same difficulty progress (possible) for everybody?

I've always thought that everybody will arrive at gold/plat but am not sure anymore.
btw, this question is not meant in a condescending way, the purpose of this game is fun

only, I should not do this with a Talon X or BW
edit:
so! now I know what I'm gonna do tonight:
FQE on silver, with 0 fitness and with beginner pistol + scope,
but with power amps and magnifier. of course without incendiary ammo.
that way I will get to REALLY use the turret for the first time.

Depends on what your personal preference is. I myself stayed in Silver way too long. I just always enjoyed it. I know people who forced themselves to play platinum just because they wanted to max their manifest as fast as possible, they didn't enjoy playing that difficulty.

I don't think I have more than 10 hours on bronze/silver combined ![]()

Like any other field of human endeavour, I think some people are indeed inevitably better at this than others. Playing ME3MP is a skill that can be learned, but not everyone will be able to develop the skill to the same extent.
I can contribute to a Gold match if the other players are strong; but really I'm a Silver-level player, and I'm okay with that.
(But if I hadn't joined BSN, I'd still be stuck on Bronze).

Plenty, I imagine. You're assuming everyone cares about playing gold/plat, when lots of people simply don't have the will to improve their game if they are having fun playing it where they are and don't have any more (or have less) fun at said higher difficulties. Lots of people play gold instead of plat for similar reasons, even though many of them can handle the latter without issue.

If you're a gold/plat regular who finds it easy that isn't going to help. FQE is a fairly destructive kit in relative terms on Silver because of the lack of enemy shields, their low health and more emphasis on direct power damage (which she has a lot of), and that's before putting equipment on her. I played some Silver games for the first time in awhile yesterday with her and was surprised at the rate at which things were dying even with common/uncommon weapons and level 1 consumables.
Sentry Turret works fine on gold anyway if you know how to use it. It's only on plat where everything is simply a brute force DPS race that it isn't very effective as anything but a distraction or stagger tool.

I can play Gold relatively well and Platinum with some confidence. I feel more confident with a good team, but I don't think I'm actually that bad myself. I perform much better as host, of course, but can do well even off host, especially with kits I feel confident with. Lately, I've been doing a lot of Gold matches, because I'm kinda hoping to see that maxed manifest someday. Yeah, it's important to me, kinda. And I still hope to be able to do two Gold solos someday, for that coveted Lone Wolf banner. I know I can do it, it's just a matter of time and patience, something I'm criminally short on lately.
That said, I personally like Silver the most, since I feel confident with pretty much every kit, not just the ones I'm really good with. To me, Silver is what Gold is to most other BSNers. Plus the reason Tantum Dic Verbo stated.

ME3MP was my first MP experience with strangers. I didn't even think I'd be a creditable bronze player. I wound up playing Bronze for about 400 hours and thought I'd stay there forever. Until one day the RNG dropped me into a Plat match with no consumables on and I managed to survive until w6 when the team wiped. That event and some friends convinced me I should move up to harder difficulties. Otherwise I'd probably still be playing bronze.

I have over 3,200 hours on the xbox. I am really curious as to how much time I have spent in each difficulty. Most of these hours are so blurred 2gether but I do remember when I made my permanent transition to gold about a year and a half ago. I still play silver to get the weapons & character challenges that I hate out of the way, makes them less painful..looking at you scimitar.... I think it took me about 6 months after 1st playing bronze to start the adjustment to silver ( but remember, back then silver had a pretty high failure rate & it felt like what gold is now) I never got into platinum, it wasn't the difficulty I didn't like...It was the blending of the factions...If you took gold factions and gave them platinum barriers/shields-health , and kept them separate & added alot more of the same units..I think I would have enjoyed that

Basically it just boils down to "different strokes for different folks". Your question is like asking if there is anyone out there who has beaten the original DOOM hundreds of times and still must (or wants to) play on the "I'm too young to die" difficulty.

Yes there are. I've ran into one before.

LOL OP. Why all caps on the words MUST and WANT? Btw, "must" is somewhat condescending as it implies that a player has reached a capability ceiling such that he/she is still uncapable of handling gold difficulty even after 1000 hrs of play. "Want" would be much nicer way of stating your question (no need for all caps).

you use "", I use caps for putting emphasis on words. So what, big deal?
I wanted to emphasise that there might be a difference between both.
And I already understood what "must" would mean before you explained it
and no (!) "must" is not condescending - it would just be the truth for some people.
And in case they have more fun playing silver than I do playing platinum, they did everything right,
and instead of laughing at them, I'd envy them, if anything.
btw, you will never see me laugh at, or kick a player that has like 1/10 of the other's score at the end of a match.
Re your Doom allegory:
In my and other people's posts you may have seen that there might be actual reasons to stay in silver. For example those who play gold instead of platinum. Or, yesterday I played a few matches on silver with low-tier-weapons and gear, but with interesting powers and characters that aren't ridicuosly OP or cheesy - and had a lot of fun.
Edit: Directly afterwards I played a gold match with the Raider GI and it was like playing bronze compared to the matches I had before.
"Difficulty" really is relative.

In any case, I think QMR's post sums it up best:
lots of people simply don't have the will to improve their game if they are having fun playing it where they are
This is true in all aspects of life. Some people just don't enjoy placing themselves outside of their comfort zone, and understandably so, since progression necessitates failure at each step along the way.

... and for opinions like that I started the thread.
besides, I think we have discussed and answered here almost every mechanic and stat of this game.
That's why I start "such" threads sometimes, waiting for Andromeda to be released... ;-)

No. Though when starting a new manifest, I like to play Silver until I get all my kits to level 20. Then there's no more looking back.

I periodically consider going back so I can nuke entire spawns with my nades, but I don't. I've been playing Gold since very early on in my ME3 days, probably too early in some regards, but either way, I shan't go back to Bronze or Silver any time soon methinks.
