That was awesome! I loved JOH and this looks just as amazing! And at the end, was that thing a Rock Wraith like in DA2?

You haven't played it and you clearly don't understand what the "mandate" of the Inquistion is, which is probably why you are confused/wrong.
well if BW sticks to the lore, it's go into deep roads, fight darkspawn, die hideously of the taint.

Good point actually. HOW are they going to not get tainted? Then again all of your companions in DAO minus Alistair and Loghain should have been ghouls by the end (with the minor exception of Shale and possibly Wynne), especially Zevran.

Dealing with Darkspawn is not their mandate though. It's the Wardens mandate...
If not a single person in there get's blighted then we know that Bioware doesn't care about it's own lore.
I did liked the quote you'r using, and also going to like your post after I post this one. You'r absolutely right, without the ritual of the Grey Wardens the risk of becoming tainted is kind of big. Certainly when battling through hordes of darkspawn, and traveling in to the places they live makes that a necessity. I also hope some of the companions can (will?) get the taint. If that's the case, I'll bring Vivienne, somehow can't stand the attitude of that woman ![]()
Although the mandate of the Inquisition does cover battling Darkspawn, it's for sure the Grey Wardens are much more efficient and better equipped for it. They have much more experience with it, can't get tainted any more then they already are, and can sense those buggers before they can see them.

While I doubt anyone's going to die of the taint (remember DAO....there were ONLY two Grey Wardens in the whole party), I sure am glad they're back onto darkspawn. Didn't like Inquisition much, but can't wait for this. Hope it answers stuff.

Just gonna say that I believe that the Original game of Origins had the player's party getting tainted and needing to become wardens, or something. Off-topic though, can't wait myself for this. Just made a male dwarf rogue and glad I did.

I will somewhat disappointed if we don't at least come across some Old God stuff in the Descent, but the return of the Darkspawn and potential new Blight/Profane lore will make up for it.

Back in Origins, I was never impressed with the odd dichotomy between the alleged deadliness of the taint and the fact that our non-Warden companions are constantly up to their eyeballs in darkspawn guts and gore without any ill-effects whatsoever. Sadly, Bioware does this sort of thing a lot: give us a neat plot or character hook and then ignore it. So I don't expect any improvement on this issue.
I never bought JoH because it sounded like just another superfluous pseudo-"open world" zone, painfully light on story and completely devoid of companion interaction. Couldn't care less about combat or loot. So if this is more of the same, colour me unimpressed. I really hope we actually get to talk to our friends this time around.

JOH had a pretty heavy story and quite a few of your usually annoying quests, but it was an eye-opener especially for elf and spirit fans.

To be fair were there a disease system like in Morrowind it would get pretty tiresome having to travel to "X" location to get "X" character cured of taint or else "X" character dies or some such...and having this instance popping up as a personal quest every time a party member gets it would wear the appeal off pretty quickly.

It's called "The Descent", and it looks like it might finally deal with Kal-Sharok.
My hope for this DLC is that it has some time progression involved. Meaning, I hope it's set months after the end of the game. And I hope the companion characters have progressed in their own storylines.
Blackwall should be a Grey Warden by now (if made to take the Joining). And he should or should not be available based on where the Wardens decide to appoint him. Vivienne or Cassandra should be Divine by now, and thus unavailable, unless the situation calls for the Divine being there for some important reason.
I would say Iron Bull should be back with the Qunari, but the trailer shows that he's still there. So is Dorian, who I can see wanting to stick around since there's not much for him to do in Tevinter right now.
Varric should have left already to meet up with Hawke, or go back to Kirkwall, or whatever he said he was going to do next. The trailer looks like it might feature Bianca though, so if that's the case, it might be good to have Varric optional for this mission as well.
Sera and Cole stayed with me, so I don't know if there are any other options for them. And obviously Solas should be gone.
My other hope is that this quest ends with us discovering Razikale, the Dragon of Mystery, and perhaps conversing with it.
And finally, a wish...

It's not a post game DLC and can be played anytime after Skyhold like JOH.

Hate to break it to ya, but there was almost something like that in origins with companions needed to take the joining after the landsmeet. At least it did not get in, huh?

Dutch ghost will be the next in my friend list his topic are the best the more vivid.
Regarding this Dlc i have only to say that if it is full of massive fetch quest like the whole game,i will not touch it,i already dislike the fetch quests, but do them into the deep roads would be the true nightmare.

Totally different, what I am/was referencing was a "disease mechanic" similar to the ones in the Elder Scrolls game Morrowind - specifically the Divayth Fyr quest that involves curing the Nerevarine of the Corprus Disease (which is a permanent ailment much like the taint/blight from DA) basically meaning every time your character contracts something they would need to have it cured or else die/impede the main quest.

Spoiler
Well, save for Solas, you can get all of the companions to stick around. Bull and Dorian chose to stay and I made Leliana Divine. Dunno what Vivienne intends to do, but I don't suppose I care all that much.
I'd love for Sigrun to return, but she can be either killed by the Warden, or go off on her own to die in the Deep Roads.

She can be killed off?
And anyway, she's not in the Keep, so she probably won't be in it.

I wonder if playing the DLC after dealing with the Wardens at Adamant will influence the quests or the dialogues...

If they can't be arsed to actually support a premise/plot hook like that, then they shouldn't put it in at all. That is what bugs me. As I said, they do this all the time, and it's dispiriting to get excited about a "hook" only to realize it is actually nothing more than yet another red herring that never goes anywhere. Consistency and depth matter more to me than simple convenience or trying to distract me with more "epic" combat or "epic" loot.
JOH had a pretty heavy story and quite a few of your usually annoying quests, but it was an eye-opener especially for elf and spirit fans.
How much is story and how much is the less than stellar gameplay and "filler" content, though? (Plus, I play a tank which gets the short end of the stick in terms of gameplay anyway yet JoH specifically made it worse from what I heard.) And how involved am I in the story, especially if I can't even talk to anyone about it? What I heard sounded more like an "are you impressed by these oh-so-k3wl NPCs yet" sightseeing tour akin to the whole Temple of Mythal/Morrigan/Flemeth endgame which I really disliked for a variety of reasons.
Yeah, I know I'm crabby. As much as I enjoy Inquisition, it is also a letdown on several levels, and I'm highly skeptical that this or future DLCs will remedy that. What I crave is a more personal sense of involvement in the story, more depth to said story, as well as more, and more meaningful, companion interaction. The way both this and JoH is/was promoted doesn't mention any of that. I'd love to be proven wrong, but I'm not holding my breath.

I did not expect a DLC annoucement, especially not a Deep Roads/Darkspawn DLC announcement.

How do you know? Have you played it? Are you from the future or did you pull that opinion out of thin air?
Because I think you pulled that opinion out of thin air.
I wonder on how the old gen players will feel about this.
Seeing as they can't play it. Not a lot.
