This whole dungeon vibe seems to indicate that this is another grind-fest DLC where you have some cool game features with some story bits to satisfy but nothing much after.
Hopefully I'm wrong.
I'm glad we got DLC... just hoping it's not just another Hakkon.
Look, they're billing it as a dungeon. It's a dungeon crawl. It's a great big dungeon crawl.
That means there will be combat.
They're limited with what they can do in in-line DLC. They can't change the plot of the game because there's no telling when the player will do the DLC, or even if they will, so if you're looking for major in-game relevance, you're going to be disappointed. There seems to be a plot - stop the tremors that are opening up holes in the ground - but my guess is that it's going to be like JoH where you get the War Table operation to open the area and head out when you consider yourself sufficiently leveled to survive it.
But none of that means that there won't be a story. From the look of it, we'll be meeting two new characters, too. I wonder if, like JoH, you can return to the area after you're completed the DLC. I often miss things on my first trip through an area, so I like having the ability to go back later and look around or whatever.
JoH wasn't terrible. It was a nice self-contained adventure with pretty scenery, decent loot, and a fresh look at a culture we've been hearing about since Origins. The overarching story - the quest for Ameridan - sometimes got lost among the warring Avvar tribes, unnaturally aggressive poisonous spiders, and parrots, but it wasn't a bad story, as far as that went. I got more out of it on my second playthrough than I did on my first.
