The thing is that orthodox geth didn't interact with Council races before Rannoch, the only exception is Shepard.

I didn't say anything about orthodox geth. Legion was doing his own kind of adventuring during ME2, and it is not unthinkable there were others like him as well. Not to mention this geth could be a stowaway.

Who the hell would take heretic geth to Andromeda?

Legion wasn't adventuring, he had a mission. Nor Alliance, nor Council didn't know that main part of geth is not hostile until Rannoch, why would any of them want to make geth part of ARKON?

There's no way they'd bring the Geth.  Granted depending on the outcome of Rannoch, may determine what happens.  But who'd bring the Geth?

Krogan

Turian

Salarian

Asari

Human

Would make sense, then add 2 Andromeda species as squad mates.  I bet we'll see 5-7 new species in ME:A. I'd rather them make room for new species over the old (MW) species.

Quarians had a good backstory in my opinion.  A very close-knit nomadic group wandering the galaxy trying to reclaim their home world.  I love Tali. But as a whole, aside from their story, I don't like them.  They've unleashed the Geth on the galaxy and I am glad that it reflects that in the game with their discrimination.

I just got tired of the Quarians "I know you have your problems, but O WOE IS ME."  Ditch them, and if you ditch the Quarians, more than likely Geth will get ditched with them.

You're in support of blatant fantastic racism because their ancestors supposedly "unleashed" the geth (who mostly killed only quarians and kept to themselves before the heretics anyway)? Would you support the same against the salarians, who unleashed the far worse Rachni Wars and Krogan Rebellions?

What instance are you referring to with the "O WOE IS ME" mentality specifically? I hear this a lot, yet the quarians never really do anything like that and all of them fully accept that their mistakes are responsible for their exile. You're perhaps thinking of the krogan with their constant ignorance of their role in the genophage and focus on how terrible it is for them, or the geth with their constant sob story excuses for both killing every organic they can get their hands on and allying with the Reapers.

The thing is that orthodox geth didn't interact with Council races before Rannoch, the only exception is Shepard.

Indeed, including allied geth and trying to avoid a canon at the sime time would require an utter contrivance, but it's not as if they haven't done this in the past anyway (ignorance of Rachni decisions, inclusion of allied geth into the canon Multiplayer even though they can be wiped out instead of becoming allies with everyone else). I wouldn't put it past them including geth regardless.

They'd take themselves of course, like the orthodox Geth.  That relay to Andromeda isn't immediately secured once it's discovered, so a variety of groups can use it.

As for the Alliance being involved I think they will be, considering you play as a member of the Alliance Reconaissance, Knowledge-gathering and ColonizatiON group.  How much they resemble the Alliance we know is something we won't know for a while, though.

Wrong.  I am glad that the consequences of their ancestors is reflected in game.  Showing the discrimination that Quarians have gone through, I've found particularly interesting, and resembling somewhat of what my parent went when coming to America.  I would like to go through a game that has restrictions and laws against AI, and nothing showing the disdain society would have for a nomadic race that unleashed the Geth.  That was well done and well written, in my opinion.  No need to get touchy.

How was I touchy? I asked for you to elaborate your position, and you answered in support of fantastic racism by using a real life metaphor that you were equally in support of. That answers the question to my satisfaction. You've a right to be racist if you so please.

Still would like answer to the other part of the question about how you go about supporting the assertion of a "woe is me" mentality among the quarians, though as you already admitted to support for irrational racism in judging said group I doubt the answer would consist of much rational thought either.

Well considering that going to Andromeda is an effort greater than what the Alliance can achieve I only think that is safe to say we are going to have an united government of all Council races. Personally at this point we are ready for one government. The Colonial Council.

You're obviously not getting it, now suddenly I am a racist, because I liked how the developers added in repercussions for the Quarians experimenting with AI resulting in the Geth?  Aside from what I post on my profile, you know NOTHING about me or my beliefs.  Just only that I liked how the writers added in discrimination towards the Quarians in terms of depth for the story, now suddenly means I am a racist in real life?! Hilarity.

I don't like their "O WOE IS ME," because I feel like everytime I've talked to a Quarian in-game, it feels like it's all about them and their Geth problems.  That's my opinion.  And now I am a racist for it?  A fictional species?! I'm a racist over a fictional race?! Lmao.  The whole Rannoch mission was my least favorite.

Your initial comment was "I don't like them.  They've unleashed the Geth on the galaxy and I am glad that it reflects that in the game with their discrimination", i.e. that you personally support in universe discrimination based on a racial stereotype (all quarians should be discriminated against due to the actions of some of their ancestors) which is fantastic racism and not some appeal to authenticity that you are now trying to turn it into.

I don't like their "O WOE IS ME," because I feel like everytime I've talked to a Quarian in-game, it feels like it's all about them and their Geth problems.  That's my opinion.  And now I am a racist for it?  A fictional species?! That is objectively false, there are plenty of conversations with various quarians in game that don't even mention the geth starting in the first one where Tali can talk about them one time if you investigate then proceeds to ramble about how awesome the Normandy is, how she's having trouble sleeping, exposition on her family life and thanking Shepard for giving her equal treatment to the other crewmembers. Then there is every single one of them outside of the Fleet in ME2 (Veetor, Kenn etc.) who are like everyone else just trying to get by in universe.

Moreover, how does mentioning a conflict you are involved in with someone= "woe is me"? Of course the geth are mentioned, because a major side arc in both games is about the quarians preparing for then having a war with them. What the hell are they supposed to talk about in those missions, the weather? That's like complaining that Mordin constantly broods over the genophage. Is Shepard "woe is me" because s/he is constantly talking about the Reapers s/he is fighting against? Because Shepard complains a lot more than the quarians do (read, not much at all) about their situation ("wahh the Council won't listen to me"). Similarly, the geth and krogan are constantly whinging about how they aren't responsible at all for their own predicaments and how unjust their situation is (something the quarians never actually do). Where's your complaints against them or wishing to get them axed from the game?

Your opinion is ill informed. You are objectively engaging in FantasticRacism to make your point as to why the species should not show up in ME:A, but whether or not you take offense to any implications of that is up to you.

Any species that appear MEA will be there because they would have something to contribute to the story. That should be the main guideline for writing the game (any game for that matter).

I think it likely that we're looking at a BSG-style of government; the Council races have collaborated to send the expedition as a lifeboat against the threat of Reaper-inflicted extinction, there are representatives if the major species on a council in a manner reminiscent of the old government - but so far out, cut off from their home civilisation, the old strictures no longer have as much traction. I'd be surprised if internal unrest and politics within the fleet don't play a pivotal part in the new series.

I don't even see how they could include the geth without making a specific Rannoch outcome canon. Quarians are easier because they're already established and it wouldn't be a stretch if the sent a few people on the Andromeda mission.

No, they wouldn't. Regardless of what happens on Rannoch, there being Geth who are allied with the other species is canon.

That doesn't make it any less contrived, it simply indicates a there's a precedent for a different contrivance.

After DLCs stupidly put them in MP, the only way I was ever able to justify friendly geth running around with my playthroughs was to assume they were some of Admiral Xen's reanimated toys. Otherwise I don't see why the quarians wouldn't shoot them on site. Their being able to talk and operate independently without Reaper code is also a contrivance if Legion's dialogue about its own platform's uniqueness is to be believed.

I like this Quarian. Her voice carries the violet note of truth.

If anyone should be singled out for their ineptitude and general 'cry baby' behavior its the Krogan. They make no attempt to deal with the situation brought upon them by the Genophage (a situation that they brought on themselves mind you), and they continue to remain antagonistic, or at best brashly problematic, with the galaxy at large. And yet they (and the narrative) want's you to see them only as poor mistreated wretches that were unjustly attacked with the savage Genophage; an evil genetic virus deployed by evil, racist, jerk-holes.

The Quarians and the Rachni owned up to their mistakes. The Queen-Mother and her children join their chorus with the vibrant spark of the Quarians.

Well to be honest, I would be willing to accept a contrivance in the MP if it meant that I could see playable Rachni, and the other 'less popular' races in ME:A. All of these species have tons of potential, I would hate to see any of that abandoned in favor of the select few 'fan favorites'.

As would I. The player should have never been given the power to greatly influence the fate of 5 seperate in universe species/factions (rachni twice, drell, quarian, krogan and geth) to the point of possible extinction, because it goes against all logic and destroys the variety of the setting, so I'd welcome any "contrivance" to mitigate or ignore the consequences of those decisions if it meant they weren't going to make more stupid, too far-reaching consequences like that in the future.

Same here.

And don't forget the Hanar and the Elcor; the continuation of both of those species are tied to missions that the player can undertake.

I just read in another thread that MP had collectors. I don't think Bioware is too concerned with lore in their MP game. Funny. I thought I killed those off in the collector base

Alliance is fine, I just hope we aren't reporting to an older, more experienced, male admiral/general with an American accent.

I mean, it's supposed to be the overarching body of all of humanity. No reason we can't see it from a totally different angle from in the trilogy.

It did. And they were super fun to fight too.

The "lore" back story involves there being a Collector ship which was not in the core at the time, which is actually plausible as it was never assumed by the characters in ME2 at any time that there was only ONE Collector ship. Indeed, they express surprise at running into the same one that attacked the Normandy. Additionally, we know that there were at least two as it was a second ship that attacked Fehl Prime during Vega's little adventure there.

Then, during the Reaper war, they were told to go fight like the puppets they are.

Honestly, I really hope that we aren't tied to the Alliance again. If they absolutely MUST be in involved, Codex. That or the N7 in the trailer is just a rogue that left them. "Oh yea, I used to be part of the Alliance." *Codex entry added* Done.

You do realize the tremendous resources needed to construct a human version of a Quarian liveship right? (If that is what the Ark is)

If it is a human version of a liveship the Systems Alliance is really the only entity that has the manpower, resources and political muscle to do so.Pouting that you don't want play with the Alliance is not going to make it happen.
