So I joined a Public Perilous Perilous game as a Level 4 Archer. 32-22-30
My loadout is as follows, Heartstring Bow, Maxed 173 Armor - has 11 Cunning, 8% Melee defense and 6% Ranged Defense
I also run with a Blue 100HP Belt, 2 Purple Heal on Kill Rings and a Superb Amulet of Constitution.
I realise that this loadout is very HP heavy, but it's what I run when I don't want to be a burden to others in a public match.
For Abilities I had Payback Strike and Explosive Shot with Caltrops.
The Caltrops saved my bacon more than once, as if you are downed and an enemy walks on your spikes, the Heartstring Bow gives you an Auto-Revive by virtue of it's Heal-on-hit feature.
I think the key to not being wiped like the floor is to simply pick your fights sensibly, know when to runaway, when to stay back and when to head closer to the enemies. A massive piece of advice is to skip doors unless the party are all aware that you are about to open it.
HOWEVER!! The biggest Pro-tip in the Universe is that you can never simply rush to your fallen comrades and revive them UNLESS you are a Legionnaire with Walking Fortress (Higher specced than L4) OR you have a crap-ton of Guard generated. It is safe to count to around 20 in your head and revive them at an opportune moment as opposed to insta-reviving. The single most stupid thing that players do in an average match is as thus: A Templar Assassin (the annoying red buggers who go to stealth and then shank you 20 times rapid-fire) will kill someone and then what ensues is comical. Someone runs up, ignores the enemy, goes for a revive and voila two down. The "Hero" upfront doesn't have a clue what happened and is blissfully hacking away and the third dude gets shanked, leaving everyone to watch what is usually a Legionnaire who proceeds to revive, only it often results in a 2nd down for a player as their health was simply overwhelmed by the hordes of enemies that are surrounding the bodies. Sometimes it's better to soldier on and let your team-mates be revived when you hit the end of an area. A heck of a lot better than givind them a 2nd down for the sake of a fast-revive.
