And this deserves an own thread? Don't think anyone doubted Mass Effect 1 would work on the new systems, assuming that even Kotor worked on the new ones.
and this is relevant for ME:A because...?
Removed!!!
Yet more evidence that the original ME was the superior Windows port.Mass Effect 2 keeps crashing in Windows 10 though.

Ha ha
I actually haven't tried ME1 yet on W10
I've tried ME3 been having a little trouble with it but when I've had the game working I have to say that ME runs a treaqt on it almost flawlessly in fact. Same with DAI had a bit of trouble getting it to install but once I eventually did get it up and running it ran very smoothly.

Insalled? I just upgraded the OS, no need to reinstall anything. It all worked immediately after upgrade.. What problems did you have with installation?

I just started a new ME1 game. Graphics do seem a bit sharper. I cant figure out why this would be though.

My understanding is that Win 10 is coming to the XB1 this fall and for those with a Lumia phone, you can install it as well.
Cross-platform gaming anyone?
Is it as crappy as 8?
Is it as crappy as 8?
8 wasn't crappy, just unintuitive and a pain in the ass. So maybe crappy.
It's a lot clearer than W8 and has a better UI. Looks a lot better too, a lot more like 7, and fewer awkward app moments forcing you into fullscreen.

Good thing I have Windows 10 in a Virtual Machine.

Well MS do have a the game Fables that is supposed to offer cross platform MP ,so the infrastructure is there. But of course we don't know what the 'Gotchas' are. One catch could be that games exclusive to Windows 10's X-box App are the one's that will have cross platform MP. So I'd guess that would count out Origin, steam, GoG etc Digital stores. With the X-Box app the second coming for Games for Windows Live, gotta think MS will will some exclusives of there own, with some incentives.

Non MS games won't be able to do cross-platform gaming. at this time.
However, PS4 users are now in some luck, because Sony announced two new Xperia smartphones with the ability to use the PS4’s Remote Play feature. Users can't Tap or Swipe when playing a game. Fear not, though, Sony can ship a device that can be attached to the Xperia to a full Duakshok 4, controller.

It's something we all want, but I think we're still trying to figure out how to make it work. Not so much from a technical standpoint but rather from a balance once.
There are certain types of games which are just better suited to certain control setups which means console players are usually left at a disadvantage because the controller is, for the most part, their only option. PCs can plug in just about anything we want and use it, including actual Xbox controllers if that happens to be the best one to use.
It's less of an issue for co-op games, but one of the bigger barriers for PvP ones.

Personally I think that would be perfect. All the people looking down on the PC/keyboard & mouse issues (DA:I forum) because we "could just use a controller" would flood the forum with tears if they had to go up against mouse users in PvP. Headshots for everyone... except the console players. ![]()
Btw... I don't know why ME1 would look better under Win10 unless it's related to DirectX. I use the Nvidia driver to override ME1's graphic options and force AA, AF and all the other options to make it look much, much better. It is possible that Win10 does something similiar automatically... but I doubt it.

Exactly what I plan to do. If it rocks, I may eventually remove Win7 altogether.
Win 10 is amazing... So far.
I am going to switch to Win10 on my gaming PC eventually but at the moment I see no need for it. When I do, then it'll be a clean install on a new machine instead of an upgrade of an old system.

We did try it once, and even with aim assist the console players couldn't keep up with the speed and accuracy of the mouse =P
If it really does look better on W10 then it would be because of DirectX. I'd test it, but I'm using the same Nvidia drivers so I doubt if I would actually see any difference since all the extra effects were likely already being forced into the game.
Well, as far as I'm concerned, you can have that spyware freeware piece of malicious trash.
There's a reason why malware is free. And there's a reason why Win10 is free.
