when I last played the game. Just the iconic Desire Demon look.

This in not about censorship; about better enabling the Players to have desired content. personally have only played a single Bethesda title (ie; Skyrim), and have not been to their forums. Instead, I use mods that allow for these alterations, and use filters on the Nexus to avoid content deemed undesirable.

Options, choices, and variety; much like the Players themselves.

Personally skip most Reality TV; could lead to the belief it is common to act like that....

No offence to the OP but where does it stop? There's always going to be something else that bothers people's sensibilities. Then some more then more until all we get is rated PG or U.

You avoid reality TV because you think it could lead people to believe that swearing is commonplace? Oh my!

As this Option affects only those that use it, others will still have the game as designed. Win; win....

I avoid Reality TV as much of it is as dry and appealing as a mouthful of salt. If I miss the swearing; tis a bonus.

That's not what I took from your earlier post Elhanan, but feel free to back peddle away from it by all means.

I'm about five seconds away from starting a thread entitled, "An Open Letter To Elhanan Regarding the Gross Overuse of the Semicolon Key."

Ease up, turbo.

As long as you don't start a thread about how I don't use proper grammar we are all good lol

This is absolutely about censorship. You are asking the writers to censor themselves.

As has been said previously (endless repetition in this thread), making such an option work would affect the game and consequently the players. It would affect the budget and time, it would require changes to the story and probably to the characters in the story... even if you decide to experience the game without a filter, you'd still have to deal with changes made by the writers.

Then writers censor themselves every time they make changes from their original draft.

Depends on the reason. If they make the changes on their own, it's one thing. If they have to make the changes because some gamers demand it, then it's censorship.

This topic should be abandoned, even the thread starter has left the thread because I am sure he got the answer he desired.

Note: polite request =/= demand.

Content producers constantly alter their products to meet market demand and satisfy their target demographic(s). It's basic business practice.

Was the release of the EC censorship? I wasn't around at the time, but as near as I can tell, that was done to satisfy demand.

And actually, I think a better question might be: how is this different than the other content changes they make in order to sell their products in different markets?

I doubt the BioWare devs are clamoring to be told they have to stop cussing

Uncertain, as the writers seemed to break their own lore regarding swearing in DAI.

Is requesting a way to reduce the amount the same as being told they "have to" do something?

People request lots of stuff to be put in or taken out of a game.  Why is this somehow special?
