Iron bull has no more dialog choices and I've done the Adamant dance and isn't gaining approval at all.
So um am I stuck in some weird quasi-romance that never ends or can be ended? Is the card changing line post Winter Palace Dance off supreme™ or...?
Also blackwall didn't offer up his tragic backstory VIA personal quest.

I feel your pain. I lost like, 28 hours in game going back because Blackwalls quest never triggered. Turns out I got all his Grey Warden fetch quest things without taking him along a single time, and that can cause a bug that blocks the quest.

As for Bull his eventually started but it took a long time. Have you killed a dragon yet?

Yep killed a dragon with bull. He calls me Kadan now but no safe word trigger which is apparently the card flag?
Also I haven't gotten all of blackwalls things but I've always taken him.
I thought blackwall's trigger was adamant flat and not his fetch quest. I...guess that solves that problem.

Bull's card didn't change for me (and I didn't get that safe word cutscene) until after What Pride Hath Wrought. If he calls you Kadan and you haven't seen that scene, you should probably head there.

Go out and kill some bad guys with him. I think he likes killing Venatori best. See if that boosts his approval a bit, then try talking to him back in Skyhold again.

Yes. I've hit it a few times with various characters, Bull included, and at that point you stop seeing approval messages until you do something of which they disapprove. I'm sorry I've never done his romance, though, so I can't help you there.

Okay sounds like approval is maxed out, then. You said in your first post that you did the Adamant dance. Does that mean you've done both Wicked Eyes, Wicked Hearts and Here Lies the Abyss? If not then I think you have to do them both, and if you have done them both, then... I'm not sure.

Also, when you killed the dragon did you get the cutscene where you share a drink with Bull and talk about what dragons mean to qun'ari? Whether romancing him or not, you're supposed to get that one the first time you kill a dragon together, but... when I did my Bull romance I had to kill a second dragon with him, and got that cutscene a second time. I thought it was bugged but I talked to him again right away and that's when the relationship advanced.

Nope I haven't touched the Winter Palace Dance. I only Tango'd With The Wardens I haven't Cha Cha'd with the Orlisans D: Wanted to finish southerland's questline because Dancing with the Pride Wraughters can bug him out apparently?

Okay, if you haven't done the Winter Palace thing yet, but Bull is calling you Kadan, then I'm pretty sure you're all right. You may have to kill another dragon with him though, like I did.

If you're romancing Bull, you need to kill ALL the dragons with him.

I do agree with this, heh. I can't remember if he comments on every fight, but I know he seems to get excited for a few in particular.

Which ones! I've only brought him along for the one in the Western Aproach.

Yeah, that's the Abyssal High Dragon. That's one for sure. I've had him comment on Vinsomer ( storm coast) and northern hunter ( Crestwood) and I'm pretty sure Kaltenzahn and/or Highland Ravager in Emprise du Lion. It's entirely possible that it's dependent on the party make-up as well?
