Agree on being able to customize different keys for cover, sprint, use etc.

My 2 cents:
- Improve the PC UI. Clicking on an item and then moving the mouse below to "select" definitely shows that the UI was not designed for the PC. This appears in a lot of menus and the squad member selection. Clunky menus don't show much effort put on the PC UI.
- Hotkeys for Codex, Journal and Squadmate.
- Separate the all in one key for Sprint, Cover and Jump
- Ability to remove helmets for DLC armours. I can accept the lack of customisation for the different parts but helmets should be removable like in DA:O.

Definitely a thread worth keeping.<3
1) Toggle helmet - *signed*
As we have a much better engine in ME2 it would be great if through a simple animation, like when we change weapons and it's packs/unpacks, would be nice for the helmets. This would also solve the question, where is my helmet when I speak kind of questions.
2) Resource collection Planetary Exploration
I would really love to see same kind of pointers implemented, like we have today for the Anomalies, with differently colored pointers by resource type would help a lot.
If you are missing only one type of resource for an upgrade and start scanning a rich-reasource planet you would be able to focus on that resource, like we do for the Anomalies.
3) Autopilot & Fuel - *signed*
Traveling between already known systems would be made much more 'realistic'. As a player I'm the captain not the pilot. I give the course and Joker fulfills my commands as best as possible. Also, by selecting a destination fuel cost should be shown, before starting the travel. According to my experience each inch fuel cost is different based on the Nebula's type/color.
4) Exploration - Nebula level
There are only fixed amount of systems in each Nebula, which is explorable and new systems open based on missions only if we get the clue to go there.
I assume it would be quite simple (DLC) to add new systems, which could be only show and entered from the Nebula navigation screen when we get close.
Either through navigating there manually or using some kind of Deep-space probes, we would be able to find new systems to explore (new N7 missions), without the direct message: 'Go there and explore'.
5) Armor customization for companions.
Please allow us to repair Garrius' armor.
6) Much much more armor parts and armor designs.
All of the Mercenary groups can have their own armor sets, like N7 is an armor set only.
Eclipse would offer specialist type of upgrades - (biotics, techs) power upgrade, drone upgrade, recharge time, shield
etc, etc.
Geth armor, anyone?
7) Armor code, like we have for the Shepard's face design.
8) Making sure no one misses special weapon pickups in companion missions.
I know it is possible, I have done it already.
If it's missed and the mission is finished, offer the new weapon at a specific weapon seller.
I love this thread!

I approve the attitude and the tone of this thread, and i agree to the op suggestions.
EDIT:
I know its not very likely to happened, but i will be very happy to see an optional fix to replace the heavy
nerf on biotics with a more reasonable one, like limited effects to CC abilities against armored & shielded targets,
instead no effect at all.
Thanks.

Not getting the game until tomorrow, but would dearly love to see the helmet toggle implemented if possible, please! Let's be honest, although Bioware may have underestimated how much us fans appreciated the helmet toggle, which other company would then listen to the feedback and almost immediately try to find a solution to appease it's fans? I know there's no guarantee it can be fixed, but the promise that it'll be looked into is more than you'd get from nearly any other company!

I also think that you bioware devs should take a look at the control/UI thread on the steam forums, people are getting some good ideas (and some really obvious ones, that escaped the original development team somehow) on improving the PC version: http://forums.steamp...d.php?t=1124112
to sum it up, people are mostly requesting:
- Add different button bindings for sprint/cover and use
- Add buttons to switch weapons (ie: 1,2,3,4...)
- Add a button to see objectives / minimap toggle instead of hold
- Allow double click in the menus instead of click>select

I agree completely about helmet toggle - at the very least make it possible to remove the helmet from the dl armors like Blood Dragon Armor.

Id like to see enemies smarter, less damaging but with more health. Right you dont ever have to leave cover, I just let even the toughest enemies come to me and shoot them from behind a wall. Never do the enemeis try to outflank you or use any kind of special skills that can help them somewhat.
The only way to die even on insanity is to accidentely hop out of cover and catch a rocket tot he head.

I've got some suggestions for the PC version:
* Please make the walk key a TOGGLE. I tend to walk when I'm not in a combat situation and holding down the key gets irritating at least to painful at most.
* Please change the way we control the Normandy on the galaxy map from the current click and hold to just click. We click once where we want to go and it goes there. We scroll the map by moving the cursor to the edge of the map. The mouse is not a pseudo-joystick.
* Another vote for a helmet toggle key.
* Streamline the UI. On the load out menu for example: click on their name and their weapons expand underneath, like expanding a directory tree. Click their name again and their weapons collapse. Apply this to every menu that requires us to click a selection and then move down and click Accept or whatever. Basically, get rid of the extra click required to Accept and just go where we click.

I just love how people that have never seen the code imply that they know how easy or hard something is to "patch". I'm not saying these things would be difficult to change, but neither you nor I have ANY idea, so why make a stupid comment like this?ManBearPig91 wrote...

all are easily patched. very reasonable suggestions
My only major complaint is some of the aspects of the cover system and I don't think there is an easy fix for them:
- Unable to vault over objects without first entering cover. While this is fine for normal areas, obvious places where low walls completely block your progress and you MUST move forward (and usually return that way) to reach a specific objective simply makes the mechanic cumbersome and time wasting....I know it's not a game breaking issue, but it's quite annoying.
- It's nearly impossible to storm around or past nearby objects (as you enter cover on them when you run past). While this is mostly frustrating, I have had it end up with me taking major damage and even dying due to grabbing cover in front of or next to an enemy that I was actively attempting to avoid / take cover from. While the same button to storm / enter cover works well for advaincing forward on a battle field, it is less than useful when trying to perform some manouvering while being attacked from mutliple angles or crossing an area with lots of cover objects. I understand they tried to simplify it, but it can be very frustrating in the heat of a battle to NOT be able to get your character to perform the actions you want.

Love this game. I actually like the planet-scanning.
However, I'm one of those 360 users (you know, the ones that the game was "dumbed down" for ;D ) and am having a hell of a time reading the tiny tiny print in the text boxes for squad upgrades, codex entries, etc. My TV is in perfect working order and I'm not about to go blow $500+ on a bigger display just so I don't hurt my eyes squinting at the text.
The capability to change the text size up would be brilliant.

1. Helmet toggle or auto-off during conversations.
The ME1 system seemed to be perfect. The freedom to toggle on/off the helmet whenever you weren't in a hazardous environment was great. We all spend a lot of time customizing our face. Whether in ME1 or ME2. It just doesn't make sense from a customization and immersion standpoint to cover the face during conversations UNLESS the conversation takes place in the midst of battle or in a hazardous environment. I think the blinking lights on the Terminus armor is great design decision for conversations during battle or other situations where it would make sense to converse with your helmet on, but it doesn't replace facial expressions.
If it would be easier to implement, I also suggest the DA:O system. Make it so helmets auto-off during conversations that are not in the midst of battle or a hazardous environment. Auto-off in situations that make sense, like on the Normandy or in the bar. If you go with the auto-off system maybe an option in the settings would be possible for the people who actually like having the helmet on ALL the time. I understand the point a BW employee made in another topic about the Collector armor being one piece and it wouldn't make sense from an artistic standpoint to remove the helmet, but that same point doesn't hold true for the Blood Dragon, Terminus, Inferno, or any other human armor design. I agree that the Blood Dragon, Terminus, and Inferno armor are set pieces and shouldn't be customizable like the N7 armor, but the helmet has to be able to come off. I don't want to have to choose between stat bonuses from helmets or total immersion. I also don't appreciate having to choose between using DLC armor I spent money to have or total immersion. What is the point of offering pre-order, CE, and cross-game armor if I am forced to sacrifice total immersion to use said armor? Isn't total immersion one of Mass Effects biggest selling points? Yes, it is. I've read several interviews with lead BW devs where they specifically mention total immersion as on of ME2's greatest features. Wasn't the DLC armor sets one of ME2's main ad campaigns before launch? Yes, it was. I have two ads downloaded on my Xbox 360 from the Marketplace that specifically mention the Blood Dragon armor. Also, I've seen many ads that advertise the Terminus armor. Both Gamestop ads and EA/Bioware ads.
2. Galaxy Travel and Planet Scanning
I haven't actually gotten past the first conversation with the Illusive Man, so I can not comment directly on whether or not I like the travel/scanning system. However, from what I've read I like the idea of the option to plot a course and spend a pre-determined amount of fuel as opposed to piloting the ship with my thumb. I think there should be an option to do either. Some people like piloting, others do not. Personally I feel it is a valid argument that Joker is the pilot, Shepard just tells him where to go. And if it's a question of finding new locations during travel, perhaps a pop-up would work. For instance, I've told Joker to plot a course from point A to point B. I'm traveling from point A to point B when suddenly we come across an uncharted planet, asteroid, or derelict vessel. Travel stops and a pop-up message appears giving me the option to continue to point B or plot a new course to point C. The pop up displays how much remaining fuel I have, how much it will consume to point B, and how much it will consume to point C. If ship travel was done in first person, a la Freelancer, I wouldn't mind piloting the ship myself. In fact, I would love it! Freelancer is my most loved game, I've beaten it a dozen times even though there is no morality system like BW games. Free travel was one of the best things about that game. But I digress.
I've also read on another post that a toggle for planet scanning should be implemented. Instead of holding down LT to scan, you toggle scan on/off with LT. The person's complaint was that they have carpel tunnel and it becomes painful to hold down LT for 10-15 minutes while scanning. I completely agree this should be an option. I have pretty severe carpel tunnel and frequently have to sleep with a specially designed brace on my hand because of it.
3. Companion Armor and Casual Outfits
I definitely agree that we should be able to change the armor of our Companions. Perhaps full customization is a bit much, but we should at least be able to make them wear the N7, Blood Dragon, Terminus, Inferno, or any other armor. Also, there needs to be many more options for casual outfits, both for my companions and Shepard. Shepard starts with four casual outfits, but for some reason my companions only get a second option AFTER I've completed their loyalty quests? This just doesn't make sense.
4. Mini-Map
Please bring back the mini-map. I sorely miss being able to know there are enemies nearby BEFORE they start shooting at me. Traditional turn-based RPGs have mostly done away with random battles and allow you to see the enemies on screen before battle begins; giving you an option to avoid them if you wish. Not having a min-map to warn me of nearby enemies is much them same as random battles from years past. Even DA:O had a mini-map that showed enemy locations. At least ME is a future, sci-fi epic where the technology is plausible to have some kind of an enemy presence detection system. DA:O is a fantasy RPG where the technology certainly doesn't exist.

I approve of the suggestions.
Any headgear that covers the eyes have to be off during conversations (like in DA) or atleast toggleable like in ME1 without losing the bonus.
There can not be any "good" reason for this missing from the game. It leads to bugs, huge immersion breakers and renders the one biggest feature of the Mass Effect series useless: highly detailed faces with life like animations. It also defeats the purpose of customizing your characters face. In a dialogue driven game this simply can not be.
Its like having a car made of solid gold and then painting over it with dark red. Sure the color might look good but it hides the true quality and value, and makes it just like any other car.
Furthermore, DLC armor without the option to turn of the helmet makes the whole armor useless to many people. So I ask what is more important. Always forcing the full set on the players and thus making many people not use it at all, making the design work on it useless, or having the full set in battles and without helmet in situations where it would make not the slightest sense and thus having more people actually use the armor and admire it alltogether.
And befor someone tells me, just dont use it (DLC armor, headgear)...Missing out on content which you paid money for, because it breaks the whole experience is not very satisfying. Also if you can get a bonus but have to live with a faceless, emotionless shepard (missing out on content again) plus the bugs, you are not given a choice that is fun, just frustrating.
The whole point of the new armor system was having the ability to make your armor perform and look like you want. But with the forced headgear/helmet its like one step forward, two steps backwards.

About the lack of mini-map, as long as you remember that large open areas are bad and that whenever there is cover available you are more than likely going to need it, you shouldn't ever be surprised

I would likely to humbly suggest an alternative to the large tutorial like pop ups informing me of credits earned, codex entries, etc.
Maybe they go away on their own soon? From what I hear it doesnt sound like it but maybe Im mistaken.
I find them to be distracting and unnecessary. I presumed they were for the purpose of tutorial and went into options looking to turn it off. Something similar to ME1's symbol next to number style would be great. Maybe you get used to it as it seems to be a rarely voiced concern.
Is it in agreement that no one likes the "mission complete" screens? I don't gather anything enjoyable or useful and find them super immersion breakers and make the game seem leveled based effectively shrinking the universe.
With all this said I am still excited to get home tonight and play.
