What I don't understand is how BioWare hasn't fixed this yet. Persona 3 had social links. (People compained about the automatic relationships with the female social links (MC was a guy) in Persona 4 one game later there was Friendship paths!  BioWare still hasn't gotten this right! :(

Nice to know that i'm not the only one comparing ME's romances and relationships to Persona 4's. I've done the same for Dragon Age, and Atlus found them both lacking. I DARE you to resist Rise when she starts crying on your shoulders!

1. improve the cover system - if you want to copy gears, do it properly. all you need to do is make the sliding into cover motion have a longer "reach" - so its the same for sprinting as when normal running (and for christ sakes a fully trained soldier should be able to sprint for a lot longer than this). basically you should be able to slide into and out of cover seamlessly from further away is what i'm trying to say - at the moment it only works sometimes when sprinting. also when in cover the "strafe" controls for moving side to side should be less sensitive - it's far too easy to slide when you're not trying to. also entering some cover makes you face the wrong way so you can't pop-out and shoot from it, very odd.

2. get rid of the heat-sinks. they don't work, it's just ammo and frankly annoying. in the future i'd expect soldiers to bring enough goddamn "ammo" for a mission - except heavy weapons, sure they should be limited, but 10 rounds for a sniper rifle? you can "up the intensity" with better enemies and more of them rather than arbitrary limits to the player.

3. all firefights on "normal" worlds (party loyalty missions especially) should not always take place in warehouses! some of the level design is stunning in this game, but a lot of it is in the non-combat zones. i don't have a big problem with arbitrary cover areas (collector ship/wherever) but falling back on crates in warehouses so often is lazy.

4. weapons should look cool, the best sniper rifle looks like a big tube, and is most definitely not as cool to look at as the other snipers in the game, whatever it's power. cool guns should look and feel cool.

5. why on earth can't you talk to your squad-mates on planets? ok maybe the cast is too big to do all the lines, but it is definitely immersion-=breaking to have 2 silent companions at all times, except during conversation scenes.

6. no "mission end" screens - again, immersion-breaking and although they may link the story better, i had to dock at omega 3 times to complete that world properly and go back to illium when i'd obviously gone past a certain pre-determined point in the story, to finish there (which is where i'm at now).

that's all i can think of now, it's overall easily the best game i have ever played and probably the best science-fiction media experience ever, hell you can lose the sci f caveat and it would still apply, but it's not a perfect game by any means.

something extra i forgot:

bonus armours not being able to take the helmet off in a conversation/character-heavy rpg. not smart and i can't see how this was ever overlooked. talk armour systems all you want but that was plain dumb - i love the look of the collector and terminus armours as much as the n7 one and their stats are much better, but i can only wear them on n7 missions...

Hmmmm i agree with most of your suggestions but i have some things to add:

1.I agree with this one, i personally didn't find it too sensitive but it can be improved overall.

2.I thought the heat-sinks were fine, the only thing i didn't like about them is that you carried too few. considering that 1 heat sink is a little bigger than the size of your thumb, carrying around only 4 extra ones for a pistol seems weird, there not that big so just carry around more than 4 extra ones!

3.I myself didn't notice the repetitive-ness but at least it's better than ME1 where every inside area was actually the same thing...

4.this is really up to the person who plays the game, i thought that the weapons looked cool (although i'm a biotic and i only used the pistol, SMG, and the shotgun when i got the chance)

5.Yes i agree with this one, the only time you can talk with then, like you said, is when theres a "talking point" which is the area that you select and one of your people talk. I think they should add in the status report thing from the first game where you select your teammate and they say something about the planet or comment on the situation.

6.This one really isn't too bad but i'll admit going back to the same place 2-3 times to get teammates or finish missions was annoying, there should've been an option to go back to the Normandy or stay on the planet.

7. The armour thing is dissapointing as well, i found myself always wearing the N7 armour because wearing a helmet when talking ruins the cinematic moment.

also something else (which i know has been mentioned everywhere) is the fact that you can't be freindly with one of your squadmates, you can either have romance with them or be an aquantence with them, there is no in-between. I really hope they fix this for ME3.

1) adding coercion skill

As is the alignment system basically forces to chose to be either strictly Renegade or Paragon. I'm used to having had both corresponding bars full in ME1, enabled me to talk to the people as I saw fit.

In KotoR your allignment at least had an influence on your forcepowers.

2) change burst fire

I see two possibilities:

a) make it "restricting" - as long as you hold the trigger, up to *3* rounds can be fired; when releasing the trigger the gun should stop firing even if only 1 bullet was fired

B) enable full auto mode (preferred)

3) a wider variety of guns would be much appreciated

I also kind of preferred the old elevator system to the load screen. I feel like immersion is lost when I go from one deck of the ship to another and a load screen shows up. All they really had to do was speed up the elevators a bit and make them a little more interesting to look at.

Also something I wished there was more of, was more interaction among the crew members. Dragon age does a good job of it....when party members trade insults or stories or talking while you are exploring certain locations.

yes indeed, more interaction would be good. and also about the elevators, i think on the Normandy the elevator loading would be good but the main complaint was elevators on the Citadel. Elevators on the Normandy are good i think (because of immersion like you said) but on other places there not too hot.

I agree with original 3 requests. I also prefer the ME1 galaxy map approach to the ME2 approach (although I appreciate the % completed & anomaly detection), it's a minor issue. It's also probably not as patchable as the original 3 requests.  I also agree that the idle banter between members in elevators & on location were definitely nice.  I think the loading screen thing was just a defensive posture to get people to "shut up already" as now the game is like most other games so now it's just "status quo".  I don't necessarily agree w/this but it's understandable.

Here's a link to my thread with some additional things I miss from ME1:

I can see that I guess.

The end of mission screen bothers me too.  In ME1, you could report in to the council or not etc. after a mission was over but you were still essentially playing and moving around the ship.  Why can't you do that this time.  At the end of a mission you should be able to report to Illusive man or the council rather than read the crappy end of mission screen.

Just a thought anyway.

I haven't read the whole thread, but here are my suggestions:

-Keep the new Skill-Targeting with curving, but please fix it, that they sometimes switch from curving to direct homing in mid flight.

-Change the Skill-Level-System to an inbetween of ME1 and ME2.

Each skill can be still upgraded in 4 steps, but one step need's just one point.

The points had to be reduced to balance it.

The System as it is, is annoying. It keeps the player from making the char he/she want's, without having some points on a skill you never use or have skill-points left because one point is missing to upgrade the skill.

-Weapons: More options and although I like the upgrade-system, I'd like some more costumization like in ME1. Sights, fire-rate(balanced through damage) or clip-size(balanced by accuracy because of the weapon-weight or such).

-Armor: The design is great, but there are not enough different parts(except we get a bunch of new parts-dlc soon).

-Mining...it's just boring after the second planet. It's a nice idea, but it isn't as funny as the new hacking-games.

-Overload-Skill: Although all other skills at my sentinel made sense, the Overload was useless most times. Many enemies had biotic barriers or machines are protected by their armor.

Giving the skill little upgrade to overload weapons for a short ammount of time too, would give it a little more sense(just my oppinion).

Synthetics aren't the main-enemy anymore, so the skill needs a bit more meanings than just shield-rupture or robot-damage.

Although we can change our skill-build, the skill would need to be a bit more effective in my oppinion.

-Helmets and Dialoges: I totally agree, that the helmets should have an option to show the face of shepard in Dialoges.

Maybe the facial part could open somehow in dialoges, leaving just a shield for the air-supply.

After the dialoge, the helmets could close again.

Fantastic thread!! Tons and tons of great suggestions in here and it's great to see that someone from Bioware has actually been reading it.

I'd like to say that for starters, even though I agree with many (if not most) of the suggestions from this thread, I still think ME2 is a great game. Here's my 2 cents on suggestions:

The one thing I'd really love to see is more of that "living world" feel. What I mean by that is this: Many of us put so much time and effort into our first ME1 playthrough(s) that it would be great to be actually able to see/experience things that your decisions had an impact on. While it's cool to hear about it second hand from news kiosks or other NPC's, I want to be able to go and see things to actually FEEL like I made a difference in this world. I'm sure that's probably easier said than done, but for me, currently it doesn't make it feel much like I really needed to play ME1 in order to play this one (which yeah, I know I didn't). But for those of us dedicated fans, we want to see cause and effect from our decisions on things like the Rachni Queen or Zhu's Hope for example, just to name a few.

Still, I'm not bashing. It's a good game and I'm enjoying it. Just my suggestions. :)

yeah i agree, instead of hearing about Zhu's Hope how bout we go there? and i'd like to visit the places that are the starting point of Shepard (the 3 options are the parents killed in slave raid, parents were in the alliance military, and earth born.) which reminds me: we should be able to go to Earth... how bout in ME3 we can land in Edmonton and see Bioware Studios there? that would be awesome

I'd like the sense of immersion put back.

I found the 'Mission Complete' screen the most immersion breaking aspect and it completely ruined my enjoyment of the game. I really hated how 99% of the game involved Shepard 'spawning' at a new location, then that stupid mission complete screen popping up when you complete the objective (or the highly annoying 'press B to leave' message which wasn't quite as bad) then Shepard spawns away from the area, usually back to the Normandy.

I found that this made the game seem much smaller, more linear, less real that in ME1.

I've played through Mass Effect 2 twice now, and though I enjoy it for the most part there are a few things that get really irritating with multiple play-throughs. After I finished the 1st play-through I thought I could just do a 2nd one without having to worry about scanning planets and hunting for upgrades... but I was wrong.

I could forgive and forget everything that I don't like about ME 2 if Bioware would let our shepards keep their upgrades when doing a NG+, that way I only have to scan planets on 1 play-through with each different class I play with, so I can spend more time just enjoying the story and characters rather than having to worry about whether or not I have enough resources to get all the upgrades.

I made a thread that gives suggestions for ME3, but they could also be taken into consideration for ME2 DLC. It's not a giant wall of text, it's just four suggestions with some details about each. One important thing I will mention in this post is that all romance characters (that weren't killed off in ME1 or ME2) should exist and be on your team throughout all of ME3. Do NOT force them to get killed off, and do NOT force the relationship apart like how in ME2 you are forced to move on from your ME1 romance partner.

My ME3 Suggestions Thread Link -----> social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/103/index/933855

Thanks. Mass Effect 2 is amazing. Can't wait for ME2 DLC and ME3 Image IPB.

I would like a ship upgrade that automates mineral scanning but uses up a number of probes relative to the amount of good to excellent mineral hotspots on the planet, and maybe still require manual scans to nail smaller deposits.

I don't really miss crouching, given the auto-crouch when in low cover, and the fact that stealth only works if you're an Infiltrator using the cloaking power.

After an hour of playing, I think that Running and Cover should be ripped from Use, and be bindable alone/together (Run and Cover I mean). Also a bind for Journal and Skills.

in addition to my earlier points, this keeps happening:

I've just charged some big ass Krogan with my vanguard and want to RUN AWAY

............. unfortunately my guy ducks into cover right at the feet of the bloody Krogan because THEY ARE THE SAME FRIGGIN BUTTON "massive facepalm"

1. Helmet toggle. Also have an option to have helmet off during conversations/friendly places.
2. More stuff do with romance options.
3. Paragon and Renegade points shouldn't unlock or restrict charm/intimidate options.
4. ME2 squad mates in ME3...especially Tali.
5. A great ending for the romance options in ME3...especially Tali
6. X button should not choose options...it isn't hard to press x and a repeatedly if I want to skip through everything.
7. Great game Bioware!

Gameplay:

* An in-game stock market set up to sell off some of your excess minerals since it's quite easy to get several times more minerals than you have credits.

* Fiddle with the assault rifles to make them a bit more accurate.

* Make the shotguns more useful ala that shotgun mod that was posted.

* Allow us to set squad points for team members from the private terminal instead of just before a mission starts.

* Speed up planet scanning for the 360 prior to the scanner upgrade.

Upgrades:

* More ship stuff that can actually payoff in the endgame, like a multi-warhead missile that the Narada used in Star Trek, or a better point defense system (which can be shown off in an N7 mission cutscene or something).

* Definitely more stuff for the guns, especially heavy weapons. Just getting ammo increases seemed kinda cheap.

* Make the Medbay upgrade cheaper or allow Garrus to use it to fix his face. It seems like a waste of minerals to get something that can only fix your face.

Armor:

* More pieces, possibly more patterns.

* The ability to color the preorder bonus armor.

Missions:

* Maybe an expansion with Shepard and company retaking a hijacked frigate from some mercs, starting with combat on the outer hull, then moving into the ship, with interaction with the ship's crew.

* Interesting side missions with some tough choices.

* Maybe have some missions that showcase the upgrades to the Normandy prior to going through the Omega 4 relay. It really bugs me that I don't know if the minerals I invested were put to good use until I pass the point of no return.

* Something involving hanar, like a bunch of hanar are being held hostage because they're preventing some company from nabbing a Prothean artifact or something.
