I would like to say that you ducked my initial question, Elhanan; what about explicit content that is included without the express intent of offending? You brought up some examples that you think were intentionally offensive - examples I dispute, but that's neither here nor there - but you didn't actually address the question.

Because my personal opinion is not part of the discussion. What and why I find things offensive may differ from others; too easy to Strawman an argument from the POV of one indv.

Which is a pretty good reason not to include the toggle as what should and shouldn't be covered by it is going to be open to far too much subjective interpretation. The only way to cover up everything anyone might possibly find offensive is if the toggle replaces the entire game with a picture of a rabbit and a kitten having a tea party.

And now we wait for someone to declare the image of hares an cats sharing tea to be offensive to them for whatever reason.

Believe they already do for varied markets; pls seek confirmation.

The individuals' views are entirely relevant because there is no metric for universally offensive or universally accepted. That's what you don't seem to understand. Putting some sort of "vulgarity" filter on the game to protect your delicate sensibilities would be a waste of everyone's time and BioWare's resources because there is no end to what some people find offensive, so such a feature could never be anything more than a half measure. You want a magically objective solution to a subjective(and arguably nonexistent) problem. It's entirely childish.

Im not that bothered with nudity in my game tbh (fade to black can/does/would suit me)but i agree if it is done then at-least do it right an i also agree BioWare needs to up there game in aesthetics 100 fold, what they offered on/in there first instalment on next gen was way way below all AAA developers

Having indv being able to better tailor their experience sounds pretty good to me, but that is another thread. Prefer Teen ratings instead, but a Toggle does appear to be a fine notion.

And for other constructive crit, pls see the Ignore function.

I would start with the words not allowed on BSN; those that are filtered and deleted when found. Bioware could look into the market about whether such a function is cost effective. And that is the end of our discussion; pls set me to Ignore.

To be perfectly fair to Elhanan, they do make edited versions of R-rated movies to air on basic cable. Problem with those versions is that they often reduce the quality of the over all work.

Further reading on the subject.

There's a mute button, and you can turn your head and avert your eyes. There's your tailoring, and it didn't cost Bioware any time or resources.

Those edited versions are made by the people airing them, not the people who made the movies.

Meh - the Scunthorpe problem

... and this forum does **** out some totally strange words as I found when I had to use the term "big purple sex-toy" in another thread.

Oh and a sex-toy for anal insertion is fine but not vaginal; there are some double-standards here I think.

... but then I guess there had to be really:

----

and just out of curiosity: ****** Sapiens

Now there's a surprise (or not)

The point is, however, that relying on a word filter for a public forum (without age restrictions) is somewhat nonsensical when attempting to determine what words should not be allowed in an age restricted (17+) game.

Wow. Almost exactly the same discussions and arguments like in the first thread. I could just copy/paste a dozen posts here and they'd fit right in.

I'ma continue the tradition:

Seriously.

We are going to shoot stuff. Kill people, murder 'em dead.

I don't see how anything can be worse than that and somehow should have a toggle.

People's priorities are messed up.

If necessary, then yes for nudity.

More unnecessary sex? No, there's always that red YouTube for that.

Thanks for reminding me just how terrible of a character Traynor was. Ugh.

On-topic: I'm fine with the nekkid boddz. I was actually impressed with the way Inquisition went about their sex scenes.

And I assume you are the one who gets to define "civilized", correct Queen Victoria?

No. I can't define anything on your behalf. But I can suggest an alternative attitude that I think would be beneficial for everyone. This including name-calling, like you did here, or the aforementioned 'prude' and 'child', which I believe most people would agree are insults no matter your semantics and dictionary definitions.

As it turns out, consistently and publicly spewing stupid ideas all over an internet forum tends to make lots of people voice their disagreement with you, who knew?

I'm confused as to who we are talking about now. I haven't noticed any other threads by dinobot100 on this forum, certainly nothing even vaguely approaching a 'public spewing of stupid ideas'.

Respect is a two way street. Asking for ones minority demands be catered to at the expense of the vast, vast majority is in and of itself extremely disrespectful

Are you certain he was aware of the technical costs of his suggestions when he created the thread? Should any new topic starter be held accountable for how viable their suggestions are, lest they open themselves up to, in your eyes, valid ridicule?

At any rate, asking for absolute respect from others before you are willing to give it to them in return is how conflicts are never resolved. Each side will simply be digging their trenches, demanding the other side implement the changes you desire before you move a muscle yourself.

Anyway, I'm bowing out of this discussion now. Your tone is unnecessarily aggressive and I have little desire to spend more time on such. That said, I understand your point of view and I do respect your position (expressions of it aside).

Think of the fun we could have with separate sliders for nudity, gore and language, like having a celibate protagonist splattering enemies to bloody giblets while shouting "sorry for the inconvenience!"

 Big Snip

In any case, I don't think any language or nudity in DAI qualifies for those definitions. Dorian's father's past behavior qualifies for the first and third, as does Blackwall's past behavior. All of the sexual desire in the series is rather well controlled. There are plenty of things throughout the series I'd consider repulsive, but generally speaking that was the point.

                                                                           <<<<<<<<<<()>>>>>>>>>>

"..All of the sexual desire in the series is rather well controlled"

Oh, I wouldn't go that far.... that is, as far as to acknowledge, there are any scenes that provoked sexual desire.  I guess it all boils down to personal sensitivy.

As I mentioned before, by not buying any M or 18+ rated games, curruption and temptations are avoided (gamewise).

I am with the OP 100% of the way. Its a M-rated game let game wear that rating with pride.

For people wanting a filter there is already one in place its called self-control as in control yourself not to buy the game if you don't like the content inside it.

I want Bioware to Embrace the M-rating of their games and put nudity in romance scenes where it fits the most, have characters cuss in moments where it makes sense like Joker getting the Normandy SR-1 blown up lol. And yes its Jokers fault why that beginning scene happen, he was suppose to be a better pilot :D

I just want these things where they make the most sense not to be there so they can say the F-word in every other sentence or take their clothes off just so they can walk around in the nude.
