For me its a maxed manifest.  I take a Black Widow and put it on a GI.  I take a Crusader and put it on Edi (poop on the venom! j/p i love the venom too)  I take the PPR and put it on my favorite character...Destroyer.

 

Take a PPR and put it on a Destroyer add a dash of incendiary IV and a pinch of Adrenaline III.  You may wish to apply a rifle amp at your leisure.  Guaranteed to melt anything in seconds.

 

There are a lot of ways to be effective or even carry on plat, but its just about the fun for me.  9 times outta 10 I'm using the lancer or the saber because I love em.  Sometimes I want to blow stuff up with cain mines, sometimes I want to hit stuff with a sledgehammer, and sometimes I want to bring warp or dark channel to a gun/flamer fight.  Either way I'm always gettin it done.

 

When you get down to it, its all about map/spawn knowledge and how to play to your strengths.

Define the original intent of the meaning of effective, or how it correlates to MP...

 

for me, effective players...don't die often..or at all   ..either score #1-2   ...always help on objectives no matter what they are....shoot dragoons in the back with a claymore....I would say always revive downed teammates..but that is each persons individual judgement call
