I don't care about mods, even when I was a PC player (before I wised up and became a superior console player) for one simple reason 99% of mods suck and basically worthless.

I would also say that is AAA games on the PC suck so bad in terms of quality control and why console versions are superior. Why should companies like Bethesda, Ubisoft, Activision, WB Games, and others give a damn about quality PC versions when they can release a game and have the modders patch and make it work for nothing. If you want to be treated like a slave that is your business but pardon me if I don't support practices like modding as an excuse for basically slave labor. If these companies are willing to pay the modders for salvaging their games then I have no problem with it. Until then EA not supporting it seems like one of the few good things EA is actually doing for video games.

Trolling or utterly ignorant of the modding scene ... I think the jury's out on that one.

No, they're definitely trolling. Even the most rabidly anti-PC console players don't have any reason to hate modding.

I'm conflicted. I've played a few games that were T but damn... they were a Wookie's butt hair from being "M". Sooo, it's doable, though I'd recommend Bioware not to do it. Battlefront is EA/Dice, it's a shooter, and it's T. Be happy with that. RPGs, where you're one syllable from causing/preventing genocide... Yeah, that's a mature decision, that needs Mature.

Not if they want to have nudity in the game.

Not that it's a given that they will, but it would be a step back to have it in Inquisition and then not have it in Andromeda.

Mass Effect isn't necessarily like Halo, which really hasn't been an 'M' rated game for years.

All T means is no gore, mild swearing, and it will fade to black early in the sex scene.

Everything else people are claiming is correlation and not causation. Yes many if not most T games have a simpler story or less dark story but it's not required. They can easily have a far deeper and darker story with deeper character interaction then ever before and keep it T.

Hey if you like swearing, nudity and graphic violence that's awesome. So do I. But it's not about story. It's about a wanting exploding heads etc.

Well in some countries rating systems create legal boundaries in terms that it's illegal to sell the game for person who is under the rating and so on.

I do understand, but as I said, how many parents will go out and buy a M rated game for their kids?

It's a button for me as I grew up during the Tipper Gore insanity with marking CDs for Explicit Content in huge black and white tags here in the US. And so many rating systems have come from similar hysteria, so ratings annoy the crap out of me, especially when it does end up being grafted into law.

I don't mind having the guide part of the ESRB where it's this game contains blood, gore whatever. Having that, just that without setting an age limit makes more sense to me.

That's sort of what I said in my 3rd paragraph.

plz keep it rated m, why the sudden demand for a younger audience? ME is clearly a series meant for mature-minded people.

No, they should not.

It's a mature science fiction series, and is labeled as such.

Take you Bronies dreams somewhere else please.

Makes one wonder where ME1 got its M rating from. You gun down lots of people, but it's bloodless, there's no blown-off heads, little in the way of nudity, and I can't really recall much in the way of swearing. I mean, does someone actually swear in that game? I honestly cannot remember who or what word.

HAH, mass effect for mature minded people...

It has gore, sex and swearing but for mature minded people has got to be the funniest description i've ever heard about it.

Sadly the side boob scene with the consrot did it I suspect.

That sex scene at the tail end of the game, most likely. And considering all the flak Bioware caught for it, it's probably a good thing the game was rated M. The nutbars who went after Mass Effect would have probably blown a gasket if it'd been T.

Not accurate. T opens the game to a younger audience, the next logical step is making the game more friendly to a younger audience.

(because if the target demographic is changed, they want the new demographic to enjoy the game)

No

I'm not opposing the presented rating, I'm opposing the idea that game should aim for rating at all; the devs should just make the game and then rate it, not tailor the content to strike a specific rating, be it M.

After all, Portal 2 is rated E+, and it's one of the best games ever made.

Yep. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords is a great example of a rated T game doing that. Halo 5: Guardians is also a good example.

Same with Arkham Knight's M rating. No swearing, nudity or blood, sure the story gets pretty dark, but so did Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, and they're both rated 'T'. One of my friends said it could be due to Professor Pyg, who's a seriously dark character, but so was Victor Zszasz.

It is a very good example in my opinion especially due to it's handling of different topics including that of war and post-traumatic stress. It also conveyed horror of not only the physical variety but also the psychological variety without needing to use gore or blood to do so. Some of it were even subtle.
