Thank God for you OP, I was losing hope to the trolls, until I came to this thread. Agree with all your points.

My suggestion is this...

BRING BACK THE INVENTORY SYSTEM!

I want to be able to choose what armor my party wears. I want to be able to toggle the helmets of my armors. I do not want my people run around in damaged armor or no armor at all in gunfights. WTF were you guys thinking removing the ability to wear armor for the party!?!?!?

1) The ability to alter my appearance upon import from a previous appearance, not from scratch. I wanted to see if there was any hair closer to mine, or eyes. But I'd have to completely start over if I did that, and I thought I got decently close the first time.

2) The planet scanning thing isn't too bad, except there are too many deposits on each planet. I haven't mined even a third of the planets (probably) and it looks like if I did I'd have a million of each material (except Eezo). It takes about 30 probes to get all the appreciable spikes. 10-15 if you exclusively go for the biggest spikes. This means you have to make tons of trips to fuel stations if you want to fully mine each planet (which I have decided not to do yet), and it takes a long time to mine each planet.

I am loving this game!

My suggestion: Have the two companion characters have their own conversations when walking around Citadel, Omega, etc. (ie: when not an active mission). I thought Dragon Age Origins did this well.

Basically, bring back the elevator conversations from ME1, but have them take place not in elevators.

One more pet peeve of mine.

When scanning a planet, can you change the option to a toggle option for the button press? On the 360, you press and hold the LT button while you scan. After a while my finger starts to hurt because I have to hold the button in for however long it takes for me to be satisfied I've drained a planet dry.

Just a more user friendly way to do it would be to press the button and leave scan active while you move around the planet.

Thanks.

Ok, here I go:

More keybinds

A way to skip movies (starting a new character is very tiresome)

I still prefer ME1's galaxy map.

Resources are a pain. As is the probe system. Please tweak them a bit. Thanks!

Agree to both of these.

My small gripe is with biotics when you have a sniper rifle equiped, I despise the lame effect where all of a sudden I site through my siper rifle to fire my biotic.  I'd rather you had to equip biotics which had there own site and targeting system(which allowed biotic headshots), than have this sniper rifle veritgo.  OR just use the basic line up sites for biotics that is there when you have the snipe rifle equiped don't switch to scope mode.

player should rethink there stance.

What I don't understand is how BioWare hasn't fixed this yet. Persona 3 had social links. (People compained about the automatic relationships with the female social links (MC was a guy) in Persona 4 one game later there was Friendship paths!  BioWare still hasn't gotten this right! :(

* this is a paste of a thread i made elsewere of my ideas...

Well, Mass Effect 2 really was a huge improvment over ME1 and i just hope Bioware can do to ME3 what they did to ME2, it will be hard to top it and considering all the possible outcomes of ME2 it'll take 2-3 years to make ME3 most likely, so i just want to say good luck to Bioware and show them that Canadians can make good things besides Maple Syrup! (JK, i'm Canadian too so don't ban me :P)

*Note that i finished the game with Shepard and the entire team surviving so my suggestions and ideas will use that outcome*

My Suggestions:

I'm not sure about anyone else here but in Mass Effect 1 my squad always consisted of Garrus and Tali, Same in Mass Effect 2 as well, so i think it would be really cool to include them in the 3rd installment. Now i do realize it's necessary to switch up characters so the game doesn't get redundant but i just think it would be cool if there were those 2 people who helped you through all three games (it reminds me a bit of movies like Indiana Jones or Jame Bond, there was always a character or two in it that they could trust), and after 2 games with them in I feel i can really rely on them to help me out...

Another suggestion i have (and i'm sure this is already going to be included in ME3) is possibly seeing the Flotilla and maybe even helping them out some more. In ME1 Tali would tell you about it, in ME2 you could go to the Flotilla, so in ME3 it would be cool if you could see them some more and help them kill some Geth or something :D. Also the Quarians are my favourite race from Mass Effect which is why i think it would be cool to help them out (the back-story about them really helps out with my feeling sympathy for them. so they have a good story, something Bioware is good at making :D) nd laos something i'm sure Bioware will get a lot of Flak for is: Let us see Tali's face!!!! i was dissapointed I didn't get to see it even after Romance with her... so please let us wee her face in ME3.

Also something i noticed in ME1 that wasn't in ME2 was some of the lore: in ME1 you could go talk to your team to learn more about their back story or about hwere they came from but in ME2 you couldn't do that as much... you have to walk around on a planet with them and there are certain areas where they talk about that kind of stuff, i guess that makes it more realistic in a way but it still would be nice to add that back in to ME3

And my last suggestion is more technical then the other 2: i noticed a couple times on close-ups some armour would have pixely textures (my comp is up to spec and i have all the graphics highest so it's not my comp), this happened most noticabley on Purgatory when the Warden greets you and it zooms to his face you can see the Blue Sun armour is pikely... and also sometimes the shadows would be pixely as well, most noticabley when Shepard wakes up and has to get the pistol in the beginning of the game, when he lifts his head you can see the shadows are weird. Of course i can't really complain about this since Graphics carry less weight on how good a game is and since ME2 is such an awesome game complaining about this is like complaining about how it's too hot when you go on Vacation; it really has no place, but i just though i'd mention it so you guys (and girls) at Bioware can work on it.

This last point isn't really an idea but a Question: Why is it that almost every alien species has a weird knee structure? If you look in game you can see they all look similar... i like it but they all kind of look similar.

Bioware, keep up the good work!

My only suggestions are :

1) Keep the heat sinks, but have unlimited Heat Sinks on you. Still breaks up the battle by releasing the heat, but you don't have to find these small canisters every where.

2) Inventory. It is a lot of fun and rewarding to search a warehouse or ship and find an awesome armor or gun. Only getting credits takes away from the fun of searching areas.

3) Helmet Toggle

4) Bioitcs work on everyone or at least people with armor. Doesn't make too much sense IMO

Can we stickie this thread? I've seen about 4 or 5 threads off of the top of my head (and I'm sure there are many more that I haven't found) with similar subjects, and instead of posting in all of them, can we post in just 1?

I support this thread, it is full of win!

I would like to add a suggestion, please insert a save point BEFORE you make your character and have the ability to skip those long intro movies.

Having to go through all those videos of the illusive man talking to Miranda all the time makes me sick. I've been through them about 15 times now testing characters, and I want to rip out my eyes everytime I see them.

the original thread i made was all about ideas and suggestions but a mod locked it and said that i should post my ideas here...

also i think that biotics should work on people with armour, or perhaps higher level pull or puch should work on people with armour because the fact that i can't pull or puch someone with armour seems weird, armour should affect bullet attacks and melee only, barriers should affect biotic attacks.

also the helmet toggle is a good idea too, helmets give you bonuses but i found myself never wearing one because when i talked to someone it would stay on which takes away from the gameplay a bit.

1. crouch, as said before. dont need 2 buttons for objective marker, and its very annoying to run thru bullets goin to low cover when you know the ability to crouch would stop that.

2. Planet scanning change. the system itself isnt necessarily bad, its just too slow and tedious. speed it up, make nodes clearly defined, and dont make 20+ nodes per planet... first time playing you dont know how much resources you need and you scan everything, eating up alot of time and fun only to later find out that you scanned about 70,000 iridium too much.

3. MOAR SIDEQUESTS! honestly, i loved them. every mission was like an episode of star trek, and i loved the atmospheric sci-fi setting missions, same with loyalty quests, showing that they dont need to force combat into every mission to make it interesting. really wanna see more sidequests like this in ME3 (maybe some actual hazardous planets requiring sealed suits and haestrom-like hazards.)

4. helmet toggle, cause having to talk thru bug eyes and T-masks really killed the preorder armor for me.

5.more armor. pretty self-explanatory. was really disapointed that i only had 2-3 different parts to choose from. more patterns to choose from as well; colours were alright, but very little room to apply them to the desired spots. for instance, loved the pattern of liberator armor from ME1, but not the colours, wouldve loved to have been able to edit it.

5. strategic upgrades. as in having multiple armor/weapon mods that have varying effects to choose from instead of just having a bunch of direct upgrades. make us have to choose which upgrades to use again, weapons were much more personal in ME1 when i had control over how the weapon fired instead of just auto upgrading every weapon of the type.

6. stop having every shep use ARs in cutscenes. in ME1, we used pistols because all sheps had them, and when we did pull out non-trained weapons, we at least had the excuse that shepard was carrying it. now, shepard apparently carries a basic AR crammed somewhere hidden for use in cutscenes. do not want. cant be that hard to use pistols or replace that AR with the proper sniper or shotgun. very much kills the mood when my adept decides to stop flinging collectors like ragdolls and pulls out her magical invisa-rifle that she has no experience using.

7. fish-tank auto-feeder. we have advanced stealth tehcnology and AI subroutines on the normandy, but this is too high a technolgy to have? on that topic, have some alien-looking fish. most would look earth-like, but some kahje luminescent gulper eels or tuchankan death squid would be some awesome additions.

8. colour options for casual appearance. the ship obviously comes with armor stain, why not cloth dye?

9. 10 levels of skills with 1 point each. exactly the same as ME2 but im not punished for not having calculated point investments so that im not left with unusable points for no good reason. ability to redistribute does not change inability to have my own build.

10. rebalance/ reform ammo system. found myself constantly using smgs because my sniper and pistol cant last one fight. would really like a hybrid of ME1 and ME2 systems, keep tension for wasting bullets but dont leave us defenseless,  jsut less capable of defending.

11. fuel system be gone. more annoying than anything, even after upgrade. combined with tedious scanning, exploring new systems is more of chore than anything.

12. more weapons/ customization options for them. we had 2-3 weapons for each class, each basically replacing the last, and nothing but direct upgrades, leaving less variety than ME1. have more weapons per class, or better yet, modular weapons like armor. shep needs the best, he can already modulate his armor for maximum effect, only makes sense he would mod his weapons too. a few pattern and colour options, and you have way more variety than ever, and weapons are actually personal.

13. the only limit to shepard's vocabulary should be the lines you record. was very frustrated that shepard not being nice or naughty enough means he cant resist morinth. shepard's actions have spoken volumes towards being feared or loved regardless of previous choices. youd think being neutral would make me more diplomatic, but instead i cant work a conversation either way. our choices should very much have consequences, but shepard's ability to speak shouldnt be one of them.

14. endgame save delete feature. i really, really, REALLY need this bioware, and there is no good reason to not simply put a 'press x to delete' feature when importing. i already have countless cluttered saves that i dont want, dont clog up my screen and memory for no reason.

15. party banter and interactions. i activate a geth in the ship, accept him as part of the team, and tali didnt even mention it until i did both their missions. squad was emotionally dead to the world when not on the ship, a little "man this place stinks", "this place is more crowded than the flotilla" or "what do organics seek to gain by gyrating on a stage together?" would go a long way to livening up the characters.

the more i like a game, the more i obsess about improving it. take my long list as a compliment bioware.:)

Agreed to all.  I like the reloading mechanic, but ammo is far to limited.  Why not take the best of both worlds and have a reloading heat sink with unlimited clips?

Thanks! Chocolate chip, my favourite! :P

Whiny forums aren't bad if they explain why they're whining tho, if they complain about the game and then explain how the issue can be fixed it's not bad, but i assume you're talking about people who just say that the game was a waste of time and that it sucked. those threads are pointless, I just feel like saying "yeah okay you don't like it so post something constructive that explains WHY you don't like it!"

I just thought since Bioware improved ME2 by listening to thoughts from ME1 i should probably make a thread or a post explaining what i think could be fixed... hopefully the moderators will sticky this thread and hopefully Bioware will make the changes people suggest.

Also this is a response to jpetrey123, but the post above does bring up some good points as well. The fish tank was my worst enemy, i kept forgeting to feed the fish :( that's why i have a dog in real life and no fish :P

Helmet toogle or anything that doesn't involve having your helmet welded to your body. Selecting and coloring your armor is a win though. Please add more armor selections.

  • Exploration.  i want to be able to explore at least a few more worlds and/or have more open areas to explore in the citadel and other cities.  It is a little bit too limited in ME2 (i do, however, understand that there is only so much the devs can do for one game).
  • Customization:  There needs to be a happy medium between the loot/inventory system of the first game and the upgrade system of this game.  Perhaps making it so there are lots of different armor/weapon items to be found with different visuals, while allowing the player to assign specific bonuses to each piece based on research and discovered upgrades would be a good way to do it.  Regardless, the current system would be much more forgivable if there were more than 2-4 pieces available for each section of armor.
  • Resource system:  They just need to either remove this from the game or overhaul it into a more enjoyable system.
  • Immersion:  Still better than most games out there, but a little more dialogue while exploring or fighting would be welcome.  Also it would be awesome if there were more random npc's you could have (short) conversations with.
  • Squad Conversations:  Going back to immersion, a little bit more in the way of new conversations that can occur on the normandy between missions.  I understand that sometimes it is limited because of the part of the story you are in, but a little bit more interaction, at least among the primary members of the story in some cases would be nice.  (I do think bioware has done an amazing job overall on dialogue and can appreciate the scope of what they are doing here with all the writing and full voice acting).
  • Consequences:  More permanant consequences from renegade/paragon decisions would be awesome as well, though i'm not too judgemental on this as we have no idea what the actions from this game will effect in ME3.
All that being said, I love the game.  I feel like they took the majority of the things that worked well from ME1 and made them better (the combat especially), while at least removing alot of the monotony from the things that didn't work (some side missions, mako controls, explorable planets all being basically the same).  I do think that if they make a few more adjustments for the third game it could be just about as close to perfect as a story-driven game like this could be.
