Great thread. I've been enjoying the hell out of ME2 but there are a number of things that stuck out for me very quickly:

1) More customization. 4 casual outfits is not nearly enough (10-15 would have been more like it) and the amount of armor pieces still feels light. This could have been an easy win.

2) Larger hubs. Create living cities that we want to continually come back to, with tons of quests and places to go.

3) More planet missions. The new custom planetside missions are great, but I miss being able to land on a planet in every system and tool around.

4) More things to buy. Say what you will, loot and possessions are an integral part of any RPG. I exhausted all of the stores pretty quickly and it makes me cry a little.

5) Inter-party dialog. For that matter, more squad member dialog in general. It felt like they said very little during conversations with NPCs.

A complaint I've had in Mass Effect 2 is how amazing the romances were made in comparison to the first one, I hope in ME3 if the ME1 romances are brought back (as full fledged characters instead of a short cameo) that the romance feature improves.

I'd like to add:

Being able to continue playing when the game ends is fantastic and I thank BioWare for making this decision. But it feels a bit hollow if there are no random encounters or regenerating quests. To use Fallout 3 as an example, even after completing every last quest you could wander around, fight things, and take in the scenery.

Despite being really pretty happy with the game I have one request. Can you make an option to put a color behind the subtitles? I can't play with the volume turned up due to the fact that we're trying to keep the little one sleeping :) and I reading the text on 50" hdtv from 14 feet is killing me.

The text is a nice and bright but so are most of the shiny new textures that just happen to be around when people are talking.

Thanks for the consideration in advance.

I agree with the suggestions, has anyone noticed that the pop up messages in the bottom right of the screen sometimes go off too fast before you even get chance to read them. I'd like a pach that slows it down a little so when I pick something up i can actually get to read what it says about the pick up.

I think these 2 would resolve a lot of the problems I've been reading on the forum

1. Upgrades that allow biotics and techs powers to bypass shields and armor.
2. Allow the main weapon for each class to hold more clips.

With 2 i fully agree, with 1 - fully disagree. Someone already changed biotics that way (by changing some .ini file) and as predicted, it was total overpower. The game was no longer hard to beat at all. As for techs powers, they are there for the purpose of bringing down those defenses, except for freeze, which is for crowd control.

yeah but if it's an upgrade it would be optional. It's a single player game so it doesn't matter if it's overpowered.  They could even make the cool downs longer to balance it out a little.

All of these would be great additions to the game, though 10-15 casuals outfits may be a touch much.

I agree with the OP.

I haven't beaten the game yet.... but If I choose to continue playing, I'd still like some enemies to shoot at and a few random encounters/missions to do. :)

Too much changed from the first game. Didn't feel right. It was like a shadow of it's former self.

Like Baldur's Gate to Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance but in that case I knew it was different. Here the expectations were just better than the first and I feel let down.

Make the game feel big again. Felt on rails battles smaller, levels smaller, just felt like a tiny universe compared to the first.

Bring back more equipment. I get that it was too custom before but this is like withdrawal.

Bring back more skills/powers. Felt weaker.

Get rid of the ammo/cooling clips. I get it helped you make the battles smaller but my favorite moments were the running and gunning on Virmire, Tower Assault, with enemies everywhere.

Bring back the inter party dialog, and exploration component.

Didn't feel like an RPG. It was less of an RPG than Force Unleashed, fewer powers too.

Now for things I liked

The mineral mechanic was better than the first.

Ship was bigger, but needed larger quarters, didn't believe the crew could live on the ship.

Character quests were really good in comparison, but dialog moments felt fewer than the first.

Armor options worked better, but too few options

I like the way the guns work just fine. When you find a new gun, it works differently compared to your previous gun, so it really feels like a new gun.

Finding armor pieces doesn't feel the same. It would be nice if there were, say, three armors available with light, medium, and heavy looks and bonuses so that when you found whatever one applied to your class, you could at least be excited about it.

*Signed*

-More armor bits.

-Helmet Toggle.

-New Patterns.

-(This is a long shot, but maybe for ME3) More class recognition, perhaps class specific solutions to the same problem, not to additional bonus content, but in example.. Like there's a part where you shut off monitors with the omni-tool, that could be infiltrator/sentinel/engineer. Soldiers might shoot it, where as biotics might biotically black the screens out. More mention of your class skills please..!

-(Also long shot, but perhaps for ME3 if they keep the research/upgrade weapons thing they got going now.) Make different upgrades for different playstyles.. Like you can't completely max your SMG out, maybe you wanna have most emphasis on accuracy, or fire rate, or damage, or stability. Maybe max two of the four elements of your weapon out and you can mix/match/asemble your weapons differently to really fit your play type. Same thing for armor, tech, and biotic abilities please!

-Alternate solution to the faster resource wheel, maybe have a red arrow, like the white arrow for anomolies, pointing to the nearest element spike if you've upgraded your resource finder.

-I'd also one day like to see early skill evolutions instead of late ones, like area/strong at the beginning, so the two evolutions are more vastly different than they are similar. Perhaps in ME3

-More passive skilltrees like the class specific. +Damage, +Run speed, +Armor %, +Universal Cooldown. You can have % trees without it affecting accuracy. Maybe 5% a level.

-Different Femshep rigging than Maleshep, this covers walk, posture, idle gestures, dance, more differing dialogue.

-Additional Worlds/N7 Missions.

-Some other N7 reward other than experience or resources, both of which get maxed out early on in NG+

-Additional ME1 character rollover.

-Correct ME1 Character responses, such at the scientists the news say got killed even if you saved them all, as well as some other spoiler like characters that roll over the wrong way.

-Please, please, please, please... More inbetween character interractions. I was hoping for idle chatter between party members like in DAO, or atleast as much as ME1, and there was less...! There's a couple on Normandy encounters, but far too few for a game of this level of amazing.

-Continue being Amazing. I love you all.

-P.S. Biotics could maybe work on armored targets in the future, but still be stopped by barriers and shields? It might aid against the griefing. (This is of course, very optional, as are all my requests, but this one more-so than the others.)

Edit: Wanted to add, I saw a few hairstyles in game unavalible to Shepard, like Kelly's or that the girl in the diary (To avoid spoilers.) New hairstyles and perhaps a place on Omega or something to get styled up would be neat, atleast change hairstyles yanno? It's also never too late to include new noses/mouthes/eyes/eyebrows in the third!!!

Return the helmet toggle feature. This is really important, we need a patch now to fix this, I bought the DD edition to use the armors and right now I am not using them. WE NEED A PATCH !!!!!

Also I kind of like the old inventory...

Anyways, great game so far.

Some more small stuff:

* I'd like to be able to select a track to play over our cabin radio from a list instead of spacebar spacebar spacebar. More tracks would be sweet too. Maybe being able to buy more from various shops/clubs?

* Another vote for the ability to unequip weapons we don't use. I don't use the pistol or the shotgun so I'd really, really like to leave them at home. I like the look of my armor with my rifles on my back... but then I've got these misfit weapons messing up my style.

* The weapons don't even fit across our backs. The sniper/heavy/assault rifle models are all clipping into each other something fierce. It looks pretty bad to be honest. I can't even see my sniper rifle because it's been absorbed into the heavy model. Maybe ME3 will handle this better eh? Selectable hardpoints maybe? Sniper on the left leg, assault on the right, heavy on my back.

Dear Bioware,

I understand that your considerations for game development revolve around the actual business of making games, i.e., you want your game to appeal to the broadest market available. Mission accomplished. Mass Effect 2 has clearly 'wowed' and amazed alot of us, and Bioware/EA are going to reap a windfall on it.

However, I would ask that for just a moment you consider that in so doing, you have removed alot of the magic of the first game. I speak of course only for myself, and would like to humbly voice my opinion in the hopes that you would take into consideration the following when making Mass Effect 3:

1. Please bring back some form of planet exploration. Driving over scenic vistas on alien worlds with gorgeous skies was half of the magic of the original game for me. I'll never forget when I looked up from luna and saw the earth looming above the horizon.

2. Please create more options to customize the appearance/loadout of your party, choices in the story, importance of the sidequests, etc. etc. Pretty self-explanatory, I feel like there is a severe lack in the depth of customization here, and without serious customization, it feels like just another shooter (to me). All through Mass Effect 2, I was very aware that I was playing a 'game'. Painfully so. The illusion of taking part in a galactic epic quest was just gone.

That's it!! You've made a lovely game, really! And you deserve the immense amounts of money you are going to recieve. I am only asking, because the inclusion of these are the things that made your original game one of my favorites of all time, and I am really disappointed they were left out.

So, if you could, please reconsider including them for the third game in this series.

Thank you, and keep up the great work.

To the rest of the forum: I am well aware that I am a vocal minority. I am well aware that a great deal of you are just happy with the game as-is. That's great!! I honestly think Bioware deserves more recognition for the first game, if nothing else, so better late than never. However, I think we can rationally and reasonably agree to disagree and be respectful to one another in doing so.

- More Tali
- More equipment options
- When importing a character allow people to customize their previous face to make light touches with the new graphic changes.
- More class specific things. The individual skills were great but I think expanding on that would lead to a lot of re-playability and class uniqueness.
- More party banter while on planets.
- Crouching while not against cover
- Bigger side-quests
- More stuff related to damaging specific areas on enemies. Stuff like shooting a robots leg and having him still trying to get at me was a very nice touch.
- More Tali
I'm sure there is more stuff I'd like to see but for the most part the game is perfect aside from that. I like all the other changes and they make the game feel more paced.

I agree with the OP. Also, I think it would be nice if they could add more customization, weapons and armour, possibly vehicles and some more advanced and more common ship-to-ship combat. Well, I'm not asking for a flight simulator, athough it would be really nice, but still they could do something.

Also, ME2 still is a fantastic game and one of the best games I have ever played. There is a couple of things that could be changed in ME3 though. It is a shame that the story and the ME universe is probably going to end after ME3, unless they make a MMO or something like that. Actually, this would be the first MMO I would enjoy to play. Bioware has already shown that they make great games. Knights of the Old Republic 1&2, the list goes on. Maybe a Mass Effect MMO, something like EVE online, with your own starship etc is possible. But who knows.

i agree with a lot of the above, but what i personally would like most would be some way to select your actions from mass effect 1 on a new character. it could even be done through conversation when miranda quizes you in the shuttle (although that might not be worth the effort now, suggest for ME3 though).

i'm playing through once with the preset version of events, and like to think that a virus killed off the old council, like it did my origional save game. however after this, as i now know that its pretty much the opposite of everything i would choose, i'll play through a ME1 character to unlock my version of events.

its not so much of a complaint as an irritation. (i'll complain about useless anti-virus software making me have to wipe my hard drive though)

After putting in a lot more time into ME2 I'd like to retract my opinion that the pop ups upon getting credits, upgrades, etc. need removing. it was a dramatic change from ME1 but you get used to it and I don't mind them at all now. Even the end of mission debreifings arent all that bad. Gives you the impression the Illusive man is always watching.

Some people are requesting more items. I have to disagree and say Im so thankful i dont have to pick up loads of junk at every container. Maybe more in store items but the removing of them from missions was amazing.

The only suggestion that feels really solid is the helmet removal. I cant use either of my special armors and many of my purchased helmets as I dont want to miss facial animations.

Oh and right about now I really wish I could go ask joker for relationship advice haha. In real life you go talk to your buddy, I can't decide on pursuing a ME2 romance or trying to hold onto an old one. Let me talk to people about this! I doubt thats something you can add in to ME2 but it could be placed in ME3.
