Considering this same talking point has been repeated over and over by many of the anti-togglers this may be a relief to all those that have complained about repetitiveness in the thread. Thank you.

----

To those continuing with this thread: I've begun work on seeking out those who may support a content control slider. A BioWare group will be formed once particular milestones are reached.

:)

The "anti-toggle" side has no reason to do anything. Not that there even is a side, there are just several individuals speaking out against a terrible idea.

It is up to you to convince BioWare, we already get what we want.

:)

Let's not forget how devs hate toggles now lol

That would be a first step towards lobbying for it, but you might want to expand the target demographic beyond those actively seeking out a bioware forum custom group and go to regular video game forums such as IGN, Neogaf, Gamespot, Giantbomb, reddit etc with polls about explicit content toggles in video games.

Speaking out, yes, is all good. Repeatedly saying the same thing and repeating each others words is a bit tiresome. Which posters were complaining about repetitiveness?  No matter, if the idea of content control for the end user can continue to be developed and convince the minds of those that can move things forward -not just end users- there is a chance for this in the future.

Oh, and about those hard done by writers if this happens. Strange thing about some writers, the more confinements placed on the process the more creative and interesting the results become. Not all writers are the same, naturally. It would be silly to think otherwise. Are people freer living under anarchy or law?

And please share. I'd love to see how this is received on reddit and Neogaf.

Breaking through entrenched groupthink can be challenging. Specifically, the problem with reddit being that in some gaming subreddits counter viewpoints are downvoted not due to a lack of contribution but because they go against current popular opinions. Maybe things could be different now.  =]

I actually have no idea, so I defer to you. Reddit scares me too much to actually visit it, so I don't know how things work over there.

It sounds like it's mostly the unsavory sort of insane, but they're maybe just the loudest ones.

Well, the original post didn't get any new responses in a week or so.

I believe that is largely because of the way Reddit works with its front page and partly heavily downvoted submissions, assuming an active subreddit and a positive vote count, pretty much all submissions gets dropped off the front page in a day or so

Threads die fast but it keeps content and discussions fresh.

A majority opinion doesn't automatically equate to groupthink.

My guess? You'll not find much support there, either.

I *personally* believe there are a number of people out there who would welcome the toggles, but they don't hang out in gaming forums.

I love all of the mass effect games and I partially agree that bioware should allow this in settings I know that lots of people could care less but there are those out there who love gaming but don't play the really good games because their parents don't like the language. I would love for them to play ME so I would have to agree that they should put these into the settings. This will in turn allow for a wider demographic and this way the can get more people playing these games.

You know, if you're old enough to play the Mass Effect trilogy by current PEGI (18+) or ESRB (17+) ratings and your parents are worried about the fairly minor levels of swearing in the Mass Effect trilogy then you should probably move out of that creepy commune ... or stop giving a baboon's blue backside what they think.

Grief ... by the time I was 17 ... yeah, I think I'll take the 5th (metaphorically speaking seeing as I'm not a US resident), self-incrimination and all that.

Am 58, still try and respect my parents, and do not care for the profanity in the ME series, esp ME2. Was not aware that 17+ that one was to lose respect for parental input....

Prefer to honor my elders and try and listen to their experiences and advice. Also have respect for cultures that do this, as well as individuals.

Exercise your right to not purchase the next Mass Effect then. See? That's easy.

Prefer to use my rights to purchase what I am able, and would prefer to have more games to play then less.

I respect my parents for their input to a large degree still, but that doesn't mean I have to do what they want either, the point was more that once past 20 something unless being a tad sheltered most people start to live their own lives, make their own decisions about where to go in life and what hobbies they have etc, even if they continue to have a good and respectful relationship with their parents.

The way that was worded it was implied it was more the parents opinion than their own stopping them from playing those games.

Alien guts on the battlefield. Alien bodily fluids in the bedroom.

You don't like it, play some other game.

Then play Mario Kart. Or Sims. Or any TES game. (I hear you can play Skyrim forever without ever getting to the end.) To pretend you don't have options that don't involve a holier-than-thou 90-page crusade for a toggle that .01% of players will actually use is mind-boggling. Your opinion as a consumer has been noted. Bye.

I do have 2800+ hrs on Skyrim, and have not completed it, so that might be true. And while I do not have plans to play prior TES games, I await SkyWind and TES VI. Thing is, am pretty sure a good business model is to include more Players than advise them to go elsewhere, so shall be staying around and encouraging others to look at these suggestions.
