You know, the best way to protest this is to ignore him. The developers already said their piece anyway. At this point, it's just him speaking to himself. Let the thread dies, and it would be the end of it. He already ignored the points others make anyway and just repeating himself.

Part of me knows that. Another part of me can't stand to let him have the last word and let him think he's won by attrition.

Today doesn't seem to be a day that I'll be indulging in my better nature. Maybe after breakfast.

Gonna warn you straight away, he has the patience of a saint. We will all lose a war of attrition with Elhanan. When the heat death of the universe rolls around, we'll all be atoms and he'll still be posting.

Oh, don't encourage me. I am nothing if not a stubborn sonnabitch when I set my mind to something.

Yeah, and I actually didn't realize this until I unwittingly posted in this one this morning.

one is asking for Bioware to be explicit and wear the M rating and the other is asking for toggles on explicit content

Bioware not taking a single page from the Gears of War playbook is perfectly fine in my opinion.

yeah, I'm so glad they haven't streamlined the experience into a narrow corridor shooter with a poor attempt at cover-mechanics  <_<

Am fairly confident that such a feature will not replace anything that also makes it into the launched content. Cut-material is no longer relevant, except for folks that wish to complain about it once being considered and dropped after watching pre-Alpha videos from fans.

Elhanan,

Answer the question.

Who will create "such a feature"?

And will that not divert resources?

Except BioWare already did take a page from the Gears of War playbook for ME2 and ME3. Not just a page, almost the entire book actually.

Worth noting that one of the showcase examples from that Kotaku article - Gears of War 2 - has the developers making it pretty clear that to have both versions, the filtered and non-filtered, they had to compromise their original vision for a specific piece of dialogue - AND that it was a huge pain in the ass to do so.

So, in one of the very few applicable examples we have for this, the argument that the toggle won't affect the unexpurgated content doesn't seem to fly. I think it will inevitably inform every single aspect of the plotting and writing process.

Is everyone just arguing against Elhanan at this point? Not that I mind, I'm just wondering if that's the where the conversation has gone at this point.

This.

Well said Tommy.

My guess is that the pro-censorship crowd will not acknowledge the reality of this.

They need to take the page on blind fire from it, and the one for better A.I.

Bioware could create the feature, possibly purchase current research and systems if available from these other companies. And content deemed less desirable would be diverted; happens in every such game during development.

Nope, because the article seemed to say differently.

Or they keep the content and write off the handful of people that object to this stuff in a M-rated game.

They could, but w/o examining the benefits and costs, would seem to be rather unwise.

OK, they could do it a myriad of ways.

Now answer the second question,

Wouldn't this divert resources away from making an uncensored game?

A developer has already discussed that in the other thread.

The obvious solution is to just fire you and Hanako as fans if you can't get over the content.

Oh really, I'm "factually" inaccurate about a general term? Then please show me a scholarly definition of romantic love from a psychologist, anthropologist or sociologist that doesn't include sexual attraction. You can't, because it is a mere colloquialism used to describe and explain various mating/ courtship processes physical and mental. If I really wanted to, I could add that the consensus of various experiments by academics in the social sciences community is that the concept is nothing more than a means to marginalize and discourage reproductive rivals, and thus ceases to have meaning if there is no reproductive behavior or chemical processes associated with it involved. How a minority of asexuals choose to use the term for what are more appropriately called platonic relationships is irrelevant.

Moreover, why does any of that matter to the topic of the discussion? Are asexuals offended by sex? If so, what makes their offense any more deserving of attention than the aforementioned people who ask for things like gay toggles?

DAMN QUARIAN MASTER RACE, YOU SCARY!

That's a lost cause. Elhanan doesn't acknowledge that any content that gets cut in order to implement this "feature" has any value because it's been cut. It's a nice circular way to try and say that it costs nothing. Too bad circular logic doesn't actually work.

This is what gets me the most: well articulated sociopaths have more power of changing things than the everyday joe.

THIS TOGGLE IDEA IS RIDICULOUS, A TRAVESTY, MADE IN THE MIND OF A SICK PERSON.

Life is dirty, humanity is dirty. Stop trying to sanitize entertainment. Thatt's crazy.

I agree, sticking with a proven successful and broadly appealing strategy would be unwise.

DAI does have some of the saltiest language yet. What's that old chestnut you're always pulling out? GOTY 2014?

And yet a title such as TW3 among others is skipped because of the excessive inclusion of such content, designed so that unlike Bioware games, one cannot easily control the material in the game.

If Bioware were to follow this trend, but include a Toggle, one could still play and avoid the objectionable content.
