Language certainly plays a part in the last couple of titles.

Not really. In a rated Teen game. This is PG13 material we are talking here. I hear *Edited* and *Edited* from teenagers all the time and in movies. The cottle is too strong.

^I still have not touched the Omega dlc. The intro for Aria put me off enough that I'm not sure I will.

Its basically a 3 hour long shooting gallery. If you don't like Aria, keep it that way.

Well, ultimately by shooting for a Teen rating that means introducing limits and censorship on what the writers are allowed to do.   So no, I am very much against artificial limits being placed upon anyone.

Let the writers write what they want to write and show whatever they feel they need to show.    If that earns a teen rating then so be it, if its a mature rating then so be it.  More often then not, anything that falls into a Teen rating could have been made better by allowing the developers more freedom.

I haven't played Omega earlier but I was happy to see that they finally did something with Aria. Her story was interesting, her intro was cool (other than that I could hear the devs giggling when Aria said "F**k") and she did absolutely nothing in ME2.

What makes your opinion more worthy of being repeated than someone else's?

Ask someone that quotes them.

Let's not make the thread about me.

It's a fair question. You opened that can of worms.

Today's N7 video makes me hopeful that the new game will be an amazing journey that explorers of all ages can enjoy.

So Dora the f***ing Explorer in space then?

F*** that for a game of soldiers, pre-order cancelled, dog s*** posted to BioWare HQ.

(and yes, that is pretty much how I would phrase it verbally - that's why you can't have a game that's entirely enjoyable for both children and the British)

BioWare should definitely NOT go to a T rating with this one... can't bring myself to imagine what it would be like to discuss ME decisions and romance scenes with my 12yo boy... ;)

If it became edited like this, that would also be acceptable....

Tell this to that manager that got really upset because of my 5UCK.MYD1.CK shirt. What's the difference, really? Everyone knows what it means, so what's the point of ***-ing it?

Decisions like the ones in Planescape: Torment?

Romances like in BG2?  KOTOR?

Heck the Starcraft games are T rated!

I don't know if going for a T rating is worthwhile, but it still allows for quite a bit of flexibility in quality storytelling.  It certainly wouldn't be "Dora the effing Explorer" as someone recently declared.

The Dora the Explorer comment was in specific reference to this: "new game will be an amazing journey that explorers of all ages can enjoy"

To my mind, Explorers of all ages does not equate to 'T' rated...

Except of course "bleeping" on spoken conversations in-game would not be acceptable to me, it would be laughably bad...

I still remember the edited-for-TV version of Robocop from about 20 years ago, it was so horrendously awful that it's stuck in my memory... the dubbed in voices didn't even sound anything like the original speakers.

"Once I even called him ... airhead ... "

Would have been less stupid sounding had they just bleeped it with Wile E. Coyote cartoon sound effects :\

Heavens help the fool that messes with my pixelated breast! But really a T rating may limit story telling. I got chills and quite the fright with all the build up to the Broodmother. We wouldn't have gotten that with a T rating.

One violates this forum's Terms of Conduct; one does not. One can get a poster suspended; one is deemed acceptable to a point.

And if the audio and subtitles are able to be tailored to the indv Player's choices, seems to be a win-win to me.

Would depend on how it was done for myself. I understand GoW uses radio static and squelches on the comms as a method, which seems to appease Players. If something were to be done in an immersive style like this, I would appreciate the zots.

Uncertain; reminiscent of Poe, and that is taught at such a maturity level. But the subject matter itself is mature, and should be rated as such, IMO.

I'm indifferent.  Most of what Bioware does doesn't deserve an M rating (Not that such a rating would make it better)

So I don't think it would change much.

Literally nobody cares, there are tons of 10 year old kids playing violent things like GTA (just like we did).

And the human body is nothing to be afraid of, plenty of those will be having sex in 4 years anyway.
