Otherwise despite Mecha being a cool concept I don't really like the stuff that surrounds it. See my notorious dislike of Evangelion.

If may I ask, why do really dislike Evangelion?

I dislike the characters, general storyline, the themes, the misuse of psychology, and the fanbase.

My problem with Pacific Rim wasn't the giant mechas...

It was that they needed human pilots inside them. All that could have been done remotely. But then we would never have had a great movie would we?

That was a fun ride though..

Aside from that EMP Pulse Leatherback could do right?

Remotely controlling Jaegers is very easy for the Kaiju makers to overcome.

I can think of several ways your nitpick would fail.

That tune reminds me of the Flash Gordon movie theme...

Eva is not a mech tho.

I think you can extend the definition (why not, definition of RPG changes all the time, hey!) to include any giant piloted animal-shaped vehicle. In that regard I'd like to include the Titans from Attack on Titan as Biological Mecha.

My problem with Pacific Rim wasn't the giant mechas...

Remember the lag you get playing online games? Imagine having to deal with that while you're trying to save the world. "Quickly Becket! Seal that rift with nuke and save the world!" - "Sorry. Can't do. Waiting for the server to reboot..."

Also don't forget the US vs Japan Giant Robot Combat challenge.

An Orbital Frame would be practical because it could stay in the air for extremely long periods of time if not indefinitely, as long as there was power. Beside the sleek and unique style of Jehuty, one of the reason Jehuty is one of my favorite mechs if not my very favorite is because of it's abilities.

It's able to fire homing laser missiles out of it's fingers, deploy an energy shield, store weapons in the vector trap and it's weapons and mobility. With the Mummy sub weapon it could repair itself and with Zero Shift (The Second Runner) it would basically teleport like it's twin, Anubis. WISPs can pull a target towards it, the Vector Cannon can deal massive damage and destroy a battleship. Also, at the hands of inexperienced runners Jehuty has destroyed several larger Orbital Frames.

It's final form, Naked Jehuty is where all of it's armor has been shed off, it loses all of it's sub weapons minus the zero shift and it is at it's most powerful.

Jehuty is truly a monster to fight against. However, without the Zero Shift function it is no match against Anubis, the strongest C type Orbital Frame.

 Naked Jehuty

That is the first thing I saw in your post. I was too worried to read the rest for the context may scar me.

That is one thing I do not need to picture.

So Cross Ange is a show everyone should watch at some point.

It makes you more popular and sexy.

I liked Cross Ange. Mechs, dragons, fanservice, a decent story, it was pretty good.

For me, I'll go with a classic:

I only like Pacific Rim, Gurren Lagann, and Metal Gear.

MechaGodzilla is also cool. He was built by Space Apes.

If your pilotable giant robot isn't built by Space Apes then you're not a cool guy.

Macross is far better than Gurren Lagann, don't deny it.

You're all children  :P .

The two Mechs I preferred over all else, when they were available, was 'Timber Wolf' aka 'Mad Cat' (75 t), and 'Hellfire' (65t).  I would typically prefer Timber Wolf even to heavier mechs, even if they were available. I've probably piloted  'Vulture' aka 'Mad Dog' (60 t) more hours than anything other biggish though, due to availability and weight limitations. And that was also a favorite. I also had a favorite 40t Mech but I cannot remember it.

My setup was two-handed. I'd have a joystick in my left hand, controlling the Mech's movements and buttons assigned to various things. I'd typically divide my weapons between different firing buttons. As I remember, it was trigger for lasers, one button for any sniper weapon and right mouse button for SRM. I'd use right hand and mouse for turret control. Then I'd run and shoot. Mostly running battle, aiming for legs. The thing with having triggers in the left hand, is that the mouse and turret aiming becomes more stable and accurate. The aim is not affected by firing. Lasers, lasers, lasers, and heat sinks, heat sinks, heat sinks.

YOU FORGOT MECHA FISH!

Gyad I hated that fish.

It came during a period where I didn't like going deep in the water. It scared the living hell out of me.

Now I just don't swim.

I blame Sim.

My real sin is forgetting Golden Robot George Washington Koloktos.

Did you learn nothing from War in the Pocket, Barnie?

DID CHRIS MEAN NOTHING TO YOU?

I learned that the primary reason the Feddies won was because of a Gundam.

And how quickly GM pilots die.
