[Bioware] Abilities from SP unseen in MP. Any explanations?

Are there any reasons why the following couldn't be/wasn't done?

 

- Add Revival to Keeper,

  • but make it impossible to spec for any CC ability (SC/DF) if specced with Revival by extending the right tree
  • reduce upgrade duration to 3s
  • nerf damage on undead/affected enemies

- Add Wall of Ice to Necro (implement no-clip for party members, increase the cooldown?)

- Add Resurgence to ...? (nerf healing to 2%/s for 10s)

- Add Thousand Cuts to a DPS-oriented rogue character? (12 hits for 150% / hit)

- Add Cloak of Shadows to Hunter (yes, seriously, would be awesome!)

- Add Rally to ...?

 

I'm aware that Hail of Arrows is very buggy, and will assume for now that Flask of Lightning/Haste can't function correctly in a MP environment

I believe I've seen before that Wall of Ice was deliberately excluded from MP because of the griefing opportunities it offered (think isolating a party member outside a chokepoint room and such).

I would need only one game with you to show you why exactly it would have been a terrible idea to add Wall of Ice.

I believe I've seen before that Wall of Ice was deliberately excluded from MP because of the griefing opportunities it offered (think isolating a party member outside a chokepoint room and such).

I would need only one game with you to show you why exactly it would have been a terrible idea to add Wall of Ice.

 

 

Line in the sand allows party members to walk through champions. Can't they implement noclip on WoI?

 

I'm not saying the necro is bad at all. It would just offer more possibilities to spec for

They would have to overhaul the ability I guess. And then the question would be, can you hit through the wall? Can you shoot projectiles through it?

 

And even then I'd still find ways to annoy you with it.

I believe LitS doesn't allow you to shoot projectiles through the champions, but obvs. it's a totally different ability (champion removed from game when player gets near one).

 

In this case you're absolutely right.

The haste ones (Lightning Flask and haste) were tech decisions - the way it works is it slows down 'time' for specific players or environment levels and then when it ends it slightly speeds it back up over the next second or so to compensate until you're synched back up. As you can imagine 4 players simultaneously altering their time poses some problems.

 

Ice Wall was simply due to people purposely blocking teammates in doorways, corners, anywhere really. Line in the sand is a visual effect that adds path blocking whereas icewall actually spawns physical objects (that's why you can hack away at them).

 

The focus abilities were added really late and had to be altered from their SP forms, some of which (fire storm for example) were rather drastic so it was decided to use less of them - plus they have no upgrades which always irked me.

 

And revive/heal were counter to what the aim was at the beginning of multiplayer. This was somewhat circumvented due to the prevalence of HoK equipment but that's another story :)

 

I'd like to put Rally or Cloak of Shadows on something in the future but we'll see how that goes... :bandit:

Honestly, they should just make Wall of Ice similar to Wall of Flames. Casting it initially will cause ice formation to sprout up quickly, freezing any enemy caught inside, the formations break apart, and all that's left is permafrost on the ground that lasts for a certain duration and chills enemies that walk through it.

 

Rally could be a nice addition to the next DLC warrior if their archetype allows for it. With respect to Haste, would it have not been possible to simply have all enemies within a certain radius be slowed for a significant amount (~50%) for a set duration? I know technically you're slowing enemies, but to them...you get where I'm going with this.  <_<

With respect to Haste, would it have not been possible to simply have all enemies within a certain radius be slowed for a significant amount (~50%) for a set duration? I know technically you're slowing enemies, but to them...you get where I'm going with this.  <_<

I understand the potential for trolling with Wall of Ice, but it would be so useful in the multiplayer I would say it would be worth it. It would be incredibly useful in the right hands.

With haste couldn't you just, I don't know, move faster? I mean ZITHER! can do it so why not just make the character able to move even a bit faster still?

Just to throw my hat into the ring; I've always thought Thousand Cuts should have been on the Assassin's skill tree.

I really like those ideas.

 

Cloak of Shadows on the Hunter (camouflage!) would maybe urge more people to make use of his existing supporter skills in synergy with it.

Thousand Cuts on the Assassin I also like, it is very fitting & would give her... more of an edge.

A bubble-less DF that can cover a huuge area with the CA effect while activated? Would be nice.

BTW Luke, the upgrade of DF in the tooltip supposedly only lasts for 5 seconds, so the fact it lasts for 10s or 13s with the ring is a bug right? DF is so buggy anyway (supposed to weaken, ring upgrades tier 1 ability to tier 2, striking enemies in stasis lock doesn't end the effect, etc. IMO it's a bit OP for now but I wouldn't like to see get nerfed)

Also, as always thank you for the detailed explanation. Cloak of Shadows would be really really cool. I suggested the Hunter because he acts more like a "support" rogue than anything else.

I'd argue that it would be too powerful. A better solution would be a combination of Fast Beats and Battle of the Bands, maybe a bit faster than either. This way the enemies still have their original speed and pose at least a small challenge. ;)

 

It should also stack with Fast Beats and BotB because ... reasons. :bandit:

If it only lasts ~5s then it definitely wouldn't be too powerful. I like your idea of Fast Beats/BotB.

 

Here's an idea (bad idea):

 

Ability (Haste)

 

Tier 1:

 

Speed Reduction: 50%

Radius: 15m

Duration: 5s

Cooldown: 24s

Cost: 65 mana

 

Tier 2:

 

Movement Speed Amount: 20%

Attack Speed Bonus: 20%

The Hunter can have CoS as long as my Archer regains his ability to Hail of Arrows :P

I still have my Cloak of Shadows and Rally rings. I figure they must be collector items now, and maybe someday they might be worth something... Right?

I always thought that Rally would fit the Templar, seeing as she has other support skills such as Horn of Valor, Bodygaurd, and Line in the Sand.
