Who's to say that one of the 3 possible mage companions you know like Solas, Vivienne or Dorian couldn't do the same thing in place of a mage Inq?

Because you don't have to have a mage in your party.

Because you don't have to have a mage in your party.

So they merely showcased a mage, there are variables in place for such a thing.

It's not implausible. I know that some will mention Kal-Sharok's distance from Ferelden and Orlais, but don't forget that there is contact from Kal-Sharok dwarves on the War Map. It is an available War Map mission.

So like I said, they either made three different cutscenes or it's just a trailer.

I'm sure we'll find out on Tuesday anyway :)

I would love to see a kal-sharok connection and perhaps some hof and architect story as well. I think this dlc has the potential to be a great addition to the game if the story is good.

Architect would be great, even if it was just a hint that he was back. I doubt BW are going to do anything more about the HoF apart from tiny cameos like the letters in DA:I, it's just too messy.

So the mmo style whack fest continues, with more gigantic enemies. Am I the only one who thinks gigantic enemies are childish? why would that be cool, intimidation should be brought from elsewhere. Not making every bad boss a hulking giant.

I partly agree. Things like Ogres, Dragons, even the Profane should be big, but the Tevinter Magister sub-bosses in places like the Hissing Wastes and Western Approach were like 8 foot tall, even to the point where they tower over their Venatori soldiers. Monsters should be big, human enemies shouldn't be abnormally large just to show that they're stronger than their peons. It was pretty immersion breaking for me.

Fans say "jump" and Bioware asks "how high?"

We said "give us more Scout Harding" and Bioware gave us more Scout Harding.

Fans complained there was a lack of Dwarves in Inquisition, and here we go, more dwarves DLC.

You can't pretend this isn't pandering.

It would be nice if the DLC referenced the Kal-Sharok War Map mission chain if you had done it.

If my memory serves right it ends with Kal-Sharok open to a possible alliance with the Inquisition or you muck it up and they stay away from you.

To me that looks like Legion of the Dead armour.

Though Kal-Sharok may have it's own Legion of the Dead, since they were cut off after Caridin.

I suspect we're merely looking at ghoulified former Legionnaires.

Though it would be interesting to hear from Kal-Sharok, I'm skeptical.

The Deep Roads are much more familiar than the Avvar and their culture for me. For some reason the Avvar just didn't have any pizzazz.

As excited as I am for an opportunity to revisit the Deep Roads in a significant way, I disagree with you about the Avvar. I enjoyed seeing that glimpse into their world during Jaws of Hakkon, and it was long overdue! Of my seventeen runs through Inquisition, I have two dwarven Inquisitors in stages of the game that I'm hoping to completely run through JoH before next Tuesday, just so that they are ready to hit those subterranean caverns.

17 play-through's! I feel sorely inadequate.  ;)

I played through five full times and stopped with 100% cheivo. The sun set on the game for me then until this new DLC. Either you have an extraordinary love for the game or a lot of time. I'd probably say both. No insult-truly a little jealous!

I wasn't trying to bash the Avvar, they just felt generic in a sense. And somewhat convenient. I know they were greatly connected to Andraste but they ended up to easily attached, too neatly to spirits and respectively turning God's with a big G to little g's. Something I think is too prevalent in the game.

They did however bring some levity to the DLC with their customs and amorous leader!

It's a civilization thing for me. The deep roads have a classic D&D element I have played since Ultima 1 on PC ages ago. The dwarves also seem connected to many chances of an ancient advancement and further advancement of Thedas technologically and economically. Much like the Qunari having gatlok and other advancements it gives some hope that beyond a Dragon Age there may be some growth for the IP.

If we have to regress to go forward; then fine. But I would hope we don't keep going backwards forgetting to move forwards. Sounds odd I know!

I'm hoping what is in the Descent helps us move forward beyond Warden's, darkspawn and old solutions to old problems. Part of what made me hopeful for Inquisition was the open ended non-believer was finally more available-making progress seem like it was forefront. The Kal-Sharok natives are supposed to challenge what we know of the Warden's from what I've read. I'm hoping they do.

This seems more likely..

Heidrun: Amrun, a member of the Legion of the Dead, has written about an encounter deep in an old mineshaft beneath the thaig, down which he and his men had chased an emissary. Their fight awoke an ancient rock wraith, which killed the darkspawn and collapsed the tunnel.

Maybe.

Everyone slow down about the Magequisitor lighting the place up. She's just casting Firewall. It's probably just gameplay. Sorry.

There has been a lot of stuff (some really easy to implement, some not so much) that Bioware has completely ignored. So I'm just going to assume they're doing what they want, and some of it happens to be what others want, naturally.

Oh, good business is pandering now, is it? Seriously, what's wrong with building the things that your fans actually want to see?

By Odin's magnificent beard, not this again. Dragon Age is the story of the Blight. Making it yet another fantasy kitchen sink is in fact dumbing it down and making it like any other fantasy series that has been going too long. You either end your story when you initially planned to, or you see your story become generic uninteresting trash.

That just isn't true. Only the very end of the game dealt with the Blight. For everything before that point, the Blight were the zombies in their movies: Scary and will kill you if they catch you, but ultimately the drama was with the survivors and their response to Zom-Blight.

I'm not sure what you are actually commenting on in my post? Perhaps the Warden's comment?

Is this game not a fantasy series? I am at a loss here. If Bioware/Dragon Age plan to let the series die on the vine with solving only the blight then they have surely wasted everything else about Thedas. Origins was the story of The Blight; a blight. And what story are you speaking of ending? The Fade? The Blight? The Maker's absence? The Elven oppression? The dwarven kingdom fading into obscurity? Red lyrium tainting all lyrium? Minrathous becoming a force again? The Qunari taking over Thedas? Spirits stepping into existence in the real world (ala Cole)?

I think you can see where I am going with this. Either there is more story here that I have experienced worth moving forward or maybe somewhere you decided a single plot device defined Thedas. I have had my own qualms with the series but I come back each new event regardless. Because what Gaider and Co. started has potential to keep going. Beyond the blight; beyond even Gaider.

So, you're fine with moving forward for the sake of moving forward? Introducing yet another generic bad guy with each iteration? No build up to some grand finale that gives us answers to how this world really works, why all this happened? Just more villain after villain to mow through, never giving answers because those might limit what future plots they can tell?

If you want that trash, go watch a TV show. I prefer a 26 episode anime that has decided which story it wants to tell, tells it, and then just stops, because they feel no need to exploit the IP for all it is worth. They told a worthwhile story, that you'll remember, instead of having to say: oh, that show really went downhill after season 2.

You're defeating your own argument. The world could not perpetually be Blighted: There would be no cities, towns, or anything if darkspawn (who by definition destroy everything so much things don't even grow anymore) just rampaged, literally, everywhere. You would never get the things you're claiming if the world was nothing but darkspawn.

I think you don't understand marketing, or in fact, the actual world.

Further, the goal of a product like this is to make money. If the people want more, you have to give it to them.

I watched BioFan's analysis and he pointed out something interesting. It looks like the armor in question may be inlaid with something. The speculation was lyrium, but it did glow in the dark. Also, closer look at the sigil on the genlock it's not the exact same as the Legion though it is similar.

And I'm suddenly glad Cullen isn't a companion for this one. It would be bad with all that blue glow around.
