I'm not sure if it's ever mentioned in DA:I, but how exactly did the Chantry get past The Guardian?

Did he take the rest of the ashes and left? What about Maferath's spirit and The Gauntlet?

It seems unfair that HoF had to go through all that trouble to get to the ashes, with slaying the dragon and all, and when the rest of the Chantry went there, they found the door wide open with no guardians to test them. I was actually looking forward to be hearing about some pilgrim dying in the Gauntlet.

The Guardian is in London.

More seriously, he probably left once HoF passed the trials.

DA:I ignores several alterations to the ending of the Ashes from DA:O. I don't thinl Kolgrim or the dragon is ever mentioned if it/or both were still alive.

Hell, I don't even think the Ashes themselves were even mentioned. You'd think the Holy Grail of Thedas getting obliterated would incite some sort of reaction...

The Keep narration says the Ashes disappeared at some point before the Conclave, probably before the Chantry arrived.  The Guardian probably took them away.

Quite possible he and the ashes only appear to those considered worthy... and most of the human nobles using Haven as a vacation site and the vainglorious power hungry Chantry officials like Roderick  would not be worthy and by the time a worthy person (Quizzy and co) arrive the Temple is destroyed by Corypheus

I'm guessing he took the ashes and left when he heard it was going to be opened to the public and as Alistair implied, there wouldn't be enough of Andraste to go around lol

There are some War Table missions regarding the Cult of Andraste

And if you play Multiplayer, you will hear Tamar (Reaver) say: "Kolgrim would turn around in his grave." meaning she was once part of the Cult of Andraste.

To quote the wiki:

Tamar is a fearsome warrior. She developed her abilities by consuming dragon blood. One of the cultists living in Haven, she escaped the Chantry by fleeing into the mountains. Tamar was later captured by agents of the Inquisition and was given a choice: to serve or die. Execution in captivity would have been shameful. She'd rather die in battle; the blood of her enemies on her sword and a warcry on her lips.

I think it is said he and the ashes had vanished by the time the Chantry came to investigate.

Or the Guardian saw what was coming and moved the Ashes to a new location.

I believe it's implied, if not outright stated, that the Guardian removed the Ashes from the temple and took them to parts unknown.

Killed Kolgrim on every playthrough after I unlocked the Reaver class. Good question about the Guardian though. I mean...at the end of Origins, it only says the temple was destroyed and the dragon peaced out(if you didn't kill her)and that the ashes are missing...but I'm assuming they fixed it back up since that is where the Conclave is. Since he is a spirit maybe he took her ashes and fled as well?

...ehh...i got nothing. string theory like a mug.

Personally, I'm not convinced that Flemeth didn't have a hand in it either. I mean she's been on the loose for ten years, preparing for the next move. Why exactly wouldn't she be involved in some way, given that she's had a hand in almost every major event of Thedas's history?

No, what I mean is, the Guardian may have anticipated the destruction of Haven and moved the Ashes before they could be destroyed.

I thought The Guardian is not a spirit. He lives a very long life because the mountain is full of lyrium. If he left, wouldn't he just drop dead?

You're assuming there's No Ontological Inertia — his existence ceases the moment he leaves the temple. But why would it necessarily work that way?

Also, if the Disciples could turn themselves in Ash Wraiths by burning themselves in sacrificial flames, then why couldn't he have achieved something similar? Who's to say he wasn't granted immortality by the Maker?

Hmm.... Then maybe the guardian is merged with faith spirit. That would make a lot of sense.

Or he is something like Cole. A Spirit who made themselves live in the mortal world. Perhaps a Spirit of Purpose (one of the Spirits Solas mentions) whose job it is to protect and dispense the Ashes.
