Ye olde Victorian era Bathysphere, for ye diverse and sundry explorations of ye Deeps...

Bathysphere.jpg

A blob with bits on, basically... The portholes look emptily black in the image, but they actually use that old shiny texture BioWare used on their mirrors which looks anything between fathomless black and bright silver depending what angle you look at it and thus the portholes are a bit more "glassy" than they may appear here.

My ATLANTIS Modules begin with the arrival of a Victorian Professor, his granddaughter (and an obviously doomed diving bell operator who gets eaten in the first ten seconds) in the crystal-roofed, long since sunken continent of Atlantis. They arrive by means of this Bathysphere, the professor hoping to prove his theories upon the lost continent of Atlantis and finding considerably more than he imagined...

They find the imperious, callous Atlanteans to be enslaving people whose vessels are drawn down from the surface by arcane powers. They find that monstrous aquatic Spleens (such beasts are mandatory in my Modules) infest the whole realm and attack everything in sight, the Bathysphere included, stranding them at the bottom of the ocean... And that their arrival begins a chain of political change and manipulation within the citadel of Atlantis which may have unimaginable repurcussions for not only the lost world at the bottom of the sea but also the surface world as well...

Atlantis is defended by the last power of Moon and Sun which Atlantis harvested whilst on the surface thousands of years earlier, these powers made corporeal in the form of Selena, the Moon Goddess (the central character, yes, the tall, voluptuous, blue individual above) and her brother, Helios, the Sun God, the twin Guardians of Atlantis... though as Selena learns from the professor's granddaughter about the Suffragette movement and discovers what slavery really means to those under the whip, she begins to vehemently question what she's guarding...

All of which you utterly don't really need to know, since it just means you get a rusty metal ball with bits sticking out. If you want one. And if you can think of anything worthwhile of your own to do with a Bathysphere in NWN...

Dolphin.jpg

A dolphin creature for NWN. Finally I could solve the problem with animations. It uses a modified version of the NWN shark animations. Animations aren't my strong point, however it think that the result is decent enough, and is better than nothing.

Dolphin animations sample:

The dolphin model is one from "animium.com"

If someone wants a real challenge, how about a fully animated giant octopus/squid/cuttlefish/nautilus (animal that is)/kraken/ammonite/marsh mangler (armoured fresh water version of a squid). In other words something with arms/tentacles (strictly speaking an octopus has no tentacles, just 8 arms).

:pinched:

GAHH !

Numerous cpu/ hdrive meltdowns and RL cause me to miss out on these last few challenges.

I can't barely stand it that I have no time to concentrate upon some various submissions.

(Many wips in abeyance...)

I just adore so much the work that the you all (ccc contributors) have accomplished so far.

Shemsu-Heru:

I really like the dolphin !

( Fyi: I have many other deep sea meshes/textures that came from previous harvests)

Please consider that the shark anim is only the beginning (I was working on it too)

Dolphins have numerous behaviours that could be well captured by custom animations.

But I have had no time to work on it ....  :crying:

If anybody needs a 3d model outline for a squid/octopus, I picked up this image from an advertisement on facebook a few years ago, put it in my downloaded images folder, and intended to clone it off for use here.

I converted this dugout canoe OBJ model to MDB and it worked out pretty nicely. You'll have to trim the poly count way down though.

Thanks!

However as I have said, animations aren't my strong point. I'll be glad if you or anybody would expand those animations in the future. I think that, It wouldn't be too hard because, I have set the animations in a different mdl file than the dolphin; The dolphin uses that file as supermodel. I also have planned to making some whale models which would used the same supermodel file....

BTW: If someone would make some setsounds of dolphin and whales I would really appreciate that....

Shemsu. Good work. Is this possible to use in low water as well? 1.69 sharks has high water and low water variants, high water is more into underwater area, low water is into rural /tropical where you have walkable water on the shores. While Orca wouldnt be very useful around shores, it could be great to be used in a walkable open water intented for ships.

Nice model. It would make a good base model for a Kraken.

imho

What would need a low water version, made it move closer to the ground?

This would be a great opportunity for someone to create the proper spell scripts that would fail underwater.

Lightning Bolt becomes like Fireball!

Fire spells fail completely.

Movement rate is like Slow.

Haste is like Normal Movement.

There has never been a script package available for builders with this. Over all the years, anyone who claims to have done this proper, mention it's in their PW include file, come check us out -insert advertisement here- to see it in action!

FP!

My HR base has a added spell collum for spells that do not work underwater, other effects can be put in on spell by spell basis easily. It also has the movement effects, visual and skill checks etc.. all related to underwater system. You welcome to rip anything out for this CCC or look at it for ideas and how to set it all up. Most can be done through spell hooking with a marker on caster and targers of being in or underwater.

Sorry I not releasing anything right now, my main computer I do all my nwn work is having major problem of freezing up. I think it might be near it last legs and I'm starting to build a new systems also.  :) good luck all.

This image doesn't have any visible mesh marks, but it wouldn't be too hard to clone it as a nwn model.

MD, I think that last one is definitely (very) old school - I think it's an actual physical model made from paper and circular self adhesive felt pads.

Also known as a sperm whale. If you make a creamy white version of the skin texture you will basically have a model of "Moby Dick".

I have thought on that, However; Isn't moby Dick bigger than a common cachalot, and have harpoons encrusted all over it's back?

Bigger, yes but not necessarily noticeably so. Harpoons were only there after its first encounter with captain Ahab if I remember correctly (but it has been years since I saw the old movie - haven't read the book).

Captain Nemo's submarine - The Nautilus!

Or... actually, in this case, PHoD's submarine - The Nautilus...

Nautilus1.jpg

I started making the Nautilus in gmax about four years ago just as a test, to see if I could. I got a sort of gigantic, roughly cylindrical blob and gave up. It's been sitting there ever since. Now that I'm doing my ATLANTIS Modules, I suddenly had a vaguely silly idea and have thus pounced upon the not-at-all Nautilusesque blob and have been frantically hitting it with every available brick.

Nautilus2.jpg

It now actually, startlingly, looks like an eccentric Victorian submarine rather than a blob! It isn't specifically based absolutely upon Jules Verne's descriptions in 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, nor is it intended to be wholly accurate to the 1954 film version; it's just a sort of generic PHoD Nautilus. I can't imagine what the hell possible use the Nautilus is likely to be to anyone in NWN, probably not even me - but if nothing else, playing around with it made a REALLY nice looking screenshot underwater with some Sharks (and some herring).

Nautilus3.jpg

Due to being BIG, the beautiful but almost certainly pointless PHoD Nautilus requires a significant amount of water in which to look sensible. Don't go trying to install it in small rural streams. It won't fit.

The domed viewing ports are set so that they have a slight glow, not visible in broad daylight, but notable at night or underwater.

Nautilus4.jpg

Some assorted details of the Nautilus - the tail assembly, with rudder and propeller - an access hatch with little locking wheel just to raise the polycount a little further for no very good reason - one of the main hull viewing ports, with support rings done as geometry for yet more additional verts in the mesh when it could theoretically have been put on the hemisphere as texture... but it wouldn't look as good then.

Nautilus5.jpg

Basic side view of the Nautilus... It's essentially finished, but there are still a lot of minor details I want to hit with small, subtle bricks... So there you have it... If anyone ever wanted to recreate 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea in NWN (which I don't imagine anyone ever did) now's your chance! I'm still vaguely thinking maybe, just maybe, I'll bring the Nautilus and Captain Nemo into one of my ATLANTIS Modules... and failing that, I've now got this recurring idea about a certain wandering Time Lord and her stripy, feral friend encountering the Nautilus. I just keep thinking of these scraps of interesting discussions on morality between the Doctor and Captain Nemo... anyway...

Should be great with an interior tileset too :)

Have been away and insanely busy with RL, but considering that I have been wanting to do an ocean-based campaign for a while this is THE CCC theme for me.

I'm particularly interested in possible tileset modifications and additions (don't know if these would qualify for the CCC though):

Addition of animated 'currents' within the underwater tileset giving the impression of 3D movement (essentially this would be same old raise/lower, but with an illusion of swimming up and down in the middle of the ocean depths.

'Walkable' ocean water that you could put next to ships on which various sharks and sea monsters appear to swim around (and perhaps even ships too, if these were converted to creatures for the effect of sailing about (though anything up close would have to be a tile, obviously).

Proper swim animations for humanoids (and possibly even for quadrupeds, but that's just dreaming...)

Animations (or even just more different static versions) of ships/ship tiles with sails being unfurled or taken down.  So you can have same ship model - with & without sails, stuck on a sea-rock or otherwise wrecked or at the ocean bottom....

Giant kelp forests - either as tiles or a selection of large-ish placeables.

Icebergs and more types of sea ice.

More brainstorm results forthcoming, but run for now I must. :)

p.s. some amazing stuff in this thread already!

OK, Then it wouldn't be too hard make and alternative version with a white texture. Also, albine cachalots in fact exist....

Just for curiosity; Isn't "dick" a word that is used colloquially in English, to call the penis?

So, Moby Dick = mobile penis?!

Bad joke, I Know...................
