Just tested the DM client and it works fine for me.
Hmm interesting... I must be having another issue then.

Just hoping the same thing for NWN in the context of online gaming, and the artistry bioware, and atari, and WotC gave to their players at that time, and into the future. Cheers to it running on Windows 10, and beyond.
if someone have issue with the hdmi output with the new nvidia drivers (game display bigger than the display at 1920x1080) i found another solution, you can resize the display/desktop size from nvidia control panel
(you can just resize it a little) and then select this new resolution in nwn and it will work (for instance 1920x1068 instead of 1080). look at this video for a tutorial i found on youtube on how change the resolution
*Update* I did finally get the DM client to work with Win 10. Not sure what changed (a windows update?) but it works now for me.
Havent yet tried NWN, but other games are working on win10 much better than under win8. For example League of Legends used to load very slowly and when I was opening shop or died it caused lag. This is all gone and game is loading on my low-end category laptop much faster than before. Also I all except one drivers were installed compared to 8 unkown devices undr 8/7. Overally its looking really great.
Of course a desktop user has to turn off all these phone craps and telemetry and use classicshell but Im using ClassicShell even on 7 to get some XP style features and to customize menu (i really hate the dropdown "al programs" list). But after some tweaking 10s looks really good.
Btw, anyone managed to get win7 or at least win8 sounds for win10? The new sounds are awful, I didnt really had problem with sounds on 8 but this is too unpleasant to my ears.
And how to turn of the transparency (aero?) on the main panel?

No matter what resolution I pick, the HD screen I am using auto detects the intended screen size on my pix shape control. If you are using a TV as a monitor, try the auto detect setting.
Windows 10 start panel transparency is set via Settings > Personalization > Color > Make... Transparent
So one interesting thing I noticed with the debug menu graphical issue I have is that anytime I want to see the mesh shape of something, like waving grass, I can just open the debug menu, and see which mesh parts are moving and which are not. Not as interesting as the debug mode on Dungeon siege, where you could get a full textured wireframe of the game while you played, but still, somewhat useful.

Thanks, its not that I wouldn't like it but again its low-end laptop so I expect these features are needlessly resource expensive.
One installation of NWN on a laptop with an Nvidia GeForce 860M worked fine under Win 8 and is now still working after transition to Win 10, only thing a bit quirky is getting it in focus and taking keyboard/mouse input after an alt-tab but one or a couple "Alt-F4" (then saying "No" when it prompts to exit) usually solve that. Resolution 1920*1080, fairly sure I had to edit the .ini for that but hey, needed to anyway to remove intro movies and make it play nice with windowed mode & so on.
The other installation on a desktop with a Radeon HD 7800 eventually worked fine under Win 7 Home Premium 64 bits (though IIRC I had to tweak it more than usual at first so it didn't crash on its face ALL. THE. TIME., it also really hated shiny water which made it stutter ridiculously for a game I ran first on something like a P450). It stopped working at some point before/during/after the transition to Win 10. But can't pinpoint why or when exactly since I just hadn't been using NWN on that machine for a while, and a full reinstallation + 1.69 critical rebuild got it back working. Resolution on that one is 1280*1024.
Both are in a directory OUT of program files or that couple other places later versions of Windows are a bit touchy about.
Version of the game is my old CDs from the french Deluxe Edition that included NWN + XP1 + XP2 but not the other couple premium modules I saw included in some later offers. So a bit younger than the original release but not by much.
I've had that alt tab issue since day one of NWN diamond disc. Very annoying. I often run NWN back to back while testing stuff. If I have GMAX open, max will lose draw surface control at a random time. I could play for 5 minutes in NWN and suddenly max summons me out of the game. After that, I lose control of the NWN surfaces and have to alt tab a few times to get it working again.
Regarding this alt tab issue...
I've found out that clicking the mouse several times (perhaps one is enough, but I always do it a few times) when the game is getting in focus (I'm talking the period when the screen is black and the game itself hasn't popped in yet) prevents this issue from happening.
Try it yourselves, maybe it's just me. ![]()
Clicking in the area of NWN, and pressing just the alt key, works to restore focus to it on older systems generally. Does that work for win 10 as well?
I've run into a issue, after upgrading to Windows 10, nwn disappeared from my PC. I reinstalled diamond edition from the discs patched it, added the CEP's and the PRC everything worked fine. I got 3/4 the way thru chapter 2 then all my files disappeared from the the directory. I reinstalled it again right before Thanksgiving came back a week later and it was gone again.
Sooo... several hours trying to understand why suddenly some placeables had missing textures. Of course I thought it was something I did, missed or changed just before I abandoned the project 1½ year ago. Looks like I ran into the non-patched diamond edition problem aswell. ARRRGHH!
But now it works like a charm! ![]()
I had problem running a copied version of the NWN on win 10 laptop. Its some owner issue that I wasnt able to fix, even take ownership didnt help, when I tried to run any exe it had no access to the rest files thus it didnt do anything or threw error that there is missing registry files.
I still don't know how to fix this, although I workarounded the issue via clean NWN reinstall, either way if someone knows how to fix this I would be grateful.
I'm still trying to figure out why debug mode turns off all textures except the character meshes. I don't know if there is a texture pathway getting blocked at the video card, or if there is a texture which isn't loading and crashing the rest of the draw loop. Anybody else have this yet?
I just got the neverwinter nights diamond game disc with the codes, got it all loaded and it won't run. Only gives me the message 'your app doesn't work with windows 10, and something about it harming my computer. I changed the compatiblitliy and ran the troubleshooter. Still no luck. Also tried several times to download the latest patch, but it won't load.
Any ideas? I love this game and really want to get it running again, but am frusterated that it is running into so many problems. I appreciate any help you can offer, thanks ![]()

have you tried applying the v.1.69 critical rebuild patch from the vault ? don't know if that's what you meant with 'latest patch'.
Today, I tried to install NWN Gold edition onto my Windows 10 Laptop, but the install process won't go further than the first disc while installing, when I switch discs, there's a popup saying "Setup Needs Next Disc / Please enter disc 2", and I can't go any further, since the second disc doesn't seem to be recognised.
I tried this on another computer with the same result.
Last month I got Win 10. Haven't been running NWN since then but today I did and was I surprised when I noticed that the texture pack was set to Compatibility Mode (16 meg). The other texture packs options were greyed out.
Not a huge problem, I can run the game and toolset fine, it just looks awful.
Any ideas?
Yeah, done all that. I also ran the the 1.69 critical rebuild patch. The issue remains.
Thanks for the suggestions, though. ![]()
Ok, problem solved. Here's how I did it:
In game I changed the video options from Best to Good. Closed the game. Then I went into nwn.ini and edited the line TexturePack=0 to TexturePack=3.
Problem solved.
I am having problems with my NWN complete for Win10, it will not let me load games, it will crash randomly and any sort of customized character comes out some weird silver color. Witch's Wake won't load at all. Whenever I check the Update box it says that it is in version 1.69. What can I do to fix this? I am a casual gamer and not an in depth computer guy so please go easy on me. Please help!
