Didn't Half Life 2 win game of the decade? Skyrim could win such a price because it is still active 4 year after release and the mod community is huge.

I would be surprised if Fallout 4 does not win more than a few GOTY awards because god help the gaming publications that don't give it GOTY, if you thought the fallout from Gamespot giving the Last of Us an 8 out of 10 was bad just try and give Fallout 4 or any game by Bethesda Game Studios an unfavorable review and see what happens!

 

But that said for me personally from what I have played this year Witcher 3 takes the top spot without contest, but that said the year isnt over yet and the Phantom Pain looks like a pretty strong contender as well, can't call GOTY yet without seeing what it has to offer first.

Seriously though, it's going to be FO4. Everyone will love it while I get bored in 5 hours just like with FO3 and Skyrim. Hoping Witcher 3 gives it a good fight.

I would be shocked - stunned, really - if TW3 could win in the conventional gaming press.

Witcher 3 has 94/100 on Metacritic (92/100 on PS4) from those "conventional gaming press" portals, which is the same as Elder Scrolls: Skyrim and higher than Fallout 3. 

Not to mention it's far superior user scores (the last mainstream PC game with that high a score was Half Life 2, as far as I know).

 

Fallout 4 has a mountain to climb.

As Witcher 3 lacks Power Armor, Supermutants and Laser & Plasma Rifles it's already lost, but that's just my opinion.

The Witcher 3 had bad timing and should of waited till next year or been on time last year.

Hell, at this point, I think the media would probably still bequeath that honor to Arkham.

Dragons spinning like tops in the sky and countless dead-end quests weren't enough to keep Skyrim from GOTY status. Let's be real.

I expect FO4 to take the majority of awards, but I'm also expecting W3 to snag a few GOTYs as well. Gamespot for instance, considering they gave it a 10/10, which is a rare occurrence from them. Not that it really matters at this point, FO4 will sell millions, and W3 already has far surpassed it's predecessors in sales. At least we know Cyberpunk will be GOTY for 2077 .

Life is Strange will be Game of the Year.

 

But, in keeping with the topic. I don't really know. Witcher 3 is amazing, both in quality and quantity. The story is amazing. The graphics are top notch. The mechanics are brilliant. It's just a great game.

 

I have no doubt Fallout 3 will be amazing as well. The graphics look so much better than I would have imagined. I'm sure the new mechanics will also be brilliant. Story? We'll have to wait and see.

 

I think both will be worthy contenders for the title.
