How much longer can we beat this horse to death? Bets? Bets?
Until Mass Effect: Andromeda releases. Then we'll be beating the lack of romances in that game to death. The cycle must continue and all that sh*t.
So... according to you all, what's the best character to romance each male-romance option? I already played 2 pt (a female human mage who romanced Cullen and a female qunari warrior who romanced Sera).
I'd like to use all the available races for the romances, so as I was thinking about romancing Dorian with a human templar (I think it's weird to have an elf, qunari or dwarf who takes the templar specialization and I want to try to romance him as a templar), what about Cassandra? According to you, which is the best race for her? I know it doesn't really matter to the romance, but I want to know what you think.
For males, if you dont go same-sex, you've got josephine and cassandra as your only options. Cassandra is a butch scar-face who hates your guts for the first half of the game, and josephine (while I do like her voice and I'm pretty sure it's the same girl who did the voice acting for Tali in mass effect) is... a politician. Sorry, but I just cant trust her.
Females have it a little easier with Sera, I love her personality and style, but it'd be nice if she would have been an option for males as well.
I was told at first that you could romance harding, but it seems that's just the occasional flirt and nothing comes of it, plus she cant be a party member.
What happened to the options we had from origins or dragon age 2? The romance arcs were so much better in those games. I feel like I'm pretty much forced to roll a female character because the only decent romance we've got here is Sera.
That's weird...
For me it's not the choices so much as the method. Except for Blackwall your straight female PC has to initiate and chase your love interest. Makes me feel like I have to stalk them. At least in DA1 there was flower offering and compliments about nice hair.
Yes, the solution here is obvious: romance Dorian! He is gorgeous (you know it's true because he tells you so every ten minutes) and not a politician.
Dorian: Well, that's a new one for me.
i think they are perfectly fine for other people the characters in DA:I for me were popel i'd rather be friends with friendship arcs were far more satisfying, not everyy dragon age game should be about your gal/guy getting laid i like what bioware did this time around except sera shes lame ![]()
I guess I'm clueless. Do guys really prefer Morrigan's "oh, it's so cold...what shall we do about that..."? I realize that she is probably the most beautiful of all the females in the three games (Hawke can be the exception in DA;2), but that line? Really?
Cassandra's romance was very sweet, not as sweet as Cullen's but almost as sweet. Just because she has short hair, and scars from her profession doesn't mean that she's not a girly-girl underneath all the armor. Every woman has an 18-year-old inside waiting for prince charming. She may be in there along with the ****, the mom, the nun, the ****** and all the other women we women are, but she's there. With Cassandra, you just have to look harder for it.
IMHO, Josephine's romance is the sweetest in all the Bioware games I've played. She gives me a tooth-ache.

And that wonderful line "Maker's breath, you're beautiful!" Best pick-up line of all time, especially the way he says it.
I didn't get a blonde female romance in Origins or DA2, so I thought the options in both of those were pretty terrible.

I romanced Dorian as an elf, because tevinter elves are SLAVVVVES.
Cass does better with a human noble mage - apparently. i've not romanced her even though I totally would if i could be bothered with a millionth play through, i do love the cass

I romanced her with a Dalish/mage non-believer, she still loved him ![]()
Whhhaaaaat? I personally love all the combinations of romances we can do. I always go for the less popular pairings first, too.

The fun thing about Morrigan's romance is that it's not standard at all. It starts off all easy with the cheesy line you mention, and she's game for a roll in the hay as it's all a bit of fun, but then as your approval increases and you get close to her she shuts off the physical side. If it's your first PT (or if you are good at RPing) you wonder what the hell is going on. It's not until you find out about the dark ritual that you understand that she had started to care for you was afraid of getting too close, knowing her ultimate plan. Of course then you have witch hunt where your poor lost warden can find her again and step through the eluvian, and now in DAI you can talk to her and find out how much she truly loved him. It's very rewarding.
For me it's not about her looks. Claudia Blacks's voice, though... It melts me.
Cassandra is actually very attractive to me physically. I love short hair and I've no problem with her scars, but the whole "poetry and flowers" thing doesn't do much for me and I'm not religious. In terms of world-view I prefer pragmatic atheist Morrigan, although I'd throw in some of Cassandra's tolerance if I could. I haven't complained about Cass's romace though. It's fine, just not to my taste (for entirely different reasons to the OP.) It doesn't bother me as I have no problem playing as a female and I absolutely love Sera's romance, to the extent that I'm not sure I can roll a woman and romance anyone else. I kind of want to see the Solasmance, though. Currently I'm playing as a male Qunari who will romance Dorian. It will be my first gay male romance in DA, and I'm rather looking forward to it, actually.

I thought it was pretty corny.
Morrigan's romance was made to hit all the right buttons for straight guys, much as Alistair was aimed to do so with straight females. The whole mysterious, exquisitely sexy (usually scantily dressed) woman who is incredibly picky about who they sleep with, but they just have to have YOU. Of course, they don't believe in love, until they meet you, and then they fall head over heels. Funnily enough, a few scientific experiments show this to be a very successful method of seduction in real life too.
For me, I just find characters like Cassandra refreshing because they are more realistic for the setting. I like that she has scars, she's a friggin warrior, she fought dragons for Pete's sake. I like that her armour looks like it'll protect her, rather than stuff that shows off as much boobs and butt as possible. I also like how much they are switching up the characters, not just making each one a cardboard copy of "insert previously successful character". It's that variety which helps to keep things fresh.
They'll always be people who'll want the same old tropes of busty models in less than a hankie and buff guys that should be modelling Dolce and Gabbana. Personally, I'm really glad that Bioware tends to expand outside of this to give us characters and not just fantasy fufillment. Long may it continue!
That really doesn't fit with Morrigan, though. She is just after a bit of fun to pass the time. She precisely doesn't treat you as special initially. When she actually starts to fall for you she pushes you away and doesn't want to sleep with you any more. She really tries not to fall head over heels, and indeed has the strength of will to stick to her plan and leave until you specifically chase her down years afterwards.Morrigan's romance was made to hit all the right buttons for straight guys, much as Alistair was aimed to do so with straight females. As I said I think Cassandra is really attractive, and I think that the fact that they hid a soppy romantic behind her seemingly butch exterior is great fun. I adore the scene with Varric's book. It's possibly the best comedy moment in the game. It's just that for me, her sort of romance isn't my sort of romance. For me, I just find characters like Cassandra refreshing because they are more realistic for the setting. Agreed, but I think you're selling Morrigan short by judging her on her cleavage and pretty face as opposed to the actual content of her romance. They'll always be people who'll want the same old tropes of busty models in less than a hankie and buff guys that should be modelling Dolce and Gabbana. Actually my preference in origins was Leliana, she's always been one of my favorite characters in the dragon age series. In DA2, it was merril.
I do really like Harding in DA:I, but apparently she's not a full romance option, you just get to flirt here or there and it's automatically cut off if you initiate any other romance arcs. Wish I could boot someone else out of the party lineup and have Harding join my team. Sera, as mentioned, is also a fun character, but unfortunately doesnt want anything to do with a male PC.
I would say all da romances are terrible as they are pretty about Li not about both partners ,only time i can remember bioware did good job was jaheira
romance in bg 2 ,where it wasn't only about her but both of you.
Ok, it's been close to a year but I'm bringing it back:
