Disgusting vandals... I didn't know about Hitchbot before but that made me really sad ![]()
Dammit... that's why we can't have nice things.

That's America for you..
I'm sorry for that piece of junk as when I'm sorry when I have to change my toothbrush. ![]()
That's Philadelphia for you.
Honestly, the bot made it through New York and Boston, but didn't make it through the city of Brotherly Love. Mostly because even the best parts of downtown Philly are what Webster's Dictionary would classify as a "scum ridden crap hole."
I'm not surprised that the robot ended up destroyed in Philly, after all...this is a city where Santa gets boo'd and pelted with snowballs. Downtown Philadelphia is far from being a crime ridden slum however.
When going to South Jersey is considered a step up, you know you are in dire straits.I'm not surprised that the robot ended up destroyed in Philly, after all...this is a city where Santa gets boo'd and pelted with snowballs. Downtown Philadelphia is far from being a crime ridden slum however.
Aww. Poor hitchbot. It was only a matter of time really.
But man, those comments... seems like there's not much love for America out there.
Yeah.
I like how the destruction of a robot equates to how awful America and Americans are.
Man.
It's embarrassing to read.
Yeah.

I guess they all picked the Geth then.

Its daft. Implying the US has exclusivity on random acts of stupidity and/or violence...
Hitchbot wouldn't have lasted more than 10 minutes in my part of the UK before being looted by chavs.
Philadelphia is like perennially stuck in 1989, that said the downtown museums and historical landmarks are nice.
When going to South Jersey is considered a step up, you know you are in dire straits.
Is it as bad as downtown Beirut? No, it's not a third world country. But it's a problem if you have to point to some of the most dangerous cities in the world to say "see, it's not so bad." My experience with Philly is that is has more than its fair share of trashy, desperate areas and more than its share of trashy, desperate people.
Philadelphia definitely has its crime-ridden areas, but downtown/old city are very safe. Well, unless you're a robot apparently...
The neighborhood where the robot was smashed is one of the more affluent in the city. Some of the homes nearby can go over a million dollars. A lot of bars are also nearby however, and I'd bet that's probably how he ended up destroyed. It was probably someone leaving one of the bars.
Maybe they mistook it for a speed camera? Had it gotten as far as DC, the Capitol Police would have taken care of it.
Maybe someone thought it was Chappie and wanted to kill it..
Trump probably got it. Damn illegal robot immigrants!
Ha! Take that SkyNet.
But seriously, poor robobro.
Yeah.

Some people just have a chip on their shoulder and use whatever story to justify their idiocy.
Yeah.

I made the single word reference to "Americans" with light-hearted intentions. If you ever hear of a sex crime involving a polar bear with an unknown culprit you are welcome to say "Canadians" unless handguns were involved, than obviously Alaskans.

That makes sense, but holy cow that is one mean drunk. They tore of his legs, his head, and then took a picture of the remains.
After starting this thread I noticed that Hitchbot looks a bit like Bender in Futurama. Does anyone know where Matt Groening was at this time?

I still say that if it hadn't been Philadelphia, it would have been Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, or maybe even Texas
Yeah.

I agree that it's silly. If it had happened in Canada maybe they wouldn't have been so critical of all of Canada.

The wrong time and place moreso than culture then maybe?

Speed Cameras get no love. There's a reason for this. It's much more visually deterring to see a cop in the area reminding one to check their meter. It's just a way to tax the forgetful.
That's what you get for hiking to the 54th most dangerous city in the US. I bet this robot would stick its screwdriver inside a hornets' nest too if it still had the chance.
