He wrote Halo 4 before coming to Mass Effect.

Halo 4 is well loved by a lot of people, but some of his writing was a bit derivative in terms of sci-fi tropes.

Halo 4 is little loved at all by Halo fans, its widely considered ties as worst entry with Reach

that said there are those who like it, but I don't think it'd be too much of a stretch to consider them a minority, and I think even Reach still has more players in it than 4 does

Literally not possible.

Don't think so. Mainly because 90% of us don't want to see them again in any form. That would be like bringing the reapers to Andromeda, and make it Mass Effect 2.0, Andromeda edition.

I haven't played Halo 4 so I have no opinion on Chris Schlerf.

The other lead writer is John Dombrow. I liked most of his stuff from previous ME games, so I'm kind of stoked that he's now one of the lead writers.

If so, hopefully we'll be able to do something other than just assume their intent is villainous.

I hate how ME3 handled Cerberus, because they seemed to be making a lot of sense, but Shepard wasn't allowed to think so.

...you thought Cerberus made sense in ME3?

On their first mission in Andromeda the squad discovers an ancient ruin filled with technology left behind by the Remnant. While everyone is distracted, Lt. Harper suddendly shoots the krogan in the back and aims his gun at the rest.

"No one make a move!"

"Harper, are you mad?! What are you doing?"

Harper squints at you, "Mad? No, on the contrary. I see it very clearly. Our future. Humanity's future!... with this technology here we can become the dominant species in this galaxy!"

"Why? Why would you want that?"

Harper laughs sharply, "Because it's my legacy! I am destined to lead humanity to its apex!"

"What legacy are you talking about?"

"Cerberus, of course!", Harper smirks as he walks through the chamber, his pistol pointed steadily on you. "Many thought it died with my father, but ideas do not die. It will rise from the ashes like a phoenix, stronger and better than before!"

He picks up a glowing sphere from a nearby table and holds it to his eye, trying to figure out what it is. "With technology like this, we will be unstoppable! So... are you with me?"

"You are insane..."

"Insane? Insane?! You just can not see the big picture, this is--- ", Harper stops as pain suddendly flares up in his chest, looking down he's shocked to see a large blade penetrating him from behind. As his legs start to buckle under him and blood runs into his lungs, he looks back over his shoulder at the large synthetic warrior robot that stepped from the shadows. Vision becoming a dark tunnel, the last he sees is the blade crackling to life with electricity.

The squad watches in horror as the dead, twitching body impaled on the long, gleaming blade is ripped apart as the blade splits into two and expands. The massive robot crushes the skull with an easy step forward before incinerating the remains with long bursts of superhot plasma. The last of Cerberus is no more, gone completely, forever, no resurrection possible. He won't return as a phoenix.

The robot deftly picks up the energy globe and places it back on the table before turning to the rest of the squad.

"Uh... we are not with him?"

Staring at the squad for long seconds the robot reaches a decision and turns around, stepping back into its shadowy alcove and powering down.

That would be the only scenario in which I would want to see Cerberus in ME:A. :P

Not just no, but hell no.

The narrative already makes humanity out to be the apparent Übersmench of the universe, do we really need an in game "humanity first" faction saying the same thing as well?

Isn't Hack Walters the director of ME:A? If that's indeed the case then you can bet your sweet cheeks that we'll see Cerberus or something similar in ME:A.

I don't think so, if it does it will probably be a very minor enemy faction.

Is he? I thought he had more of an advisory role than actual role in development?

We'll have a Cerberus spy on board and s/he will be a love interest.

We will be able to knock some sense into them. Somebody will build a time machine or discover a wormhole back into the past. The spy will return to the Milky Way and kill TIM before he got mad. Of course this means that Shepard is never brought back to life. The reapers win and the cycle continues forever while everyone is still alive in Andromeda, getting married and enjoying life.

The final line spoken by your character will be:

"Oops."

I wouldn't be surprised if Randall Ezno returned as a squadmate. He is ex-Cerberus by the time ME3 starts however.

I would be very surprised by that. Ezno is supposed to be crazy powerful and that game isn't well regarded, is it?

Halo 4's dislike comes mostly from its multi-player.

I would be upset if BioWare once again decides to include characters from their novels or wherever that guy is from. It annoyed me to no end in DA:I and it would annoy me here. Am I supposed to read all the novels and play all the browser/mobile games just to understand what the actual game I bought is about? No thanks.

He's no more powerful than any of Shepard's dirty dozen. The game got mixed reviews actually, but the criticism it did get was mostly aimed at the gameplay. Bioware also has introduced future squadmates in a mobile game before (Jacob & Miranda), so it wouldn't be a first.

What does Cole's back story have to do with understanding the story of DAI? Stop being so dramatic.

Jacob and Miranda didn't originate in that mobile game. They used forthcoming characters to tie a mobile game into ME2.

Who gives a **** about Cole? He explains his backstory in the game, at least to a degree that is sufficient.

What's way worse is that the backstory to the whole Celene, Briala, Michel and Gaspard stuff is only mentioned in the novels. "Pick who rules Orlais but you have a time limit so you can't spend your time actually finding out who those people really are. Should have read the novel!"

The leader of the rebel mages, Fiona, is Alistair's mother... a fact that she springs on you casually as if you (the player) already knew... and which is a huge surprise considering that so far his mother died giving birth to him and now that's being retconned.

I wouldn't mind them returning in some form. Maybe they infiltrated the ARK program before it was launched and have their own ambitions in the Andromeda galaxy? As long as it's not the MAIN story/adversary then I don't mind.

You have to listen to dialogue to get the info on who you think should rule Orlais. Your advisors give you a bunch of info on all of the candidates. Is that too much work for you?
And the first novel, which came out before Origins, established who Alistair's mother is. It's not a retcon at all and it's not crucial to the story of ANY of the games.
What is it that you don't understand about Inquisition that only makes sense if you've read the novels? Corypheus and his schemes certainly don't fit the bill.
