If you depict sex or intimacy or "romance" then don't chicken out when it comes to nudity. I know of no woman who puts her bra back on after having sex and relaxing in bed. I also know of no woman who showers in her underwear.

The human body isn't something shameful that needs to be hidden, it's all natural. It isn't always about sex either.

 

Either BioWare shows a mature relationship with all that entails or they can skip it completely... because the average ME player isn't a kid anymore and delicately hinting at things because you are afraid of negative feedback from vocal minorities is just lame. I don't need to see the act itself. DA:I's Cassandra scene was a step in the right direction.

Agree completely. I was very disappointed by lots of things about DAI but the way they treated nudity maturely in scenes such as Cassandra was a positive in my eyes.

Just because there are awkward non-nudity scenes doesn't mean scenes can't be done without awkwardness.  Because I guarantee you nude scenes can be done pretty awkwardly as well.

Sex is also something private.  And you can absolutely show a mature relationship without forcing the player to be a voyeur into their sex lives.

If there was an option for the player to have the sex scene or not rather than have it be mandatory, then they would be with the others.

To be fair to the IB scene, I don't believe you actually "see" anything.  They did the Austin Powers trick of strategically blocking views with objects.

Don't see in what way it is voyeur. We play as that character, ergo it isn't something private. By your logic should we never have been allowed to see what was inside the captain's quarters in mass effect at any time as that was Shep's private chamber?

Many people just want it authetic, I guess. Characters get in a romance so they will have sex and you want to see a bit of it, at least a good teaser, not a couple with underwear while having sex (man that must hurt) ... it´s a bit like Jack Bauer never had to go to toilet once in 8+1 seasons ... and did ever see one in star treck doing such a thing?

The picnic scene was fun about getting to know more of her, but to have sex with the possible choice for Divine made the light hearted moment seem somewhat manipulative. And not being a lore junky, I have no knowledge of the Chantry's beliefs on this matter. Much preferred the long kisses and saying goodbye to her on the balcony watching the sun on the horizon.

Overall, still believe Aveline's romance story is among the best.

Now, be honest here, you had to WANT the unicorn scene in order to get it. I haven't seen it at all.

They are all subjective.

And it took a very long time for my Inq to get that scene with Cassandra, as it seemed a lot of my early responses to her were not fully appreciated; only honest and diplomatic ones from the personality that was used in that campaign. The scene was to be about being patient in our relationship, especially as she was a Seeker and the Inq was a human Mage Noble. Nudity was unneeded, and lessened the story.

Flirting with Lace Harding is also fun, at least from my Dwarven Inq's POV.

To be fair - sex is not that serious, it's something fun for two adults (or more) to enjoy together. When you've been with someone a while you may well have plenty of fond/humorous memories involving sex (e.g. the Hallelujah Chorus coming on the radio at just that moment - shouldn't have left Classic FM on in the background).

 

I've known people who've had sex on Harley Davidson's (not whilst moving obviously) so shagging on a stuffed unicorn, to me, fits with the reality of a sexual relationship within the framework of The Witcher quite nicely... it keeps that fun/lighthearted element in it.

The Chantry doesn't have moral hang-ups about sex. DG at one point mentioned that children and marriage for the templars are an exception, but moreso becuase of practical reasons (templars move around and families are hard to support) so dispensation is required.

 

But I'm posting because I have a problem with your position: Cassandra is very much into having sex with the Inquisitor in that scene. Suggesting she's being manipulated essentially undermines that she consent to having sex, which I think is a really dramatic claim to make.
