So everyone, do you prefer the new hyperspace jump where your ship moves faster that light? Or do you prefer the Mass Relay's creating a virtually mass-free "corridor" of space-time between each other?

'New hyperspace jump'?

We don't really know how far our ships will be able to travel on their own power yet.

How else would you describe it, BabyPuncher?

I think Larry-3 means by "new hyperspace jump," is the scene where the character chooses the desert planet, then we see a cool animation effect...

In the trailer, our ship left one system and jumped to a new one. I believe that we can, at least, safety assume that our ship can travel anywhere in a sector.

In some ways, it's not much different from what I've seen in ME, though most of the time when the Normandy goes into FTL or goes through a relay, we don't really get Joker's POV. There are only two instances I can remember where we get to see the Normandy drop out of FTL into a new area from the ship's view, and that's when going through the Omega 4 relay, and when entering Rannoch's space.

Well, to be fair, it's a trailer, so some things may not really reflect how things really are in the game. Like, jumping from one system to the next might actually take hours in-universe.

I think what we saw was a FTL jump.  So I agree.  That's how I would imagine in it.

Technically when we went to Rannoch's space, we were already in-system. We just F-T-L jumped there from the Mass Relay.

... Ha ha ha!! Oh how would that even work, Cheviot?

I think the reason why we won't need Mass Relays in ME:A is because each system is within a few light years of each other so an FTL jump would be possible.

If that was an F-T-L jump, then our ship is way faster than the Normandy. They creeper their way along in between systems -- burn fuel like it was nothing.

Well, it technically wouldn't be a "relay" if it's just a single device that functions on its own. It'd just be a mass effect engine.

I would expect the "Tempest" to be an advanced version of the "Normandy."  Kinda like the Enterprise.  Star Trek Enterprise version of their ship is far less advance that the Next Generations.

Would make sense for it to be faster.

Well that does not seem very exciting. We go to an entirely other galaxy, and only visit one section of it.

Bungee rope.

Nah, not really; more like Kasiershep's description of a Mass Effect engine.  Technology derived from the relays.  This would, of course, put the story a long while after the Shepard trilogy.

It doesn't, but I doubt the "Helius Cluster" would be the only cluster we will explore.  I think ME:A2, it will open up to the "Carbos Cluster" (just made that up) with 2x the size of Helius Cluster.

Something like that is in Star Wars. Smaller ships attach to a ring that surrounds the ship. And it basically gives an engine the ability to travel further and faster... That just came to mind when I read your comment, KaiserShep.

I just realized: sense it is EA, we will probably have to unlock the rest of the galaxy with DLC.

There is an image though in the concept art, that looks like it may be a type of ship, hubstation, or the Andromeda version of a relay.

I am not above the idea of reverse engineering Mass Relay's.

Yes. but it's nothing new.  We saw this imagine on N7 Day 2014.  Sorry I didn't post the picture.  But I'm sure you've seen this.  If not, enjoy!
