Cool, should be hilarious having Blackwall in your party BSing his way through the deep roads (pre-revelations).

How much is story and how much is the less than stellar gameplay and "filler" content, though? (Plus, I play a tank which gets the short end of the stick in terms of gameplay anyway yet JoH specifically made it worse from what I heard.) And how involved am I in the story, especially if I can't even talk to anyone about it? What I heard sounded more like an "are you impressed by these oh-so-k3wl NPCs yet" sightseeing tour akin to the whole Temple of Mythal/Morrigan/Flemeth endgame which I really disliked for a variety of reasons.

Yeah, I know I'm crabby. As much as I enjoy Inquisition, it is also a letdown on several levels, and I'm highly skeptical that this or future DLCs will remedy that. What I crave is a more personal sense of involvement in the story, more depth to said story, as well as more, and more meaningful, companion interaction. The way both this and JoH is/was promoted doesn't mention any of that. I'd love to be proven wrong, but I'm not holding my breath.

It's hard to explain. There isn't any real filler to it. All the quests lead up to the main one mostly. Especially when you have to earn the friendship of the Avaar. They aid you in the main fight. Basically as you go through each quest, you learn more about the main quest story of the DLC as well as discover new things about spirits, the Forgotten Ones, one of the OG is female, and why the Dalish are scorned. I think the only pointless part of it was the shards and the bug quest, but it does help keep the pests away.

Playing a Dalish Inquisitor can really make you feel the story, especially if you romanced Solas, and things like Cass and her Seeker decisions can also be carried over to JOH when you talk to Ameridan.

If they can't be arsed to actually support a premise/plot hook like that, then they shouldn't put it in at all. That is what bugs me. As I said, they do this all the time, and it's dispiriting to get excited about a "hook" only to realize it is actually nothing more than yet another red herring that never goes anywhere. Consistency and depth matter more to me than simple convenience or trying to distract me with more "epic" combat or "epic" loot.

For what it's worth, this sounds like it's going to be quite a bit more linear than Hakkon, meaning there's no need to worry about filler content and the focus will probably largely be on the actual plot.

Seeing as they can't play it. Not a lot.

Lol.

Au Contraire mate, because they cannot play it, I'm betting they will feel more strongly about it than anyone else.

Good point actually. HOW are they going to not get tainted? Then again all of your companions in DAO minus Alistair and Loghain should have been ghouls by the end (with the minor exception of Shale and possibly Wynne), especially Zevran.

I was always under the impression that the taint was contagious, but not the extreme extent some people think it is. I mean, if a mere drop of blood can turn you ghoul the world would have been overrun some blights ago...I see it as many zombie-movies...where the characters always run around in tank-tops, slaughter zeds and are drenched in blood, often in their face (eye-sockets, open wounds/scratches etc)...and as long as the plot preserves them they won't turn...

I think Wesley was tainted when his sword arm was injured, and he became a ghoul in less than an hour. Also if you spare The Architect in the epilogue it says that Darkspawn hidden in cloaks tried to aid travelers but the travelers got sick due to the taint.

Back in Origins, I was never impressed with the odd dichotomy between the alleged deadliness of the taint and the fact that our non-Warden companions are constantly up to their eyeballs in darkspawn guts and gore without any ill-effects whatsoever.

In Hushed Whispers hinted that Leliana was tainted during the Blight, but had developed a resistance to it. In fact, I wouldn't dismiss the possibility of non-Warden Veterans of the fifth Blight (Leliana, Zev, Arishok Sten, perhaps Teagan) starting to "hear the song" as the sixth grows closer.

How do you know? Have you played it? Are you from the future or did you pull that opinion out of thin air?

Because I think you pulled that opinion out of thin air.

Seeing as they can't play it. Not a lot.

-Well given the Bioware trends let's just say that i'm not optimistic anymore

-That was the point if this will be an interesting Dlc they will be even more disappointed.

Maybe the mark will stop  the pc from getting tainted since he/she/it is more magic then anything else now depending on when the dlc takes placee

Dealing with Darkspawn is not their mandate though. It's the Wardens mandate...

If not a single person in there get's blighted then we know that Bioware doesn't care about it's own lore.

well the wardens are either allied with the inquisition or exiled so either way the inquisition has a reason to do this as either way the wardens are not capable of doing this alone

me I hope this end with us finding the hof and the architect and ties up a few of those lose ends or at the very least lead us to find out what the hof is up to down in the deeproads as that is where we know he/she is

Well, considering the architect and the HoF could be "dead"/"killed", I doubt they would be in this.

Wrong.

World= all threats.

The last 2 guy the quis had to face was a Darkspawn and spirit dragon god.

The Inquisition was original formed to deal with blood mages. The threat of Darkspawn is the mandate of the warden. This is undisputed fact!

It's not like an organization has never gone outside the scope of its original purpose.

The Warden-Commander of Ferelden is alive, whether s/he's the HoF or the Orlesian replacement*, and since the Architect is supposed to be similar to Cory, he could very well be reborn through a Warden's body.

* And I, once again marvel at Bioware's Writers continuing to write storylines that should involve the Warden despite their stated desire to not bring the character back.

I wonder if we'll see a Titan?

And wow that Darkspawn Emissary was LARGE! .... but other than size it was still looked too "plain" to me a magister darkspawn

I wonder if this could potentially be the location of the Old God in the Western Approach:

wow, Great find. Too bad the note isn't dated. I assume it happened a couple of years before the events of the game.

I'm here to whine and complain and point out that us last gen owners won't get to play this. It was hard enough to know we would miss something, but knowing we're missing this?

That place has been haunting me since I found it! I hear the weird sounds that only start up near it, as well as the other way into it from the other side by the quarry. And then you get a landmark stating how the ground still trembles. I really hope it's connected to this DLC (even though before the DLC, it was just a giant teaser)! Harding even says something feels off about the place, then you see the famous 2nd Blight's destruction still poisoning the place in the distance.

Well, the place is right on top of an old god prison, with a sleeping archdemon-to-be right beneath your feet.

I know! Lol I jumped down there so many times to see what's hidden, but it's just rocks and a weird red glow. I like the other entrance to it with the skeleton. Feels ominous. You hear that same creaking sound that's heard when you walk to the mine.
