What I don't understand is how BioWare hasn't fixed this yet. Persona 3 had social links. (People compained about the automatic relationships with the female social links (MC was a guy) in Persona 4 one game later there was Friendship paths!  BioWare still hasn't gotten this right! :(

Nice to know that i'm not the only one comparing ME's romances and relationships to Persona 4's. I've done the same for Dragon Age, and Atlus found them both lacking. I DARE you to resist Rise when she starts crying on your shoulders!

Its easy enough for me. Even if Yosuke constant adding of the MC as something other than family and friends makes me lol at the Ho Yay.

Still BioWare devs friendship paths are a necessity. Please? AT least that way we won't end up hating a character just because we were unable to romance them and didn't actually see all 3 dimensions of the character.

As for the ammo-question: How about getting rid of the ammo counter and displaying a heat-sink-counter instead you can carry a fixed amount of heat-sinks that act as universal ammo for all guns (like magazines in Rainbow Six/Deus Ex)

As for gameplay: please patch it so that the last and final mission can be restarted BEFORE you choose the leader for Specialist/Fireteam that way a wrong decision can be easily rectified instead of wasting 40+h of gameplay culminating in watching a squadmate die (R.I.P Legion :crying: )

Last but not least: Helmet toggle.

Hey Dev's you did good in Dragon Age (Helmet on if equipped ,helmet off when cutscene/dialogue), why not in Mass Effect 2 (or at least please consider it for ME3)

My own POLITE suggestions to improve combat:

Has anyone here played any of the Ghost Recon FPS/tactics games?  I love the combat and control in those games.  You are able to direct 3 other troops in your platoon with a fairly fine grain.  Besides having the ability to position your guys in a manner similar to how it is done in ME2 (first person view) you are also able to take on an overhead 2nd person/god's eye view within which you can zoom in or out to cover a larger area.  Doing this, you are able to direct specific troops to specific locations AND then direct them to watch/direct fire over a particular sector.  I would like this ability in the forthcoming ME3.  It would be so helpful to be able to direct one of your troops to cover over there while another is directed to cover over here, while you can move to wherever - and you aren't limited by your immediate first person view.

Stealth:  rather than the simple "your character steps past this point so all enemy troops move to attack" rules, how about making it more like Far Cry?  If you are stealthy and careful in that game, at least in SOME situations, you are able to sneak past the enemy.  At best, you may only have to fight briefly at the trailing edge of a situation because you managed to sneak past the worst of it.

Drones:  Drones in this world should be useful for more than (their rather weak) direct fire support.  They should also serve as your "eyes" beyond your immediate view.  A drone launch should provide you with a map of the area as it moves about.  You could launch a drone into a new area/room and get a (near) full map of the entire local area/room and from there be able to direct troops to cover positions based upon that, as described above.  Perhaps there could be two types of drones:  a combat drone more in line with their current status AND a recon drone that is stealthy and acts as a forward scout and isn't necessarily immediately spotted and destroyed - also giving away your presense.

AI:  Companions needs more combat smarts.  They should NEVER stand there in the open and spray fire at the enemy.  NEVER.  They should ALWAYS take advantage of any cover available and fire from there, even if you did not specifically direct them to a full cover position.  Standing there in the open and spraying-and-praying rounds at the enemy is what untrained, undisciplined gangs or random thugs or typical M.East terrorists do.  They stand there in the full open, rifle at the hip(?!) and simply spray and pray that a round will magically find a target.  HAH!  So, make them smarter.  Have them ALWAYS make use of whatever cover is available in their immediate areas.  If there is none, WHAT ARE THEY DOING IN THAT POSITION?!  MOVE to a better position with cover.  If I direct them to a cover position and as the battle progresses that position becomes untenable (overrun) then they should know enough to MOVE OUT/FALL BACK to a new COVERED position.

Finally, it would be nice to be able to bring along more than just 2 other people on at least some of your missions.  With a Ghost Recon-style tactics control system it would be possible to direct 3 or even 4 other members without becoming overwhelmed (and spending all your time directing them rather than directing your own character in a battle).

A more general suggestion, non-combat-related.  Please make ME3 BIGGER.  How about 4 DVD discs so that the universe, the missions, side missions, and exploration can be much vaster?  It will be the last of the series so make it really count.  More dialog, more free-roaming, more exploration (beyond simple mineral hunts on dead worlds).  I'd love to be able to freely visit places all over the Citadel, or see much more of cities on this or that planet, or find ruins, new life, etc, on landable/searchable planets.  Go big so you go out (with the series) with a big bang.

Love the ME games.  I get immersed and, for better or worse, get nearly obsessed playing such that I spend way too much time getting through it (at least the first time).  I love them so much that I want MORE.

-Technically, planets could be so much better. I like traveling and seeing all those planets in game but each time something is bothering me: everything is too much static. I mean everyone and everything has it's place and they never leave it. It's ok for NPC but how about making a crowd or dynamic change of "extra actors" positions.

-Make the team more useful. I really liked to make multiple squads in the final mission. During the entire game in ME1 and ME2, I brought the same characters with me in my commando, the others just stayed in the normandy. How about giving tasks to them or something. Something different would be making a injury system: as they keep falling, characters would be injured and unavailable for some times, so it will force the player to choose other characters.

-About the cooling system. I like both system, why not making the player choose? Being able to change weapon parts to tweak the cooling system, add a scope, attach a grenade launcher etc would be really cool.

-The aiming: I'll REALLY appreciate if I could switch shoulders while aiming, like in MGS4, Gears of war or Splinter Cell.

-Climbing: make it so we don't have to back on the wall first. It's kinda weird and slow.

-Hacking: In ME1 we got manual override or omni gel override, now we just have manuel, how come? In addition to manual and omnigel override, how about an automatic wireless override available only to engineer or something else. You'd have to stay near the device for a certain time and voilà, hacked. This way, we can fight and hack in the same time.

-Many times my commando spoke to me and as I walked, they got interrupted by meaningless crowd speech. It's annoying. Make speeches priorities, commando's first, crowd's second.

-The mako disappeared, I don't miss it now we have a shuttle that drops us directly to the mission. How about multiple drop points? We choose where to land, moreover it would perfectly fit with my previous suggestion about making the team more useful as we could make multiple squads.

-Harvesting: Hmm, well I'm used to harvesting with MMORPG, no matter what game it is, it's always a pain. But in MMORPG, we can buy ressources. Here's a suggestion that fits again with my previous suggestion about making the team more useful: for example, give Mordin the task to find ressources for a specific research, it will take time, but at least the player don't have to do it. We could give Mordin credits too, in order to buy ressources.

-Dubbing: please, just like Dragon Age Origins, make it simple to change voice language and text language.

-Credits: Shepard is always working for an organisation. I suggest a salary system. I remember in Final Fantasy VIII, there was a salary system wich gave you credits in  each specific number of steps. The amount of that salary depended on your behavior, if you acted good, you got a bigger salary. For example, I'm working with Cerberus but I don't share their motivation, my actions reflects that, so my salary just keep getting smaller. But fortunatly, I'm working for the alliance too, so they reward me with credits in counterpart.

Good thread =] My suggestions are to do mainly with the lack of customisation issue in ME2. ;)

(1) The new inventory system (Normandy and Stations) is cool, however, there is hardly any customisation at these stations. You are forced to wear heavy armor (even if playing an Infiltrator Assasin) and there is a serious lack of armor types. I mean without the pre-ordered, promotional or collecter's edition armors, you are stuck with the N7 armor for the whole game.

<3Polite Suggestion<3: Keep the current systems intact, but allow light, medium and heavy variations of armors (maybe being able to choose between these at the armor station for a particular armor) and provide a wider variety of armor types to aquire in the game. On this note, allow the helmets to come off somehow during conversations [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/happy.png[/smilie]

(2) Same as above for weapons:

[smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/heart.png[/smilie]Polite Suggestion[smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/heart.png[/smilie]: Just provide a few different types of the various weapon classes. It doesn't need to be hunderds or anything, just a decent variety of weapon selection to be able to customise your Shepard more.

(3) Skill system.
There's nothing chronically wrong with it, but I mean it could be possible to extend the skill trees to provide more of a variety of skills/powers to choose - allowing you to customise your Shepard's build/playstyle more.

(4) Being able to outfit your squad.

The other issue brought up by fans is the lack of exploration in comparison to the first Mass Effect. Namely, the best example being the Citadel which has a lot less exploration potential than in the first game. Also being able to explore planets in some way. A greater sense of exploration in ME is something that would appeal to all parties in my opinion. ../../../images/forum/emoticons/sideways.png

Ya! *High Fives*. Jack is my favorite. They need to keep her and every other character you can have a romance with, in ME3. That would really suck if they don't. And they better not pull another thing where you only see them once throughout the whole story. Every character you can have a romance with from ME1 and ME2 should be available as part of your squad in ME3.

I would like to see bigger cities and mission as well as allies would talk to each other about what was going on and what was happen in on the ship.

I did like the inventory system and the elevators the over load screens in ME 1 but that maybe just me.

sorry if I wrote something wrong.

Here's a polite request to remove an irritation (hopefully simple):

On the 360 version the main menu comes up with "New Content Available" displayed by default.  Only after the Cerberus Network is connected to is the text removed when no new content is actually found.

That's completely the opposite of the way it should work.  You should only be told that new content is available when it's been positively confirmed by the program - it's like Lucy yanking the football away from Charlie Brown to tease players, and I don't see why it's necessary to work the way it is now.

Along the same lines, a scrolling message at the bottom of the menu declaring "New Content Available" when there is none is annoying.

I'd suggest a hybrid ammo system, allowing you to "backtrack" to ME1's overheating system if you are out of Thermal Clips.

Everything else I'd like to see changed is probably out of the scope of this thread (cough Tali/Femshep relationship resolution).

2. Return the helmet toggle feature. While the custom armors and new helmets are impressive looking, they do present issues. The full-head helmets can be immersion-breaking and annoying during conversations, especialy with characters that are supposed to recognize or comment on your face. Additionaly, when ordering drinks from bars, Shepard will magicaly drink straight through the helmet. (SCIENCE, LOL!) Unfortunately, the only solution now is to not equip a helmet, and sacrifice an armor boost. Returning the helmet toggle would be the easiest, simplest solution.

Another solution is to have modular faceplates like the weapons where when your talking to someone the faceplate does some cool Iron man-esk sliding back from the helm which is something i thought would make sense considering the technology level in Mass Effect 2 but failing that a toggle would work.

i wanna get rid of the scars but keep the cool, glowing red eyes.

also the guns don't feel like kinetic railguns anymore, they lack weight for the mostpart and look like stereotypical "blasters" now, not solid projectiles travellling at significationt fractions of lightspeed. mass effect 1 guns (the assault rifle in particular) had a wonderful feel of power and kinetics with their projectiles and trails.

My suggestions:

1) Make the locations more alive and active. Have your crew move around the ship, interact with each other and the environment. I want to see my crew have a daily pattern, go to sleep, get up, eat food in the mess, etc etc. Same with the Citadel, I want to see people walking around, buying stuff, going places to eat etc. At the moment all the locations just feel like some weird anamatronic set, what with everyone just standing there...

2) Allow us to do more with our LI. Talk to them more after "the deed" is done. Take 'em out for Varren steaks, whatever. I'd like to be able to socialise with my crew more to. Take 'em out for drinks maybe.

3) Have the crew and characters ask how WE feel. Why do we have to spend the entire game doing stuff for other people? It was nice when Kelly asked us how we felt about breaking up with Ash/Kaiden after New Horizon. Suddenly we were allowed to show some emotion, rather than being this soul-less robot all the time. It made our characters more human, and added depth. I'd like to see characters take an interest in how MY character feels. People close to him have died, HE'S died, and the one person he loved dumped him. He's earned the right for people to be concerned about HIM for once, don't you think?

Maybe you could have the ability to discuss the mission so far, or your previous mission with your LI or crew. Maybe it could tie in with their loyalty, and how interested they are/how much they care about you, whatever. Just give me a chance to expand on MY character, rather than just the brief background options.

Thanks.

In general, more squaddie to squaddie interaction would be nice.  It was implemented to a small degree in ME2, but really, it would require no more work than the ambient dialogue trigger points of Dragon Age, and doing so would get us a lot more interaction among the squad members.  Like the ME1 elevator talks, but less aggravating.

This thread is very cathartic, but I doubt very much that Bioware is going to change any of the core mechanics or gameplay elements. I mean this isn't TF2. That being said, here is my wishlist:

1. Biotic power tweaks - I'll just repost this from another thread because Malacroix said it all:

- Shields not affected by biotics at all, but not stopping biotics from affecting target (maybe with a reduced effectiveness)

- Armor makes targets more resistant to biotics - i.e. target is considered "heavier" when pulled/thrown/singed (ME1 had a similar thing with one of the exoskeleton armor uprgades), and Warp/Singularity do less damage. This makes sense because the target has much more mass and is much more dense on the outside

- Pure health highly affected by biotics - i.e. Heavy Warp killing them outright (completely messes up internal organs), and Throw smashing them so hard they lose consciousness for a time

- Barrier having a unique relationship with biotics - can completely stop some powers (pull/throw) but is totally destroyed by Warp (maybe even damaging target).

4. Ammo 'powers' shouldn't affect cooldown of biotic / tech powers

I agree almost completely with these 2 points.  Although I think shields should still completely block biotics, barrier should be very resistant to them, but armor should still be affected by powers like pull and throw, however, absorbing some of the force and/duration of the power.

I will take 4 a step further to say that powers of different types should have different cool downs.  Tech, Ammo, Biotics should have separate cool downs.  After all what does using my omni tool have to do with using my biotics.

I'm gonna guess it reflects the time it takes for you to mentally 'shift gears' and focus on triggering your biotic ability.  Instead of introducing a 'casting time' delay when you trigger the ability they've done the 'cool down' period.

P.S.  I've played through after importing a level 60 ME1 character.  I guess I gained enough bonuses that I have a 3 second cooldown on my bonus Slam skill.

I like it.  :)

My squadmates' cooldowns are longer, but not so horrible.  And remember it is one cooldown for everything, but it's shorter than the cooldowns on the individual abilities in ME1.

make biotic cooldowns as long as me1 but also just as powerful.
