For actually ending the mission, why not have Kelly, Joker of EDI radio Shepard and inform them that it appears that the mission is over, and do they want to return to the Normandy. Perhaps a button to call the Normandy, instead to the automatic return pop-up. For example, the message button lights up, or blinks, after the mission is complete, and Shepard can call the Normandy, or continue to explore. Once the player clicks on the message button, they get the option, via dialog to return to Normandy. Maybe a little joke here, like "Beam me up, Scotty."
Another thought: Why can't galactic news be accessible via the captain's cabin? You have a desk, surely you can have a monitor allowing you to listen to news reports.
I'm a fan of a hybrid ammo system, still allow players to use the weapon without heat sinks, but heat builds up and will overheat the weapon, slowing the rate of fire. I trade off a favored weapon for being able to use it less, but still be able to use it, and am not forced to switch weapons when I run out of ammo. A mechanic I thought about is: I fire my weapon until it overheats, I can wait for the heat to disperse at a rate of 25% per second (making me wait 4 seconds for a "full" magazine, or I can pop a heat sink and get an instant reload. As a side not to this, please consider making the heat sinks universal across all weapons, as mentioned above. They are a universal drop item, so it makes sense to me that they are interchangable. Also, if you're going to have finite ammo, why not at least have a melee combat weapon. Most soldiers I know at least carry a bayonet or combat knife that they can use as a final backup.
Just my thoughts.

Just a thought about the Mission Complete Screen. At the end of the mission, why not just provide an update via the in-game email? That way, in addition to the data being immersive, it provides a historical record of mission progress.

That is not innaccurate...
i agree with the Heat sink thing and i actually thought before you made that post that they should've done that (not bragging just saying that i;m not replying just to increase my post count...)
something else i thought they should have is more heat sinks, sure you can upgrade the count but there the zise of your thumb if not bigger so why does he only carry around 4 extra ones? i think 7 or 8 would be more realistic...

I'd like to be able to play around with the perspective of the face a little more in the character creator. Sometimes you really can't get a good sense of how your creation looks until you get in the game and see it in action and in cut scenes. If you could zoom out a little or do a full rotation of your head, that would help a lot.
I think it would be helpful to have your Paragon/Renegade scores carry over into a new game +. While it's incredibly rewarding to play a dedicated Paragon/Renegade, sometimes it's frustrating being limited in your responses if you want to ensure success later on. I think having both options available on subsequent playthoughs would make for a more interesting character. I also don't see how it would be unbalanced in any way.
Additionally, I really don't like the Renegade scarring. I always thought it was incredibly corny that games like KoToR and Fable had physical consequences attached to your alignment. I always thought that ME1 was a step forward in that you didn't grow horns if you were a Renegade (nevermind the fact that I don't think Paragon/Renegade are exactly analogous to "good/evil" anyway). Yeah, you can pay to remove the scars, but it was a silly thing to put in.
One last thing - it would be nice to be able to tweak your face (not class) on a New Game + too, but I won't get greedy.

2. It was very disapointing to see that i have just 2 weapons to choose from every group. Diverse options like in mass effect 1 was very good, only thing that was annoying is that it was very slow to organize things and when you hit the crate you couldnt click cancel to not pick any item, or just pick one that you want.
3. I thought we will see some cool armours but there was no armors in a sense like in mass effect 1. Very disapointing, and your team members cannot carry armour. Very very disapointing. Use old armours from ME1 and implement it if you must, its not that hard. Implement those new system 10 % healt this crap or 5 % on this and that, if you must, but bring back armor. Give us variety.
It is not that hard when you have already 2 games based on UT3 engine, and almost the same graphic, you could use old crates, boxes, trees, etc stuff to make maps more colorfull.
4. Scan system very very boring, it would be more fun if you could find many interesting things on planets like some messages about long lost civilizations, data collect like protean data discs, only this time more like a parts of the diary that you collect like it was done in mission helping Liara in ME2. And on the end you get some crazy upgrade, new weapon, or you just find out more about proteans and other old civ, even hint some 100000 old records of species before proteans. Or you can find some derelict ships, send them to flotilla, alliance or cerebrus, make them more fond of you.
Find some tehnology that will help humans, quarians etc. It says that your actions matter in galaxy in this particular moment not just in ME3.
4. I now remember why i always returned for me1. It was because of the all the collecting things. These mission on planets now have no spirit. They are nice and colorfull, but small and boring, after 2-3 plays. But old system where you are in the control was more fun. When people talked about diverse planets, they thought about many planets you can land and drive in mako more different terrain, rocks, atmosphere colors, ruins of the old civilizations., background suns, moons, planets, more colorfull grass, and more interesting things to find on the planet not just one probe like in me1. (it was breathtaking in me1), exploration was awesome in me1 but people wanted more variety of planets, not just small area where you land. Epic feeling thaqt i had is now long goone.
5.Planets are very ugly now, some planets are ok. Planets were more alive in me1 (in galactic view), and beautifull.
6. There were no breathtaking maps like in mass effect 1. Like Ilos. Ilos was briliant map, with creapy sounds that was awesome, very beautifull and egzotic map. Feros was not that brilliant like ilos but that old constructions of old mysterious fallen civilization Protheans was awesome. It was breathtaking, i havent had similar situation like that in me2 where i would just stay and admire the view (Virmire included).
7. If Bioware wanted to make this epic in some way they should make at least 5 mission where you prevent collectors from takin other human colonies, or missions where you set back their plans (like the Geth bases in Me1) and where you give them pain in the ass. Final mission would be more realistic that hatred from Harbinger would be justified.
8. In me1 maps were connected like that of the citadel. Now i dont see C of citadel. It didnt gave collosal feeling of mass effect 1. Tham i dont think is that hard to atleast implement old maps in mass effect 2 and make some missions there, i think i wouldnt mind seeing old spots from citadel. Also colony on Feros old maps if it needs, just to make DLC bigger, that would have inpact on people that we got whole new game, with possibly new doors and locations inside old maps. That would be awesome. I know people would argue if this was included in first release of the game, how developers didnt do anything new.It will bring back that epic feelling.
Also there should be more locations like Citadel,Omega and Ilium. But slightly bigger. Make some mission like those of keepers in me1. This will surely make people play the game many times. I finished mass effect 2 - 2 times, and i am already bored very much. me1 ruined some of my exams, i had to done all the things. It was like a drug. This time ive done almost everything in my first playthrough.
9. More dialogs, especially for LI. Why wasnt Samara love interest she was very interesting. I wasnt Tali fan until i played this game. I must say she is the best written LI, she trembles when she is speaking, she cares, she is real. Samara was the second best choice. Rest of them were just to see how is theirs ending.
10.Helmet toggle.
11.Crouch when i want.
12.Expand fllotilla. Make more missions in there. People like that place.
13.It was fun to sweat to have some great armour and guns in me1. Make atleast more upgrades.
14. Fuel system annoying.
15. in the end game it would be cool that you can go back to normandy talk to everyone about our succes of the mission and when you click on the galaxy menu then you choose betwen importing or continue to play.
16. Speed up scanning system add more material (text etc) in there.
17. Make missions that shake balance of force on omega and in galaxy. Liked type off missions when you destroy blue suns etc. People like when their choices matter already in the game.
18.More news on "galactic news"
19.Give atleast five or so mission from Council and Alliance where they find out you are still a good guy not just cerebrus slave or else. It just didnt make any sense, that they sold you out that fast, not having some kind of colaboration with you.
20. More upgrades for ship this time not just from crew members.
21. More dialog with EDI. ( paragon or renegade EDI to reject loyalty to cerebrus.)
Game was awesome but in some way disapointing.I played it as the continuation of the story. But many things i dont like. Anoying things from me1 doesnt seem anoying anymore. Please dont take good stuff from me1, add new good stuff but not throw away good old ideas just improve them. When devs were talking about improving all systems i thought that they will improve existing ones, not change the whole concept. Game was improved in combat sense but downed in rpg sense, that is very bad. I like Bioware, i like their games. They have great potential, but i must have criticism in this so that they can improve game in DLC later on.

SUGGESTIONS FOR MASS EFFECT 3/MASS EFFECT 2 DLC:
Combat:
- Bring back the minimap/radar from ME1; while not having it in ME2 makes you a bit more wary each time you go into a potential combat zone and forces you to pay attention to what's around you, it feels like the ME universe took a step backwards in technology, and that seems silly. Besides, it's not like ME1 wasn't able to provide that same (or better) feeling by just having certain mobs stay hidden from radar until you were literally on top of them or by jamming your radar. It's not a huge thing, but like I said it feels a bit silly to have something so basic in ME1 suddenly be unavailable in ME2 when everything is supposed to be more advanced technologically in the game world.
- I didn't really mind BW scrapping pretty much the entire inventory system from ME1, but I think in some ways the system in ME2 is a bit too bare-bones. I like the route that was taken in ME2 with only a few select guns that were for all intents and purposes of equal power but just fired differently, but I think it would be potentially fun to bring back some customization options from ME1. For instance, consider bringing back the ability to put attachments onto the gun that can be swapped out. Allow the player to purchase or research/develop weapon attachments likes scopes, larger ammo clips, etc., that they can mix and match onto their weapon(s) of choice before each mission to allow for another level of customization and optimization. Also, weapons stats would be nice to see, if possible.
- I haven't played as one yet, but there appears to be a lot of concern about Adepts being unfairly limited in usefulness of their powers in higher difficulties in comparison to other classes. I don't really have suggestions on what to do here other than it would be nice to hopefully find a good balance between the classes. Best of luck. Maybe take away the inability of Adepts to effectively use powers on armored targets and instead just shorten the duration of those powers on said armored targets to half or one-third of their usual duration.
- Consider getting rid of the global cooldown. I understand you want to make people make decisions on what power will be best for a given situation, but that really isn't too different from what we had in ME1, I feel. The longer cooldowns in ME1 meant that, if you wanted, you definitely could go into a room with guns blazing and unload everything you had in a torrent of mayhem.... but then if you screwed up you potentially payed the price because you didn't leave many options for yourself when the **** hit the fan. Obviously opinions will vary from one player to another, but I personally prefer the longer cooldowns of ME1 than the global cooldown of ME2. I felt it provided more options for the player in combat situations.
Planet Hopping/Investigation:
- As many people before me have said, what's the point of having a top-of-the-line ship and hotshot pilot if I'm the one that has to do all the flying? And why the dependance on fuel when the lore of the ME universe suggests that fuel is no longer a consideration but rather having to perform "heat dumps" from time to time? ME1's format seemed closer to the ideal for this universe than ME2's. Also, on the PC, being able to right-click in order to zoom out on the galaxy map was nice to be able to do and is missed (at least by me).
- Mineral scanning... it can be a drag. Many people have said it, but it can be tweaked for improvement in some cases. For instance, provide a way for people to sell excess ore that they don't need such as on a planet like Illium which has a trading area for commodities and the like. Also, let that same place where you can sell ore also provide the option to purchase different ore that you might need more of in order to perform desired research projects. At least this way it feels like you didn't just waste 30-45 minutes scanning a planet in order to pick up a crap ton of useless palladium and not much else.
- More side-quests, in general. I know they take a lot of time and development, but some of them are really fun.
- The Mako and other land vehicles. Some people liked them, some people didn't. I think this is one of those places where BW needs to aim for a middle-ground. Now, I know we're still waiting to see this Hammerhead DLC that will be coming out in the future, but until we know more about it here is my thought on this subject. Bring back the use of vehicles like the Mako, but only on a per mission basis. Create missions where it's required to have a vehicle in order to go over some sort of rough terrain or to reach an objective or to combat some enemy that would just be insanely hard without some sort of Mako/tank vehicle. This would allow for variety in the missions and gameplay and potentially some very intense fights if scripted well enough.
General Gameplay/Character Customization and Interaction:
- Helmet toggle. Helmet toggle, helmet toggle, helmet toggle. Please bring it back. Nothing is as disappointing as feeling like a set of gear is useless because your character can't seem to remove his helmet to look someone in the face. It's bad enough we've yet to see Tali's face. If nothing else, please consider using DA:O's system of removing helmets during conversations. Or, a thought I'd had, was that if it's possible in the ME universe to create collapsible guns then why not a collapsible helmet ala Stargate? Now THAT would be friggin sweet to see.
- On the PC, please allow for double-clicking to open menus instead of the current "click on Menu then click on Select button" setup. Also, having 3 actions all bound to the Spacebar is a bit much. It's not hugely problematic, but it does feel a bit clunky at times. Third, allow for weapon selection through the Function keys like in ME1, and allow for the binding of the Codex, Journal, and Character screens through individual hotkeys like in ME1.
- Allow armor useage/customization for squad mates. I love using Jack, but it's hard to believe that once her shields are down her tattoos are as thick as Shepard's armor plating.
- One of my favorite things in DA:O that I think ME should adopt is the random interactions/conversations that squadmates have with each other at the most random of moments. It just helps to bring you deeper into the world around you and feel more invested in the characters travelling with you. That and it's a great place for some tongue-in-cheek humor. ME1 had this to a degree with the elevator rides, but having it also happen while walking around a city or during a mission could be fun, too.
- More romance options in general. As I read somewhere else, it feels kind of hoaky that the only time Shepard gets laid is right before a mission where "we might not make it back". It makes it feel like the guy/gal would never have a chance of getting any if it weren't for the fact that his/her life is always on the line. It's a minor gripe, to be sure, but I think some people would appreciate it, and it has the potential to add interesting conflicts between the player and their love interests if they become too greedy.
That's about all I can think of right now, but I hope that you folks at Bioware look these over and maybe consider some of them. I truly love both ME 1 and 2, and knowing that ME3 is potentially another 2-3 years away from coming out sucks, but I have faith that Bioware will make it worth every second of the wait. Thank you for these great games, and here's looking forward to an amazing conclusion to this franchise!

There is a radar in ME2, but you can only see it with the Hud up (Spacebar pressed/game paused)
Yeah, or if you press the "M" button, but it doesn't play the same role as the radar in ME1 did, and it just doesn't feel like it really does anything beneficial for you. As far as I feel, it might as well not exist in ME2 for all its usefulness or lack thereof. I just prefer the one from ME1 because it was static and actually provided tactical information to you during battles.

Short side missions that are unique to each other. This keeps interesting and does not detract too much time away from the main plot.
Squad mates give appropriate and varied combat feedback during combat.
Strong sense of atmosphere throughout
Squad mates having their unique armors that cannot be changed. I know some would not agree with me on this. I find that having unique armors for each squad brings out their personalities, i.e. I can never picture Miranda in a N7 suit, Jack wearing a Merc outfit, or Thane wearing full-armor.
Ammo-based guns. The fact that there are limited ammo encourages the player to explore, manage and conserve during combat, and also use a variety of weapons at their disposal. Others might disagree though.
Separating upgrades and research, weapon loadouts, armor loadouts, and ammo mods into appropriate contexts. This a very, very good change.
