Just wondering? This time if the single player DLC will be story drivin with party banter and interactions or will it be just another lifeless slog fest like every area and the Jaws of Hakkon DLC?
So will the Desent DLC actualy have story?

^This thoughwell if that was your impression of Hakkon then it's likely not to have a story as you think of it

It'll probably have story in the same style Jaws of Hakkon had story. Which is to say most will be told through codex entries and a couple of cutscenes.

But it wasn't written or developed by the DA team, so vary your expectations accordingly (I wouldn't be surprised if the two dwarves from the trailer handle all the exposition, with the rest of the party only there for combat).

Why would the Mass Effect team write a DLC for DA:I ?

It was apparently mostly produced by the Bioware Austin Team actually, the team behind SWTOR. Apparently this was what Shadow Realms was canceled for.

That would be disappointing.
I am hoping that Descent will amend DAI's mistakes like Legacy did for DA2.

I'd wait for the next (last) DLC, then. That's what the DA team has been working on since Jaws.I am hoping that Descent will amend DAI's mistakes like Legacy did for DA2.
I don't think an outsourced DLC is going to offer much in the way of substantive narrative or really correct design issues that were present in the main game (especially since it's being advertised as something of a linear dungeon crawl).

No. Your party will stumble onto a fissure in the Deep Roads and just decide to go exploring. You do nothing but fight darkspawn for 10+ hours. Nobody talks to each other or discovers anything interesting. In fact, you never come back up. You only.....descend.

I guess I'm one of the few who found the JOH story rather revealing despite the means it took to discover it. I'm hoping the secrets we're going to discover in the Deep Roads have a similar impact.

I'm certain the DLC will consist of a long series of rooms with 1-6 darkspawn in each, culminating in a final screen that reads "A WINNER IS YOU!"

But, for instance, we never even meet the leader of the Jaws outside of his Revenant form and his entire backstory is told through codex entries.
That is weak writing.

I agree with this, it would've been nice to actually see the Cult leader of the Jaws of Hakkon before he went Revenant

We do actually see him briefly right when you get to Stone-Bear Hold. He's talking with Svarah. You can approach him and he says something like "Not my hold, so you're safe from me for now." Granted it's not an extended conversation, but we do see him before he goes Revenant.

Nah, that will probably happen in the last dlc.

Well I wouldn't really except a conversation with him, but as soon as we entered that room he immediately turned into a Revenant. A cutscene of him doing the ritual would've been nice

I did like JOH but you couldn't talk to your party other than in cut-scenes. Couldn't pop to skyhold and bring up the area or anything for that matter.
I think really they need to add in some more interactions with your companions.
I miss the fact that in DAO you could stop and talk to companions, didn't have to go to skyhold for it. But for anyone (most of us) playing this after the story has ended, we wont even be able to do that.

Unlike JOH I see this DLC best playable after we meet Bianca for some reason and after the Warden quest is done, but before the Ball. I always play JOH after the game ends because of the required level, but this one won't have that thankfully.

eh Im not going to have to re-play JOH etc to go play this first, so I'll probably be over levelled for it anyway unless i play it on a NEW character. But I prefer to keep my handful.

Spoiler
Well, there's Wynne in DA:O, so it's not actually much of a reveal of anything. It's cool a whole culture does it, but it's not earth-shattering.

I wish those things could help in the support of spirits and humans together, but it seems what Anders/Justice did pushed the chance for mage acceptance right off a cliff. And I remember my Warden telling Wynne that if she remembers her humanity she's not an abomination. Sad it never got spread to others. I'm sure the Chantry planned for it to get worse for mages despite the proof they can be fine and not all are bad.
I always lean toward Viv being Divine just because she's a mage who was never tempted to take the dark path and now has the Chantry wrapped around her finger, as well as the mages and Templars.

I felt like major things in JOH got completely swept under the rug and no one really commented on it at all.

Lol I mentioned it in my spoiler a few posts above. That part was big for me.
