Possibly, but even that is optional; left up for the Player to choose or not. A Toggle in settings allows much the same for other kinds of content.

Why not create a website to gain support for having a filter/toggle in video games? I'm sure there are a lot of folks out there who would. It be better than just posting the same thing over and over again on this forum. This is only a suggestion.

Something like this would be as bad as metacritic. Can you even imagine? A million trolls would vote tirelessly to move the consensus in either direction and laugh as the world burns.

There's no way you'd get anything resembling accurate data with this approach.

So someone who would like to have a filter in a video game is a troll? Why is that?

That is so completely not what was said...

That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying that using the method you describe to gauge interest in such a thing would undoubtedly be massive troll bait.

Do you having anything to support your comment that it would be troll bait?

Yes. Metacritic.

Also, the BSN.

Also, the internet.

Also, human nature.

Perhaps I should ask Felicia Day; she seems to be rather good at gathering interest in projects. And Wil Wheaton could use a Toggle....

Well this will fall flat on its arse; the filter is a load of bollocks really.

Bloody buggery bollocks if you ask me.

That's bloody poppycock and you know it.

Does it smell like Burberry in here?

Hey - could be worse, imagine the profanity you could sneak past the filter if the forum used the utf-8 character set ... oh, hang on a minute ...

There is the perfect thread for this which is titled similar to this one with users that would love to engage in more swearing. The increase in creative and conscientious rhetoric would be astounding and is nearly certain to make an impression with BioWare.

It would certainly get quiet around here real quick since circumventing the profanity filter is against the ToS.

Shameful that such a clause would exist in the social contract and be encouraged to be self-enforced.

I'm not circumventing the filter at all. I just use bloody proper english, not some shite American bollocks.

Do the German / French / Spanish veriosn etc all have filters?

I wasn't referring to that - but simply the fact that there are lots of characters that look like latin characters but aren't - and can therefore be used as substitutions in words to write anything you like including the F-word, C-word or even politiciaи! Oh, wait that's not actually a swear word...

As the Devs actually choose the words and terms to be used in the Toggle, do not see the purposeful problem that exists here. Still support the OP.

Hm..

Let me see if I get this tight.

The Devs choose to filter two words out of ten that are deemed objectionable by the OP and you. And you are OK with that?

Interesting.

Hey Bio!. Please implement a toggle filter with one word or two or three.... Better yet, make sure these words are in Latin....  E  sees no problem with this solution.

No one said you were circumventing the filter. The closest to this would maybe be my comment about the social contract (site rules) and the profanity clause (no.5) which isn't limited to circumventing the filter.

If your point is that the filters are one of the only things preventing you from swearing that could be taken as fodder for a pro-toggle argument and, frighteningly, bringing back the branks without gender discrimination. With a population of swearing grumblers abounding what else could suffice?

The game is already censored.

It has an "M" rating.

Bioware surely has done market research, and positioned the game rating-wise accordingly.

For all the "Oh My!", "Holy Roller" types, your choice is simple,

You either chose to play an "M" rated game or not.

Trying to drain limited resources so the game fits your sensibilities is self-centered.

Bioware needs a censorship lesion from Mr. Mackey

I could understand if folks thought I was demanding a change to everyone's game. But it is a bit puzzling why others are opposed to everyone getting the content of their choice. This appears self-centered, IMO.

Yes, it will take work, but other games have seen it is viable and profitable. Hope Bioware takes a gander at the issue, and will study the possibilities that such filters offer.

Different engine, different budget, different genre, different publisher . As to why, you playing the victim, ignore people's points, keep repeating yourself.

Now keep repeating yourself again.

OK. Pls set me to Ignore; have already reciprocated the privilege.

As for Bioware doing this, they have already broken new ground on the new engine; hope it continues, and includes additional filters.

I don't work for Bioware, but it's nice to have insider knowledge on what the Bioware are capable of with the engine. Can you tell me when the game is released as well?

Elhanan,,

You are demanding a change to everyone's game.

The inclusion of a censorship system.

My opinion is that you know this, evidenced by you refusal to answer the question about where these resources to make such a change come from in a constrained environment.

Any diversion of limited resources for such a project takes away said resources from making the game better.

Or, if you know something else, like such a system is free, doesn't take dev(s) input, takes no time, and won't harm the game, please tell.
