Since you've actually made a reasoned response - I'll save you the effort of reading everything I've posted; my position boils down to this:
snip
I get that.
I get the resource allocation problems, I get the extra costs and time, and how the effort in the end would not be worth it in the long run with what we've come to expect with Bioware games with multiple dialogue options and branching paths compared to the more linear style of the other games.
It doesn't bother me personally if Bioware doesn't have one, but it also wouldn't bother me at all if Bioware decided to put one in if they felt the potential gains outweighed the costs.
That's pretty much my position.
I've said it before and I know I'll say it again. My highest priority when I play games, is to have fun playing the game. Do I, as a gamer, like having more options? Most certainly. Do I understand if some of those options are limited because of in-game narrative or simply lack of resources. Yup.
I simply don't see the need to get on the people who make the call for the filter or toggle when we know it's most likely just a dream of some people, as the OP did in a very respectful manner, of features they would like to see in the future, even if those features simply cannot be implemented for any number of reasons.
