Half Life 3 will never be released, and it is all YOUR fault!

But in all honesty it does make a lot of sense, as it is I am having a hard time figuring out how the first 2 Half Life games became as highly regarded as they are and it would seem that the praise has been echoed around so much that it has built these 2 games up to a somewhat undeserved god like status setting an impossible precedent for the 3rd game to follow. Now matter how good Half Life 3 is Valve knows that there is no way that it can live up to the level of hype and impossible expectations put on it.

That video has already been proved wrong by Valve. Just saying. They even did a follow up video saying so.

I don't even like Half Life, but that video sounds a bit far fetched for first post.

That click-bait title. At least it's made in jest ... or at least I hope it's made in jest, because the alternative is hilariously stupid.

So the answer is, stop spending money on the free to play games.

Partially however you do have to admit with all the hype Half Life 3 does have some pretty impossible expectations to live up to.

All I'm waiting for is Croshaw's joke review of the hypothetical Half Life 3, in the same vein as Duke Nukem Forever.

I do miss the days when shooters were less about regenerating health and snuggling up against chest high walls in linear corridors as opposed to the old 'more-sprawly' based shooters. Wolfenstein is supposedly leaning towards the old school, haven't played it to confirm that.

Impossible expectations allright. But that's not something a part of the ME community patented.

If anything, we should thank those Half Life 3 nutties for the ME3 haters.

Just more let's blame the gamers BS. If there's any reason Valve won't make HL3, aside from not needing the income,  it's because shooters have evolved to the point where that game would no longer stand out in the market. Unless of course they thought they had a truly innovative game, which they probably don't.

I guess the bitg problem is simple. People expect the next half-life game to push the boundaries of the FPS genre.  BOTH HL1 and HL2 did it. In HL2 they did it with physic and the ''hero journey'' . The last of us did something similiar.

So everyone expect so much from HL3. They don't expect another FPS. They expect a revolution in the gaming culture.

A whole lot of excuses being made for Valve here, none of them jusifiable.

Valve issue is that they became lazy. The last actual game they released was counter strike in 2010 and it was nothing special. Most people played it for nostalgia sake.

And after this long they must be out of shape when it comes to making new games. I mean, are they even trying to create a new engine or are they going to follow the call of duty path?

This is what I've been thinking for a few years now. Valve are typically rather innovative, and usually strive for their games to achieve something which others have not. However, seeing as the FPS genre in now geared towards multiplayer gaming, there doesn't seem to be much that Valve can do to make HL3 stand out in this time as the previous HL games did in their respective periods. I remain hopeful that we will eventually see something, I just don't think it'll be anytime soon.

I know this is pretty controversial, but I thought the Goku segments were only GOTY for ONE year at best worthy, which is a total fail compared to the rest of Half Life 3.

Wasn't aware Valve needed an excuse to not make Half Life 3? Not sure why they need more reason to not make Half Life 3 than "We don't want to make Half Life 3"? It is not like they took Kickstarter money under the impression they were going to deliver Half Life 3 then decided to pocket the money instead.

Not sure where it states Valve are contractually obliged to give you the Half Life 3 experience you were waiting for?

When it comes to the never ending wait to get a proper ending after the cliffhanger in HL2E2, I really wish Anonymous or some other hackers would shutdown and completely erase Steam, completely destroying it's hardware and software worldwide. Probably best to do it cliche like on Guy Fawkes day.

So you want a bunch of people who aren't even legit hackers to cause millions of dollars worth of damage that greatly affects all the innocent customers who own games on Steam simply because Valve stopped making video games?

Seems legit.
