Um, you do know TW3s release date was already set run stone before FO4 was even announced, yes? Also TW2 coming out the same year as Skyrim did not change the fact that most gamers preferred TW2 over it.

Also if TW3 released last year the game would have been horrible. There was still some things cut and something rushed with the extended release date.

Yeah, not sure about that. Skyrim was a wildly popular and praised game on top of being basically the best selling RPG in history. Unless you want to restrict gamers to people who bother posting on RPG forums, I'm quite sure it's the opposite actually.

I mean, I prefered TW2 to Skyrim. Same as I'll very, very probably prefer TW3 to FO4, because CDPR are just better at building good RPGs than Bethesda. But the latter is vastly more popular.

I won't get into an argument over your opinion, but your statement that most gamers preferred TW2 was factually and hilariously wrong.

I run into a lot of gamers who, sadly, were bored by The Witcher 2's protag and politics, and couldn't be bothered with the frustrating controls. Most sank endless hours into Skyrim. They're different games with different objectives.

Most likely Fallout will get it despite being more of the same formula. One thing TW3 will have going for it though: the expansion, which will likely steal at least some of FO4's steam, as it comes out shortly beforehand. It also ( hopefully) allows CDPR to implement game tweaks and new game mechanics with the expansion. So in other words, there'll still be buzz around The Witcher when FO4 arrives. Probably a lot of it. If they manage to clean up some of the game mechanics and make a good 10+ hr expansion, that's stiff competition for Bethesda. Besides, I don't exactly see how Bethesda is pushing the envelope with a voiced protagonist or minecraft inspired gameplay.

To use an analogy, The Witcher is grey poupon and Fallout is ballpark mustard. For the most part gaming is a hot dog and unfortunately no one knows what snobs eat with that snobby mustard. And the ballpark umpire yells out "Play ball" not uh start your Cricket or Polo.

I wonder if the Mad Max game will be a contender.

I have a feeling Mad Max will be somewhat like Shadow of Mordor, surprisingly good for a movie based tie-in game but not that amazing either.

It looks mediocre at best. The Arkham/Mordor style melee combat really doesn't fit it and I don't like that enemies get highlighted when you aim at them like in some AC game. The vehicular combat looked ok, but not something that would blow one away to Valhalla.

Fallout 4 will win off brand alone as long as it doesn't have any glaring issues. If the TW3 Enhanced Edition comes out before the awards I could see that pushing it ahead if it is really good.

I'm not a huge fan of either game, but I'd say that's a pretty big factor, given TES mod support.

For me at present it is life is strange.
I know what expect from fo4; life is strange has been a massive blast of fresh air for me.

However as noted above money talks.

Forget Fallout or Witcher.

Metal Gear, that's where I'd put my money.

I've never played any in the series, but from what I saw in Let's Plays of MGS: Ground Zeroes, it's just your regular stealth action game.

Why are people nerdgasming about this franchise?

Does it have something special about it? I mean, it obviously has to, to have such a fanbase, but I have no idea what so far.

Either you like it or you don't. I liked the first one, but that's about it. Freaking cutscenes all the time.

Cinematic storytelling at its finest, though it can become tiresome if you are not into that sort of thing. It touches on alot of themes in a beautiful way and it is quite emotional at times. Thing is people either love it or hate it, there is no middleground when it comes to MGS. Its a good stealth action game though, alot of approaches to each mission, and they are all done well. It has changed alot from game to game with MGS3 beeing the best of them gameplay wise.

Only based on what I am likely to play, but my nominee at this future time is XCOM 2.

I don't get it. It happens every time. Fans all act as lemmings proclaiming games that aren't out yet as greatest games of the year. Happens every bloody time. How on earth can Fallout 4 be any good, when it's not out yet and no one has played it?

Wait for the game to come out. Plus it's a Bethesda game, odds are that it will be full of bugs.
