The Witcher 3 had bad timing and should of waited till next year or been on time last year.

Um, you do know TW3s release date was already set run stone before FO4 was even announced, yes? Also TW2 coming out the same year as Skyrim did not change the fact that most gamers preferred TW2 over it.

Also if TW3 released last year the game would have been horrible. There was still some things cut and something rushed with the extended release date.

I honestly couldn't care less.

Game of the Year is a superficial title these days.

Haven't played either yet, though I assume it'll be an easy victory for TW3 at least in my case.

The fact that it's Bethesda developing FO4 is already a negative indicator to me. It'll end up like Skyrim, which I've played more than I'd like to admit. However, the reason I enjoy Skyrim isn't because of the game itself or its story, but because it's a big sandbox for mods and, thanks to mods, I can roleplay as awesome stuff like; a traveling Bard accompanied by his childhood friend, a witch hunter cursed by lycanthropy who travels the roads in a wagon, or a badass Shaman. Mods made Skyrim and they'll make FO4, and hopefully Bethesda won't do something stupid like kill the goose with paid mods.

New Vegas, on the other hand, drew me in because of its story and its factions. Hardcore mode was awesome and I could get into the world with relatively few mods. Pretty much I only used a house mod and some clothing.

I expect FO4 to take the majority of awards, but I'm also expecting W3 to snag a few GOTYs as well. Gamespot for instance, considering they gave it a 10/10, which is a rare occurrence from them. Not that it really matters at this point, FO4 will sell millions, and W3 already has far surpassed it's predecessors in sales. At least we know Cyberpunk will be GOTY for 2077 :P.

Maybe it will be the best game that year, maybe it won't. Either way, they're not getting the award.

When was it ever not a superficial title?

Wasn't it actually worth something back in the old days?

Before every Internet site with a blog created their own, yes.

Now, not so much.

Not really.  The award and nomination process still serves the same purpose today as it did in "the old days", saturation and all.

Could be wrong, though, since I may have forgotten to take my memory pills this morning.  Jimmy, could you hand me my walker, please?

I would, DG, but I'm afraid my hip has given out. And I've defecated myself.

We've a saying around here. Maybe there is similar where y'all live.

"Když se dva perou, třetí se směje."

Roughly...

"When two fight, the third laughs."

Just sayin' there's Life is Strange on the loose...

I doubt it'll win much.

Not because it's a bad game, but because it's not the kind of high profile game that tends to dominate GOTY awards.

It's a fairly well visible title, in my opinion... that's hella ( ;) ) awesome to boot.

I have faith in gaming this year :P

I would stop doing that. GOTY awards are won by the biggest names over which is best. There is also gamer game of the year awards which is essentially a test of who has the most god awful fanbase and is willing to spam the polls.

"Fairly well" visible usually isn't enough =P

Only the really big name titles like Fallout 4 or The Witcher 3 get to win the bulk of the GOTY awards. At best, Life is Strange might pull a few "viewer's choice" awards.

Life is strange is my game of the year I love it so much more than the witcher bloodborne is not as far away from LiS Fallout could be but I am so far preferring the new Vegas look than this other than the settlement building which is probably going to be a little bit of a disappointment in my eyes of what I hope to do with it

I can't for the life of me name any GOTY winner from the early 2000's or earlier, honestly. I can't name any GOTY winners after the early 2000's either, it really doesn't mean anything. I can name my favorite game from each year pretty easily though.  B)

Witcher 3 has 94/100 on Metacritic (92/100 on PS4) from those "conventional gaming press" portals, which is the same as Elder Scrolls: Skyrim and higher than Fallout 3.
Not to mention it's far superior user scores (the last mainstream PC game with that high a score was Half Life 2, as far as I know).

Fallout 4 has a mountain to climb.

TW3 is a great game. But that's a far cry from dethroning an outright financial juggernaut like Fallout 4, which will have a major publisher behind it that most gaming publications have to felate to get the access that keeps their business afloat.

For TW3 to win, Fallout 4 has to flop. I don't see how in a world where FO4 is successful where it would be dethroned by TW3.

TW3 will probably be game of the year for me personally, the only person that counts.

I didn't expect to like it so much, in all its cornball but on-point-soundtrack glory.

Unless Fallout 4 really delivers, I concur.

I wonder if the Mad Max game will be a contender. I think that this lineup may be a bit too heavy for it to be a serious contender, but it seems to have some potential.
