[Learn To Love Yourself]

When I play the game, I lose a bit of immersion.

I think making it a 1^st person shooter would help.

Read this all before you start flaming, please.

Through my many years of gaming, I have to say

this is one of my favorite stories.  The community

(forum) is also one of the most mature ones around,

I feel.  But how much better would it be to just

lose yourself in the game as the character?

All I am asking is that it is given some consideration. I

hope that this franchise could gain more popularity

for itself, and making it 1^st person would make

the game more appealing to more people.  In the

future I’d like to feel more like I’m inside the story.

 

What also bothers me are the 3^rd person mechanics.

A little bit awkward, and a little bit off.  Currently, you

waste time in cover.  If you exploit RHA ninety percent

of the time, you have an automatic win.  AFAIK, no

man can shoot around walls like that.  Well, my clam

chowder is getting cold.  I’ll let this rant end.  Discuss.

I wouldn't mind it being an option. Just press a button and it swaps between first and third person.

I think having an option to switch views would be nice, but I do think the third person should always remain the 'base' setting.

 

I see what your saying OP, but I for one have never had an issue with immersion in ME, in fact, I feel incredibly immersed through other features aside the view - dialogue, customization, choices and such. I think that really drives home the personal investment in these type of games, so as a optional thing, I think sure, but as for recreating the structure to solely be first person, I can't agree.

That was essentially most of ME3, since we fought reanimated corpses.

Nice.  I didn't know you custom designed the back of their heads too, because

try as I might, that's really all I see when I'm running around, except for the

screwball cutscenes, which would be unchanged, even if gameplay was 1st person.

Well, you actually do since you choose your ears, hairstyle, hair color, and skin color.

More than likely, it'd play more like Destiny than Call of Duty, which is something I hope never happens.

Actually, you DO custom design the back of their hads - when you choose the hair for your avatar. And if the only thing you always look at is your avatar's back, you are playing it wrong. Because normally in TPV you have an option of floating camera - so you can see any modifications in armor and weapon you made during the game. It's a big part of the game fun. Not for you, I get it, but for many people. And I would not be so sure you can attract more people by switching to FPS then you loose by the same move.

This is definitely something to consider for Mass Effect in context of being played on a device like the Oculus Rift too. *ponders*

And to reply, I hate first person perspective because having hands floating in front of my eyes all the time is annoying.
