I prefer LI'S be companions. I love dragging my LI out and adventures, discovering new things, and doing battle together. I like that. In DAI, the Cullen romance was very well done, but I still prefer companion LI's.

I also prefer player sexual LI's just so I have as many choices as possible in one game.

In ME3, one of my PT's, my straight FemShep was finally okay with being "Forever Alone". She was single in the end. Then...I play Citadel, and they throw me into bed with friggin' Javik. I could not believe that shite. It was not funny. Not even a little bit. It was actually pretty gross and creepy. Not from it being Javik--well, not completely, but rather that whoever wrote that stuff and thought it would be okay creeped me out.

Never again, BW.

The ME team likes to throw alot females and a few aliens at my FemShep. I'm not into either. I like human men. I don't expect BW to cater to that, but guddam. If I kill off Kaidan because I'd like to see Ash around sometimes,  and romance Jacob in ME2, then come ME3 I'm screwed--and not in a good way.

But okay I thinks to meself. My Shep can be single this time. Then they hoar me out to Javik because hurrdurr.

You can still date rape Vega in Citadel, so you don't sleep with Javik.

If you throw the not wild party, you can avoid the one night stand with Javik. That only happens if you choose the wild party options.

I'd rather they dropped alien romances too, but sadly that's not going to happen. And you know we're first in the firing range, since asari are pretty much a given

Give them to me then. Wouldn't mind a M/M turian option. :D

The reason they had so many romances to deal with is because they had so many characters. ME2 had a completely new cast--of which I loved them!- and then just Tali and Garrus from the first game. I think it should have been reversed with the original crew and a few new members.

In ME3 they go back to the original cast and throw out everybody from ME2.

You can always just not recruit Javik until after the party. Or simply not invite him.

lol! But truthfully, I would not want them to drop the alien romances just because I know so many are into them.  And so, you know, okay. That's cool. Just give me some candy, too.

Ugh.

Just pointing out how they're trying to make up for Femshep lacks of options by giving them Javik and Vega, and they're both ended up really creepy. There are half ass effort with slapping Jacob and her crying at Thane's funeral. It just seems very weird how they handle femShep, maleShep doesn't get surprise drunk sex, doesn't force anyone to get drunk to have sex with them, and all the ME2 romance have 2 scenes and end up happily ever after.

ME has always been very biased in favor of my demographic. Worst for me, but I'm not selfish enough that I do not want a more even approach.

Oh, I agree that it was a despicable decision on their part. I'm just trying to offer ways for you to avoid having it happen.

Well, it's over now. I'm looking to the future. And hoping that kind of thing does not happen again. :)

Sad thing is that I don't like involving myself in romantic relationships with human men irl (it requires too much trust). I have chosen an asexual  lifestyle due to how I was raised (abusive father). My idealized version of a perfect guy is an illusion. I come from a country, a father (sicko pervert), and brother-in-laws (one hits my sister and the other one busted my lip when I was 2 years old) that have radical views of a woman's role in life and in that country we are treated like dogs. I am glad in the West I have opportunities, but even here on the forums and with the original ME writing team there was a lot of disrespect toward women/femShep/the customer/player base... is/was mistreated. So if I have a fantasy about a sexy sapient alien that appears to have physically evolved  like a human, but has a different mentality than a human guy I would prefer him. It is just a fantasy. If I ever feel comfortable involving myself irl relationships in the future or as I grow older and get a different perspective (I have a lot of animosity) maybe i'll go for the human guy.

I hear you, Bootz.

edit: maybe I just have not met the right alien guy for me. I wouldn't mind a male Quarian, maybe...

I could honestly say that this is the biggest problem with the DLC. I guess whoever thought up that little tidbit thought people would find it funny.

I just find it convenient that it can only happen with femShep, probably afraid of the backlash. They are insensible to include it but sensible enough to only make it available to only femShep fearing of the backlash, so in a way, they kinda know it was wrong to include them.

no forced romances like damn Liara & Ashley in ME1, no Bioware playing favorites.

just for starters.

In what way did Ashley differ from Kaidan in ME1? They seem to function the exact same way; the only difference is that the characters swap places in certain scenes depending on the gender you picked for Shepard, like the beacon scene, waking up in the med bay, and where they stand in the crew deck. But after that, you can pretty much avoid her the entire game and she'll just stand around in the cargo bay next to Wrex. I don't see how she's forced.
