Are some of you people insane? How can Fallout 4 be the best rpg of the year, when it's not bloody out yet?

We never said that it was the best game or even RPG of the year. Most of us are just saying that Bethesda normally wins most Goty awards with their games, and Fallout 4 will be no exception to that.

This... and it doesn't hurt that when TW2 released, Skryim was the game that overshadowed it.  Bethesda games tend to be like GTA, in that they generally live up to the hype.  But then they take the time to make sure the game is up to par.

That isn't saying there might not be a surprise or two out there, given that Persona 5 and Metal Gear are both releasing this year.  They could knick a few awards.  And it doesn't change the fact that many might not personally choose Fallout 4 as their GOTY.  I mean, I didn't have Fallout 3 as my GOTY back in 2008.  Tales of Vesperia took it for me personally.

And hell, at this rate I would not be shocked if Persona or King's Quest might get my nod over Fallout (I think I'll love it still, but KQ has that charm that I haven't had since KQ disappeared years ago) and Persona is Persona.  It's just that Fallout comes from a study with true pedigree for greatness.

Jeebuz now it's worse than DA2? Wow. Anywhoo, TW3 has some disappointing faults, I won't deny that. But I was uninspired by Todd Howard's emphasis on customization in the FO4 demo. What Bethesda really needs to work on is rolepaying and narrative, not turning Fallout into a sims style game. I'm a big fan of Bethesda but they really need to shake things up.

I agree completely, but the biggest selling point of Bethesda games is the ''be whatever you want'' aspect. That the game renders it somewhat meaningless by not reacting to it at all is seemingly a secondary concern to many people.

No Bethesda game lives up to the hype, it never lives up to the promises Todd says and it's always pointed out by gamers the lies and empty promises where mainstream review sites ignore this and shell out.

Persona is also a niche in NA and will never be recognized by the mainstream audience, even if they are better then majority of AAA games.

And there are still people that greatly enjoy those games and consider them some of the best they've played. And to some it actually lives up to the hype. So why does it matter to you? We all have different tastes anyway.

If empty promises and outright lies are living up to the hype, then all the power to them but that does not change the facts that Bethesda and Todd Howard overhype, lie and make empty promises.

When you make promises like "new game engine" and it turns out it's the same POS engine with a new fancy name, there's a problem.

Did they hurt you personally or something? It just seems so excessive the way you go on and on. I mean every game developer or publisher talks up their game and promise stuff they can't hold. Its not like this is unqiue to Bethesda, it happens with everything in life. You can control your own expectations and decide how much you want to care about the hype. Anyway i am out. Take care.

The difference is Bethesda gets away with this where other game developers don't Just look at the infamous ME3 endings incident, yet nothing big happened when it was at last confirmed Skyrim was not running on a new engine or anything else that turned out to be a big fat lie in a Bethesda game.

Beth's fanbase is by and large very sycophantic, that is true. Probably because they have been doing the same game with a new coat of paint since Oblivion.

Yeah, that's probably why the only thing anyone does on BGSF is b*tch and moan about how great things used to be, just like the rest of the gaming community.

I know what it means, and I see how you refuse to get off of CDPR/TW3's bandwagon. That particular canvass is the most brainwashed group of people I've ever bumped into.

And how is this a bad thing? Usually when a sequel comes out all people can do is complain that the game isn't the same as its predecessor. Atleast you know what to expect from Bethesda and they have always delivered on it. Some people not liking the content does not take away from the content presented.

I'm beginning to think the anti CDPR fans are the creepiest. Most harcore Witcher fans I know have a sense of objectivity.

You can't please everyone. However, if they try to come at Cyberpunk....... There'll be hell to pay!

I've criticized CDP and the shortcomings of TW3 in the TW3 thread and on the CDP forums so sure.

Actually, I joined to talk about games I like and make friends, but all the friends I made left and it's mostly the assh*les who chased them off now, so here I am.

EDIT: By the way, I've been a member for a while, but my profile got wiped. Ask Crusty if you don't believe that.

Then you must not get out among the gaming community... CDPR fanboys are right up there with Dark Souls fanboys for some of the most obnoxious in their crusade to elevate their games as the greatest things in life.  I will say this, at least they aren't as bad as Nintendo fanboys still trying to act like that company isn't floundering in almost every respect possible.
