Hakkon Drop Rates:

1st: 15%

2nd: 7.5%

3rd: 5%

4th: 2%

5th: 2%

Now, I've heard and read about the "salvaging" of these weapons in an attempt to increase the chance of getting a specific Hakkon weapon.

When you have 0 Hakkon weapons you have a 15% chance that 1/5 will drop.

The individual chance of each item dropping is calculated like this:

15% = 0.15

1/5 = 0.20

0.15 * 0.20 = 0.03 = 3% that you will get a specific weapon

When you have 1 Hakkon weapons you have a 7.5% chance that 1/4 will drop.

0.075 * 0.25 = 0.01875 = 1.875% that you will get a specific weapon

When you have 2 Hakkon weapons you have a 5% chance that 1/3 will drop.

0.05 * 0.33 = 0.0165 = 1.65% that you will get a specific weapon

When you have 3 Hakkon weapons you have a 2% chance that 1/2 will drop.

0.02 * 0.5 = 1.0% that you will get a specific weapon

When you have 4 Hakkon weapons you have a 2% chance that 1/1 will drop.

0.02 * 1 = 0.02 = 2.0% that you will get a specific weapon

Do what you will with this information.

Quick takeaway: Do not salvage if you have 2 Hakkon weapons or 4 Hakkon weapons. 1 and 3...maybe?

In my opinion its best to keep your Hakkon weapons, even if you would prefer others. By doing this you have removed them from your loot table. Once you have all of them feel free to salvage one if you wish to hope for better base damage.

Too late! Lol

The gambler is in the house and Im having fun with my Hakkon roulette... Not really trying for a specific item perse either. I used perfectly good items to get my Hakkon's and Ive enjoyed farming for the higher base dmg versions and actually getting to play with the bow which had eluded me for 50 or more Dragons until I salvaged.

By all means though I think most players are way more risk averse than I am. My only worry is that my friends will get tired of farming Dragons before I regain most or all of the Hakkon weps. Definately this process is not for the faint of heart. Lol

Ugh, this is almsot physically nauseating.  While the mathematical explanation why I haven't seen another Hakky drop after the third is bad enough, the idea that people are salvaging Hakky weapons is horrifying.

I think 25% or higher for 0 hakkon weapon, if I have 0 hakkon weapon, i got 1 from 1-5 NM runs. it's not enough for statistics but so far:

4 longswords

2 staves

*2 greatswords

1 dagger

*1 bow

last bow and greatsword i keep;  and the least useful hakkon weapon (longsword) dropped a lot for me.

You're telling me.  I played with that crazy Kissraven guy when he got 2 honor swords and a dagger in nearly back-to-back-to-back games.. he salvaged all of them right on the spot.  I died a little bit inside each time he salvaged the honor sword (the weapon I wanted most but didn't have at that time). lol. ;)

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you from my personal experience.  I am ridiculed to this day by my friends for doing it (obviously its all in good fun though)  I can't even tell you how many Hakkon weapons I have salvaged, but it was weapon after weapon after weapon until I got the 172 dagger (the highest base damage dagger you can get) and I kept that one of course.  Hakkon weapons were dropping like candy and I continued salvaging.

I now have every Hakkon weapon except the staff and they are all the highest damage or within 1-2 damage of max.  I have played sooooooooo many NM runs and it was bad enough getting the 4th, but I still don't have the 5th.

Of course I didn't care about a "specific" weapon.  Your way is vastly superior for that, but just the drop rate for the last 2 is brutal with my personal RNG luck.  I wouldn't wish this drop rate on my enemy, but I also feel there should be equipment in the game for dedicated fans.  Only almost everyone I see has one :).  Still I'm happy with everything.  The staff will be mine soon enough, I'm just getting punished for salvaging 3-4 of them :P

In closing, because of how brutal the RNG gods are to me there is no way I would salvage #4 or #5 ever.  Even if they give me the lowest damage stat we will call it "even"  No way I'm salvaging it.  It's probably because of my personal luck though.  I'm sure your way will work for many people.

Also thanks to Piffle's excellent thread in the weapon section

Hakkon's Honor (1h sword): 224 - 233

Hakkon's Mercy (dagger): 166 - 172

Hakkon's Valor (2h sword): 311 - 324

Hakkon's Wisdom (staff): 87 - 89

Hakkon's Wrath (bow): 187 - 193

That drop rate doesn't apply to me since I got my 4th and 5th back to back..

if you're attempting to get a complete set of max damage items, sitting at 0 until you get a max damage item was smart. That 15% chance makes it somewhat sensible.

if you have two weapons though, your chance at a 3rd isn't impacted much. I would probably hang onto it until you get the third. Once you get the third, you can decide which you would prefer to salvage if both aren't the desired item or not of the max damage variety.

Once you have 3 desired items or 3 max damage weapons...you're stuck with that 2% chance regardless. Personally I would keep the 4th just to have it while waiting on the 5th. Like the scenario described when waiting on the third you can then decide which item you wish to attempt to get a max roll with first.

Actually what is really nauseating are things like Dragon Racer not having a SHOK ring or many others, some players with over 1,000 hours and 2.5mil spent not having a Caliban or Thunderstrike or other purple item. In my case it was very frustrating that when I did get an adult Caliban it was after I already had gotten a baby one, the Dragon sword, the Hakkon sword, and the Bitter axe. It's also sad that I may never really play with my Caliban since it also rolled with the lowest damage.

With the Hakkon weapons at least I have some control on how I get them, and which ones I keep or like to use the most. At 15% it can still take time to get a specific weapon or the higher base damage version, but for me personally it's more fun knowing I'm probably not doomed to 50 or 100 or even 200 runs with no weapon. Because of salvaging my Hakkon's. I have now played with 4 of them and I know that for me I really like the dagger and bow the best. All of the weapons are great for the 100% CD, and while I still have not played with the staff I will gladly keep the 1st weapon I get with the highest base dmg.

I'd say sorry buddy, but you finally got the sword and you had more luck to begin with on getting your 4th.  :P

I've gotten 8 SHOK (and feel bad everytime I scrap them now) and 11 Griffon bows but never Caliban. I was sure it would drop after they brought out new weapons and I didn't want it any more but it hasn't. The RNG Gods are cruel and fickle creatures.

My 2nd Hakkon was the 1H sword.

I instantly salvaged it and was rewarded 5 clears later with the dagger.

30 clears later and I don't have my 3rd.

5% is cruel.

A friend of mine got his 3rd and 4th with in 3 games and after 25 clears.

I really, really want the Bow!

Oh and 1.7M spent yet no Sulevin nor a 200hp belt :(

Look, all those numbers make no sense at all.

We all know the probability to get a weapon/item is directly proportional to how much you want it.

Look at DragonRacer, she really really really wants a HoK ring, thus her chances are 1/10000000000....000 of getting it. The only possible way she's gonna get it is if someone at Bioware craft a chest with a 100% drop rate. Even then, I'm sure RNGesus will see there have been an error and will correct it on the fly!!!

Yea, I think he likes to put on too much decorative padding on his weapons. Too much showmanship not enough sharp edges...

I thought this was true, but even though I stopped wanting Caliban since the Dragon weapons came out but it still hasn't dropped. Maybe if you wish for it too hard for too long it disappears from the loot table altogether?
