Whether I expect it is irrelevant.

I want the lack of mod friendliness to be at the top of every player's mind all of the time.  The only way to get EA to support mods is to get the market to demand that support.

I like you Sylvius, but this made me shake my head a bit.

I am also on PC and I do enjoy mods.  However, we aren't the majority here.  For a lot of games, console has the lion share of the sales.  That includes for RPGs these days.  The console users are the majority, and there is very few mods out there that work for them.  I'm not going to ask them to care, nor keep it in their minds.  Why should console players care if PC users can mod or not?  It doesn't make a bit of difference to them.

I request it, I support it because I can actually use mods.  It's not up to "every player," it's up to us on PC to get those views out there.

For the sake of Dream's thread, I'll just leave it at that.   :)

So by mild language do they mean words like "Oh fiddlesticks!" or something?

I'm going to push this a step further: you can achieve all this in an E rated game as well.

Yes. Or at least E10+.

Which has operated under the M-rating thus far and included moments of excessive violence (probably no pushing mercs out of windows or electrocuting mercs working on ships) and highly-suggestive sexual rendezvous, all of which have been at least partially interactive.

This would also likely impact the incorporation of decisions like the Virmire choice and the Ascension-human dilemma, since you're directly involved in the sacrifice of lives ... something that would get parents bent out of shape about considering the more youth-friendly rating.

There are T rated games that involve all of these things. Well, not those specific examples but the general concepts behind them.

Well, FFVII had "damn" and "hell" and was rated T for Teen.  Basically, nothing stronger than maybe a PG-13, only without the one F-bomb allowance that PG-13 movies have.

I mean DA:I was already pretty sanitized in comparison to Origins or 2.

Perhaps this is the next logical step.

It really wasn't. Especially not Dragon Age 2.

Anyway, I refuse to play a game where I can't electrocute people in one way or the other, and the feel of that just isn't the same in a T-Rated game.

I'd prefer "Aw Nuts", like the Indominus Rex in Jurassic World.

Who knows. If Bethesda's "mods to consoles" plan works with Fallout 4, console players like myself might be enjoying modded Bioware games in five years or so.

Jokes aside (I have no interest in a T rated ME game), would this sort of thing affect Virmire? Again, let's look at KotOR. T rating and your character can be a malevolently evil psychopath. Virmire doesn't strike me as worse than that.

Maybe, maybe not.  You're point-blank given the decision of which of two people will die, and no way of getting out of it.

It's more than being a psychopath.  It's making the choice of which life you've grown to know is more desirable or valuable than another, and ending the other.

Including choices of human sacrifice? Which ones? I could use a refresher.

Fiddlesticks is only allowed in moderation.

I didn't know that.  It'll probably be too late for this ME trilogy (I suspect it's a trilogy,) but if it works and console players start a thread asking for it in a BioWare game, I'll happily sign on.  I would love to be able to recommend some of my nicer mods with my console buds.   :D

@Kaiser I use the term "brilliant" a lot lately if I'm around my niece instead of the F-bomb. (Example: "My landlady is being a flake.  Brilliant.")  The little one has hit that age where she's the Human Parrot.   :P

Moving this game to a T is not going to preserve story quality.

You're either going to be dealing with characters that have no real, relateable issues in their lives, or you're going to be dealing with stilted, artificial dialogue that's carefully manufactured to write around the ratings system and just doesn't come off naturally. You wouldn't be able to have plots that deal with the same themes in the same tone.

There is a reason the ratings system exists. Children can't deal with all the same things adults can. It's not appropriate to expose them to the same things adults can enjoy being exposed to.

I am an adult. I want a game that caters to adult sensibilities. That isn't asking for porn - if I want porn, the whole internet is available to me. It's asking for a game that deals with adult problems, adult themes, adult characters, and handles it in an adult tone.

Excellent point. However, you're not building a personal relationship with the little moving pieces in a Civ game.
