Is there a guide/page anywhere that breaks down how loot is gained in MP? I've been trying to farm Perilous dragon runs to get better gear. Out of 26 dragon kills I got 1 purple dragon staff from dragon loot and 1 purple dragon 2h from a chest. How does the loot work with chest? Does it matter which difficulty you buy the chest in? How soon after you kill a dragon can you get purple dragon weapons from a chest?

Also when should I start going for nightmare? My arcane warrior is mostly all purple geared. I'm about 8 promotes for every class.

Also has anyone else ran into the bug where you kill the dragon in the air/on tower and he no longer lands? I've ran into this quite a few times and we've had to suicide and waste my dragon call. With there being no chat I cant tell my team mates to stop killing the dragon when its on the tower.

A "loot score" modificer is Applied to your account as well, to give increased chances of better loot as your score increases.

So if you are fairly new to the game, the modifier is not doing alot for you currently.

Simply open more chests to increase your chances. I believe it caps out at around 1200 items looted.

10000 is the current "top-tier" item cap , roughly 2.4million gold spent

From personal experience you will get much better items from chests around 300k+ gold spent.

DISCLAIMER: This is just me trying to work out your item loot level and does not include chests you may have opening in treasure rooms

look at your gold you have earned in General

Total gold , divided by 1200 x 5 should give you your loot level

(for new requisition chests use total gold, divided by 2000 x 8)

Example. I have 2,600,000 / 1200 x 5 = 10833 item score  (based on original large chests costing 1200g and given 5 items per)

The Devs are currently working on a way to show your item score in game.

Hope this helps.

Yes, the immortal Dragon occurs if you kill it while it's in the air. If it is on a tower then the trebuchet is the only way to kill it, but even that can bug the Dragon if you kill it either right as it is landing or while it is taking off.

Is there any system in place for getting lvl 24 "of the Dragon" weapons from chest? Or now that I have 25+ dragon kills I can start to get them from chest? If I farm gold on perilous to get my newer char up a bit do I still get lvl 24 dragon weapons? Or is there a time system in place after you kill a perilous/nightmare dragon? Not sure if this was explained somewhere.

Perilous dragon drops level 24 of the dragon loot, which can also come from chests. Nightmare dragon drops Hakkon weapons, level 26 items and currently the best gear in the game. Everything else comes from chests. Dragons can also drop HoK rings, superb cool down amulet, and the superb belt of health, but you're better off with opening chests for those.

Summary: Dragons drop the best weapons, chests for accessories.
Also, you could make the argument for bitter axe being better then the hakkon one hander. I don't see why though.

Edit: To your latest post, no there is nothing fancy in regards to drops from dragons, it's just straight up rng.

More details about dragons and itemlevel, as well as droprates can be found here.

A lot of the problem is that you get more purple items as you get higher but in my most recent runs I've pulled about half a dozen purple...all of which were trash to me. Getting a good items doesn't mean it is useful.

The item level of uniques acquired increases - overall - with higher Loot Score as well, from what I understand. So yeah, you'll pull some low level uniques here and there, but it does improve so that they're less frequent.

Hakkon weapons from Nightmare/Heartbreaker

Everything else is in the chests if you are lucky enough (even "of the Dragon" weapons)

Perilous Dragons still drop "of the Dragon" weapons

Have the party leader (you'll need to communicate this via voice chat or just have a party that understands this situation) leave the game then rejoin. Their leaving will do a host migration and the rest of the group will restart zone 5 (or whatever zone you're currently at).

Though you better hope the network doesn't up and say, "F@$! it" when the host leaves.
