How many promotions until I'm useful in Threatening?

So I jumped into threatening just to see how it goes and turned on damage numbers form whole party just to see how things are going and noticed that my critical hits are doing less damage than many people's regular hits.

I'm not dying, I'm just feeling like I'm not pulling my weight.

About how many promotions should I expect to have in each category for each difficulty?

Nothing to do with it

You need better weapons

opinions differ widely about how many promotions you need for perilous

So I'm just stuck until the game gives me better weapons? Every time I see a purple it is one of those level 8-10 items designed to troll us :(

Yep, you're stuck until you get better weapons. We all been there...

Also, as soon as you can craft a new tier of armor for your character, you should do it. It will help tremendously for Routine and Threatening.

Keep opening chests and buying chests. It is RNG so you never know. Also the items get better as you pass thresholds of number of chests brought or opened.

Is this real? Should I just keep getting the cheap box until I hit this threshold?

Considering this is RNG I doubt it.

It's an item threshold, so IMO it does not make sense to purchase the small chests now that the large chest has garanteed rare drops.

That's a lot better than being stuck until your stats increase significantly

Here's a page that tells you what stats do

Collect materials and craft all best in slot armors for every class, get as many equipment as you can from chests, get experience in enemy behaviour and proper positioning to avoid archers/mages from hitting on you. As long as you gathered all of these for one class you can transition to Perilous. Promotions are not necessary at all for running Perilous.

The quality of the chest rewards depend on your gold spent and items found in treasure rooms. The more gold you spent, the better the quality. The best thing of course, in regards to the gold spent/items received ratio, is buying the biggest chest. Unsure, but I think you'll achieve the highest item score having 800k gold spent.

It hasn't been too long since I got "over the hump" myself. I echo what has already been said. Focus on chests, gold, salvaging for materials, and crafting armor. As you keep buying chests, you will get some decent gear to keep you going. If you keep at it, you will be surprised at how quickly you will gain good gear.

You're useful in every difficulty when you don't go down, you can revive the people doing the damage, when you provide cc of some sorts, and barrier too I guess (not sure how it works with scaling honestly).

Weekend challenge chests will be your friend in this. They drop rarer and higher leveled weapons more consistently than regular store chests do.

Also certain classes are never gonna be good at damage.

I would say around 50 to all stats is when you can really start going through threatening with all characters fairly easily.....^_^

Aren't you the guy with a gazillion promotions? How good can you be to need that many promotions to clear Threatening?

Yeah Medallian - people should totally grind for over 200 hours before they can go through Threatening fairly easily......

Setting the bar way too high. I've been useful on threatening for quite some time and moved on into perilous and am useful there as well. I am only just beginning to approach 50 in each stat. Good gear is where it's at here.

Dang, my stats are 23/39/29. I can do perilous. Waiting to hit all 50's for threatening is absurd and not necessary. Not necessary even for perilous.

yeah but when I said 50 to every thing I mean with all characters can fully handle your own, with out needing some one to pick up slack, of course this is based off of when I was around these stats and game has changed drastically since then...... back in my day there was no one to tug you along  in perilous, or any difficulty for that matter and  these days its a regular thing .

If you are on X1 send me a friend request. GT is my username. If you are on another platform I am sure there are others willing to get you to higher difficulties quickly

Dude, I have 40/30/60 and yesterday we almost clear HeartBreaker. Freaking heartbreaker.

Gear, knowledge about enemies and the most important thing: friends who are OverPower.

My stats are 24 Constitution, 24 Willpower, and 18 Cunning. I can roll many kits on Perilous, and all of them can do Threatening blindfolded.

All you really need is enough materials to craft the highest-tier armor; enough game knowledge to read the tells of enemies, prioritize threats, and keep yourself out of major archer or wraith firing range; and enough chests unlocked to get in the "sweet spot" to grab yourself some nice purple weapons to aid the effort.

If you doubt any of that, feel free to watch my now-daily streams I'm doing in my hunt to unlock a Superb Ring of Life-Drain. From the response I've received so far, I'm not quite as scrubby as I initially thought and promotions definitely are not a major threshold to something such a Threatening. I was actually keeping it on that difficulty because I didn't think I was Perilous-ready with some kits at some levels... but with some encouragement from the Twitch chat crowd (and alcohol, LOL), I bumped up to Perilous much quicker with what I felt were under-leveled or under-promoted kits and did just fine.

Back in your day.

When where your stats 50?

2007?

Even some of the high lvl common weapons are good. I got a Balnced Sunbow early on and never looked back.

Keeper and Ele don't even need gear. Upgrade Barrier and become a bot. Lego should go alright too.

Check the Unofficial resource library and check out the build guides and all the other relevant info.

Add peeps as friends who are better than you. Best move I ever made ;)

So I just checked, all of my best weapons are blue...

Also certain classes are never gonna be good at damage.

I was the Katari. I was watching a bow user.

If it was an Archer perhaps they also did something to get super high crit chance and boost their crit damage?

Around 150 promotions total if your name is Medallian, otherwise zero. Threatening and Perilous will become easier through better gear.
