And Bethesda's third person control really sucked, too. My vote is for Bioware to leave their third person perspective alone. It's just fine as it is.
They would leave it alone. I don't see why they would feel the need to do anything drastic with it

Look, all I want is the option (toggle was good suggestion, thank you).
At the moment, it's harder for me to feel immersed in 3rd, though you
yourselves may not have that problem. The toggle would be ideal.
You're able to appeal to a wider audience that way. I just want to be
indoctrinated by this great story at a deeper level (romance scenes too).
If the 3rd Person view doesn't suffer from it, I would appreciate a FPS view as a option.
I agree with this wholeheartedly and completely. I think BioWare
forgot an important part of making a shooter when they left out
my option to switch from TPS to FPS. A realistic, in-
eye view is an important part of bonding with your character.
Bleach away the memories if you must, but remember
before doing so that games like COD enriched the gameverse that you and
I have come to love. TPP has too many drawbacks which I
came to despise, especially in ME1 with it's bad combat, and
to deny me the option to change views in next-gen would suck.
This is (imo) a simple feature to employ and I hope BioWare read this
forum and take heed from it. It would be of a huge
help to me but I believe, little hindrance to them. I hope they listen to
me and you.
If they make it first person then it will be time to put ME in the bin.
Yeah, me too - I get motion sickness with FPS (and I know all the suggested solutions, thanks. None of them work for me). I said it before when this was suggested for ME3, if they make it first person view, I'll be the first person not to buy the game.

Even giving you a toggle would be violating the writers' artistic integrity (sorry, wrong thread).
Every toggle increases the work.
ME doesn't need to be a first person shooter like CoD. Though an option to change it to first person wouldn't hurt I suppose. But regardless, if I want a first person shooter, I'd go to Halo, Destiny or Borderlands. ME doesn't need to be either of those. (Which isn't a bad thing, but ME doesn't need to become a FPS by default).
Every toggle increases the work.
I'm assuming (almost) everyone realizes this. Its up to Bioware to figure out how much more work it is, what impacts it has and how many people they think would llike it. It up to us to suggest thing we want, however crazy (not that this request is particularly crazy).

the no toggle side has a point.
let's keep making the same thing
over and over. Anyone who asks for
more options and enjoyment are not
real fans. No true fan would ask for
things to change ever.the fans they have
now are the everyone everywhere
who could ever enjoy the game as is
and they should have to play the game
as it is,
was,
and ever shall be.
amen.
I personally don't like 1person perspektive. The only game with this, i like to play, is minecraft.
but it does not bother me if it's optional available.
That. . .explains that? ![]()
It absolutely should not be allowed, iron sights is as close to first person the ME series should ever get.
3rd person allows for spatial awareness and range of motion that is essential ME action but still tactical combat style.
Stop smoking before you post OP. Incestuous gamers that want to homogenize everything is a legit and growing concern

Man, you really taking it back huh? Isn't that the pic from LL's G.O.A.T album? Long time.
I hate FPS' and I really hope that BioWare will NOT turn Mass Effect into a dumb Call of Duty kinda game! IF there will be a FP view, then I hope it will be an OPTION and NOT only FP view.
I'm a firm believer in option's(almost) never hurt anyone, so I'm not opposed to this as long as 3rd person's still in the game and set to default.
What's with the
horrible spacing
that lots
of
people seem to have in
these posts are
they on their phone or something?
Am I missing outon what
could be an amazing joke?
Tell
me please
this bothers me greatly
It tickles me silly that people still haven't cracked this simple code 4 pages in. ![]()
Would the romance scenes be in first person too or would you have to pay extra for that?
Seriously a couple of objections:
1) The term first person is a little misleading in a video game at least with the current technology. If that was really you on the screen you would be using all your available senses to do whatever it is you are supposed to be doing. You would feel the ground as you move, smell and hear stuff. Most people have a much better sense of spatial awareness than you can get on any variation of a tv screen or screens. and in real life you can move your head and eyes very quickly w/o getting disoriented. A third person view compensates for the limitations of the video screen and is in my view actually a little closer to the way you would observe and handle things in real life.
2) Not everyone uses the player character as an avatar. There was a video circulating on the BSN that discussed that, in terms of the way people approach character customization. Around half of the people lean towards making PCs as a seperate person, opposite sex, different facial features etc. I tend to think that the latter group of people tend to be older like me. Why would Bioware want to change the game so that these people, including me, are forced to play the game in a way they are not accustomed to especially since most of player base has already grown used to the 3rd person perspective.
Returning to this thread, I would take this moment to say that if there was ever a time for such a toggle feature to be implemented, it had best be in this first game of an assumed new trilogy. Introducing it in half-way through would be. . .strange.
